"Playing dirty" makes no sense to me at all. WHATEVER trick the person before you does thats what you have to do. If someone takes time to learn and get consistant at tricks that no one else does, doesnt mean your dirty, means you put in more time than most. People just hating

I get where they are coming from honestly. The only reason Jamie practiced these weird tricks is because he was stuck in his dumpy little garage for years while other guys were able to use their regular trick arsenal while out skating in the streets. You're never going to see most of these tricks done on some of the gaps that guys like Jamie Thomas or Cole or Joslin or Milton Martinez have skated. Good luck doing a merlin twist on a spot that Brandon Westgate is skating lol.

I got a personal story with that last trick. About 12 years ago I learned switch ff impossibles and then the nollie version and eventually the merlin and the nollie merlin. One day I was skating at the most frequented spot in my hometown of Budapest, Hungary. So I was just messing around and then the undisputed best hungarian skater ever, Zsolt Karkossiak comes by and greets me and quickly challenges me to play a game of skate. So I win the ro sham bo and I started off with the nollie bs 180 back foot impossible. He immediately said “okay man I’m done” and proceeded to go on just skating. One of the best stories of my skate carreer because I obviously wasn’t that big of a deal at skating. Just fun to remember. Nothing but good times!

I think that if anyone's going to do tricks that are considered "dirty" to some people like pressure flips or whatever, as long as the trick is done properly and actually looks legit, then go ahead. If they're clearly doing stuff like 360 shuvs and calling it an impossible, that's when things get sketchy.

Jamie isn’t skating dirty, in my opinion. He’s just boring. If every second offensive set is some random trick no one cares to learn, you’re trying way too hard to win the game quickly. That’s why old battles with established pros used to be so entertaining. It was them running through every fundamental trick until they ran out and only then they went to double flips and pressure flips. The game had a natural ramp up of trick difficulty which heightened the tension and watch factor. If you play skate against any random skater at a park and start throwing only your death blows from the word go they’ll think you’re an asshole.

What's wrong playing to win? Damn, so many Jamie haters just because he can do weird tricks. You guys have no issues with Mike Mo or Sewa. Even early 2000s Eric Koston did more weird tricks than Jamie.
@LilCrispyBoi
@LilCrispyBoi 8 ай бұрын
@@bergerman487 there’s actually nothing wrong with playing to win. It just lacks the entertainment factor of games that ramp up the difficulty by going through all the basics and getting progressively more technical. Sewa’s matches used to sometimes be boring as well because you knew he would just throw tre, tre double, 540 flip, 540 shuv and hardflip variations until the other skater was on E. What I’m getting at is I just prefer long games that are won through consistency not immediate trick difficulty. That’s how I play skate so it’s how I like to see it played. Purely personal preference. I want to see jamie run through the straight 8 and 180 16 before going for a double flip or flip body varial.

@@bergerman487 Find me an old game of SKATE where Mike Mo does a 360 underflip in the first 3 or 5 tricks. You won't find it. Mike Mo was an incredible flat skater but he wasn't hucking weird tricks on the first set of the game. Sewa is a different story, but I do get why guys like him do it. They were gaining a lot of notoriety from BATB whereas Mo was like THE up and comer back in the day and was already set in the skate industry.

i feel it is dirty for skaters to do uncommon tricks in games of S.K.A.T.E, especially if they are hard to do it's not even a competition so no reason to take it so serious, it's just a game where someone wins and someone loses and there's money on the line idk I just feel like he always does the same tricks, would be nice to see something different like a kickflip or tre flip variation or something and I just find niche things really cringe basically anything different from typical mainstream skateboarding is really cringe to me, it even makes me angry I hate to see my counterculture get ruined by a bunch of countercultures idk I just feel that him doing tricks that are hard for his opponents to do is really disrespectful in a game of S.K.A.T.E maybe that's just me
