Does this mean the 40V Mikita cordless Brad nailer is the next shop upgrade?

Somebody need to tell makita that there are several cheaper 18v nailer out there and the price makita set is making it a hard choice

I've been wondering about this brad nailer for a while, but I definitely want the ability to shoot up to 50mm (2in) so have been reluctant to go for it. Makita, as far as I can work out, are the only main company that haven't brought out an 18v framing nailer yet too and it is so annoying! I do a reasonable amount with my paslode gas nailer and would love to retire it!

Yeah cordless is so worth it! And yeah I would love more of a framing type nailer as well. I really wish Makita upped there game a bit but nonetheless I still dig the brand! I’ve actually used paslode quite a bit and I dont mind them at all, just wish they upgraded to all electric and no gas, then I’d probably be sold on them haha

I bought this & the finish nailer. ALL of my tools in my 24 yrs of this wk are makita. This pricey brad nailer disappointed me it ran fine for about a yr - yr & a half. A few weeks ago I was wrapping 6x6 beams with 1x8 mitered finger jointed pine. It just plain died on me. I tried fully charged batteries thinking that was the issue. Its as though the air chamber internally has a leak because it sinks an 18 guage brad only about 1/8" now. So I now must pay to have it repaired - probably $1-200.00 & thats not ok. All of my other makita tools never let me down ever this 1 has & I did NOT fill out the warranty card when purchased. Bummer

Love mine, but yeah the 35mm limit (hence the name 350Z) is a little weird. 50mm (2") brads would be considered the standard and there are 18V ones that can do this like the Milwaukee. Part of the price tag is this model is not made in China, but other similar bradders also have a similar price tag, and the Milwaukee is a lot more. I've used the Ryobi version, and there is simply no comparison, this one poops all over it. As a workshop gun, the 15mm 5/8" capability is great, and most things you'll be using it for will be 19mm 3/4" so I've rarely missed the 2" ability. However, if you are doing construction and reno work primarily, this is not the gun for you. This is obviously a conscious design choice by Makita, as the brand new 40V XGT 18G nailer ALSO doesn't do 2" nail, it tops out at 40mm (1 5/8"). A curious decision. Still, in 2 years I've not had one jam and I find it invaluable to my shop.

Love the input! Yeah I’ve been happy with mine thus far, I guess ultimately if I were to choose an all in one item I would probably buy a cordless one that can shoot the 2” brads or the 40V Makita because I don’t have that platform yet 😂. One weird thing with my 350z is my depth is maxed out as deep as it can go and I need to have no kickback in order to shoot it flush. Does yours do this? I wonder if mines a tad faulty

@@AceWoodCo I did some decent testing on it. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fMmJf6aX09vMhnU.html You do need firm pressure to stop kickback and seat the nails properly, but I'm guessing that's true of any nailer. Silly question, have you tried rolling the depth adjuster the other way? I found it counter-intuitive and accidentally had mine set to minimum for a while 😅 It also states in the manual it is not designed for hardwood. Battery power just doesnt have the kick of a compressor... but then I find the portability (and not owning a compressor :P) wins for me.

The price is extortionate. I've an old compressor version, so won't buy a Makita one anytime soon, even though all my cordless tools are Makita.

Yeah I agree completely with that too. That's one of my gripes with this cordless nailers thats for sure.
