No one managed to stay as long as the Undertaker. 30 years, survived everything that changed in the industry. He didn't look like an old guy who had lost all of it and just came to collect money, he was still extremely dedicated and everyone demanded they wanted to see him again and again and again and he never failed in any of his matches until 2017. He's just the GOAT. The entire world changed and kayfabe died but he kept on going for 30 years.

@@someoldguy5316 Jericho is one of the GOATs too but by 30 years I didn't mean 30 years of wrestling career, Jericho took a lot of time in the first 10 years to reach the highest level of audience (WCW/WWE level), even after he did he has gone to midcard a lot of times (but he was one of the greatest there too). What I meant was Undertaker survived 30 years of WWE, where the highest level of audience in a wrestling show where all weren't just prowrestling fans but the entire world, kids, teens, adults who are casual fans too are here and yet he managed to keep his character look serious even in 2010s when everyone knew he was an old man with a broken hip.

Undertaker has been one of the main eventers for like most of his career, even when he became really old and had 2-3 matches per year those matches had the spotlight and had 3-4 promos too and it's all because of how he protected that character for that long. Not seeing many people talking about this, but Shawn Michaels definitely deserves goat shouts too
@SuperMillwall
@SuperMillwall Жыл бұрын
But Shawn Michaels didn’t transcend the sport, he’s not a name that everybody will know outside of wrestling so in that sense he’s not in the Top 3. But in terms of in ring ability he’s probably No1. I’m not hating btw, Shawn Michaels is one of my all time favourites but the “Mount Rushmore” has to be people that were literally a household name all over the world.. Stone Cold, John Cena, The Rock, The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan or Ric Flair. Has to be out of them surely?
@henriquequintas7262
@henriquequintas7262 Жыл бұрын
@@SuperMillwall Sure, you could say that. But that "transcend the sport" thing is very hard to measure. I'm from Portugal, which is obviously very far apart from the US, and WWE isn't main stream here. If I mention WWE wrestlers' names to my friends who don't watch WWE, most likely the ones they would recognize are: John Cena, The Rock, Rey Mysterio, Big Show, Undertaker and maybe Randy Orton. Leaving out house hold names like Austin, Flair, etc. And that's not because those wrestlers are better than the ones who were left out, it's because they are more mediatic since they wrestled in times in which the media was more invested in WWE

Cena’s 2015 us open challenge run was one of the best runs of all time, a main eventer, who was not known for his in ring performance, had the best matches of the year, put everyone over, not necessarily by winning, by giving opportunities! @@supertrashedits Everyone who regularly watches WWE knows what an RKO is. And even if we count lapsed fans we might get the number up to 4 million people. But tens of millions know Hogan and probably Flair and Austin. Hundreds of millions know the Rock, but that is sort of cheating as many don't know he wrestled. I would say close to 10 mil know Hall and Nash, Sting, and Undertaker. I would wager more people know Angle than Orton. Heck, I am sure more people know Kenny Omega than Orton, though most of them are in Japan and most in the US wouldn't count that. Also, that is a whole other discussion. I would wager Rey Mysterio is known by more people than Orton as well. And as big as the Rock is, I would never put him on my Wrestling Rushmore because he hasn't had nearly the affect on wrestling as several others have. I mean without Buddy Rogers we wouldn't have Ric Flair. And I think the biggest drawing feud, in terms of attendance, was Hogan vs Orndorff. But he got injured before TV WWF got big so he isn't the name many others are. But he was incredibly influential at the time.

The problem I see in this discussion is that by "all time" you mean the last 40 years or so, but wrestling existed way before that. The "slam bang wrestling" of the Gold Dust Trio (Ed "Strangler" Lewis, Tuts Mondt and Billy Sandow) in the 1920s and 30s was the direct ancestor of modern day Sports Entertainment and Ed Lewis and Jim Londos were big international superstars. In the 40s and 50s Lou Thesz or Buddy Rogers were super famous. Bruno Sanmartíno sold out MSG all the time in the 60s. Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, The Sheikh or Superstar Billy Graham were huge in the 70s and early 80s. I think the discussion needs a lot more thought and analysis. Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan were huge, but they were ripoffs of other wrestlers. Cena was much more original and so were Stone Cold or the Undertaker.

True but with that said without Hogan there would not be The Rock. But Hogan is nowhere near the list. Rock loses out to John because his career was just too short compared to John Cena. He is in the top three but John just was the guy for more than a decade.

Bro why you put hogan in there??? 🤣 hogan let’s be real, wasn’t a good wrestler. And he had 2 big moves that was about it. He was overpushed when he didn’t deserve to be. And he’s a complete asshole that didn’t put talent over when he should have. Hogan is the BIGGEST overrated WWE product of ALL time.

The best that ever happened to Cena was Rock leaving for Hollywood. If Dwayne stayed longer and didn’t do movies at that point of his wrestling career. John wouldn’t have gotten over the way he did
