Waders, I think my biggest complaint is how they don’t fit well. They are either bulky or they fit like OJs gloves. If I could find a pair that actually fit normal I’d sure be happy.! On a side note: I hope you have a chance to shoot the Benelli M2, is switched last year to the Benelli and I’m very happy with my decision.! Not only do I hunt with it, but I’ve shot a bunch of sporting clays and I really like it.! Might not be right for you, but I hope you have the opportunity at least.

The most important thing I look at in waders is safety.. most people don’t think of that when choosing waders, but durability, protection, and all the things that go into the production of waders essentially is a part of your body when you’re hunting and is what keeps your body safe from the environment. To not worry about my body battling the environment is an essential part of doing your job or hunting!

What I want in a pair of waders is durability, reliability, and ones that do what waders are supposed to do, keep you high and dry. I might want to try duck hunting with a 20 ga., I’ve always used a 12ga for everything, but want something more lightweight for when I am doing a lot of walking for turkey hunting.

What I’m looking for out of a wader is to put them on and be able to forget about them. Any piece of equipment that works that well is worth it to me. I don’t want to have to think about anything when waking up at 3am other than brewing my coffee and getting to that days spot. Simplify and maximize!!! I have a 12 gauge SX4, 20 and 12 870, and picked up an SBE3 at the beginning of this season...I haven’t put the SBE3 down. It shoots so nice, it’s easy to clean, doesn’t get very dirty, and is super easy on the shoulder. Oh, and it’s light. Wicked nice gun!!!

I actually just purchased a pair of high n dry waders this week and got to take them on a hunt this morning. Most comfortable waders I’ve ever owned. I feel like the comfort and durability of waders are the most important for me. Of course I’d probably choose durability over comfort but luckily high n dry provides both. Thanks for putting me on those waders Joel!!

Most important thing in waders for me, besides keeping me dry, is mobility. I do a lot of hiking in, and when it's cold here in the north I wear a lot of layers. Being able to move freely is not only more comfortable, it also feels safer.

Joel, regarding your gun. Love seeing the 870. I bought my first one 6 years ago and love it. I've shot tons of birds and a few deer with it. Only downfall with my 870 is that Kent shells constantly jam. Mine has no kick. If you want kick shoot a .308 or 30-06 for deer 🦌. I've also used a 20 gauge. Works just as well but you really need to keep your shots within 40 yards.

Durability, comfort, and fit are the most important factors in water selection. The seat area is always first to go in every pair of waders I have owned. I regularly switch back and forth from 12 to 20 gauge depending on the water size and type of waterfowl, but I do love both gauges.

The most important thing I look in a pair of waders is durability with mobility, hunting in flooded timber in the south is a challenge, with waders you need a pair that are durable enough to last through the briars and grass, but also flexible enough to more freely through the water.

I noticed your old 870 in some previous videos and was wondering how old it was. It serves you well and deserves to retire soon. I have one like it and I had to change the stock because it was broken. Very nice gun to shoot. Try the Franchi Affinity 3. It is a very soft shooting gun and not expensive. I have the old one and it works every time even after I use it as a stick when I fell in the water during goose hunting this year. Good luck.

Since I only get to hunt a couple times each year, I need waders that are going to hold up well in storage, but still be reliable when I need them. I don't want to spend money on waders that will dry rot in 3 years. Also, I still shoot my old Winchester 1300 pump that I got in 1988. If I ever need to upgrade, I'll probably go to the Winchester SXP. It uses the same rotating block system that the 1200/1300 series used for 40+ years. It reduces recoil and speeds up the pumping process. You might give the SXP a try.

Waders - The feature that I would like to see is a pair of waders where the boots do not crack and dry-rot after 1-2 seasons. I have went through 4 pairs of Cabelas waders in 5 years. My 10 year old went through two pairs of Lacross waders in three years due to boots leaking and is now using his very own Cabelas waders. Those should last about 1.5 seasons. While on a duck hunting trip to Kansas in late Oct 2020 my buddy had his waders start leaking. All of these issues above are from cracked boots (yes, we oil the boots but it doesnt seem to matter). I am the perfect candidate for a free pair of High N Dry waders.

I shoot a mossberg 12 Gauge with 2 3/4” #6 and #4 for ducks and #2 and BB for geese. When my mom hunts with me, she shoots a 20 gauge 3” with #4 shot for ducks and #2 for geese. The 20 has very minimal recoil compared to my 12. They are both the same gun and theres a huge noticeable difference. If you have shoulder problems or just tired of the recoil, I think a 20 is perfect for shooting ducks over decoys within 30 yards.

With this being my 2nd season to duck hunt. I bought a pair of Banded waders. I really dislike that the outer shell holds water and makes my feet heavy (unless I hold that layer up with my hands) and the front pocket doesn't have a hole in it for water to drain. So for me a pair of duck hunting waders needs to have a well thought out design for duck hunters, instead of what looks cool. Thanks again for all of the great videos. God bless.
