Excellent discussion. From my parents birth to now their african country has tripled in population. Imagine a place like America or the UK tripling its population in your lifetime!

It's called the post world war 2 baby boom. The population of Europe tripled in the space of 80 years

All of this lot will own houses and will be rubbing their hands in glee at the asset price inflation that is increasing their personal wealth. I with a young family have stopped at having one child because I'm unable to get onto the housing ladder/into accommodation (that means I'm not living a utterly cramped environment) and because childcare costs are completely prohibitive. If you want to sort out the 'demography and society' state that you want then you are going to have to accept some personal financial loss through a reduction in the price of said assets. I doubt anyone who this talk is aimed at or was speaking on the stage would countenance that, thus the whole exercise is utterly pointless. Also I may hasten to add that the Conservative and Unionist party's electoral base is retired people who own houses, they would rather hit their hand with a hammer repeatedly than reduce the price of their assets or allow the building of more homes in their vicinity to enable my family and others to have more children, so any politician advocating that will not get an X next to their name.
