In this talk, Damien Balderrama challenges the age-old notion that “knowledge is power.” Instead, knowledge is merely potential power, and needs to be plugged into action in order to power our lives.
Damien Balderrama is an aspiring speaker, author, life coach and love entrepreneur. He has invested the better part of the last decade studying human behavior and psychology, consciousness and spirituality and healing modalities from around the world. He is passionate about holistically integrating the wisdom he has learned into useful mind, body & spirit practices, to reunite others with their authentic power and guide them into the unique mission for their lives.
Damien is currently building the root system for this movement, which he calls Lucid Lighthouse. The cornerstones for Lucid Lighthouse are Education, Entertainment and an Endowment. Education through coaching, workshops and information technologies, Entertainment reinforces the education through music, film/video and publishing. These two endeavors will afford the endowment or philanthropy work, in literacy, elderly and youth services and changing the negative perception of mental illness.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

His concept is correct . You can learn anything , the key is to learn what can be applied in your individual life.

Sometimes, knowledge can be empowering without you trying to use it intentionally. Example: If you possess enough/ the right knowledge in a situation where someone wants to convince you of an idea/opinion, you can think better for yourself with the right knowledge and even sometimes avoid being manipulated with false information or ideas that are not yours. Knowledge allows you to be less naive and more in control of your opinions which are based on real beliefs and/or facts. Knowledge can even save lives intentionally or not.

Well, maybe, it's again the knowledge that restraint us from being manipulated by other's thought or openion. Yes, it's not applied literally but somehow consciously we convince our brain cells with the help of the knowledge to show less credibility toward any knowledge that we don't know whether is true or false. In this case, knowledge is applied on ourselves,not on the others.

Watch a show called Dr. Stone it shows the true difference that knowledge gives power. It's about this man who was revived from stone and used knowledge and intelligence to defeat the other side which was built with some pretty strong people. While one side had spears the other had just barely built a tank(although they could only shoot it once) it still got the job done if you are interested in this show there are 3 seasons so you don't have to go through the pain of having a one-season show.

Hes saying you can have knowledge, but not using it in action, then it is nothing. Having knowledge and doing something such as mentoring for example, is knowledge in action, the action from knowledge is the true power. Live light and blessings.

WRONG! WRONG!! WRONG!!! So many smart people that I love and respect have it all wrong. Knowledge IS power. Applied knowledge IS applied power. The reason you put the battery in the phone is because you KNEW it had power stored in the battery. 😁 👍 Great talk though! For real. ✊💯❤️

There is a different meaning knowledge is power because nothing is true but everything is permitted. Because I know but not seek. You never seek the truth but you know what the truth really is.

I 'd known for but never release the hand brake. I think you should take a working hollidays and met good people, get ride of bad people around you, it's better to stay alone with a few friends. i'm nearly 28 and i never felt so young in my mind, in fact, last time i was looking life in goodway, after hard scholarship and familly time. it was when i was 11 years old.

Is knowledge power? Answer is no. Knowledge is power, is it true? The answer is no, it is not until you apply knowledge to get something in life. Knowledge is not power but action with knowledge is power or better said knowledge with action is power, think before you act but act and not just think and act after you think.

The United States military is powerful right? even when they are not nuking people. Knowledge is power even when it is not being applied... you are still powerful because when you need to you can act on it and have more advantage than those who have no knowledge.
@cbonzar
@cbonzar 3 жыл бұрын
Actually the US Army does not need to use nukes to show their Power. They make other countries to take knowledge about the US army power. It's so much better to influent others to avoid conflicts by showing them your Power, not a effective power, but still a power.

You probably 'know' what E equals. E = MC^2 You don't need to be a Physicist or a Mathematician to know that. It is considered common knowledge by today's academic standards. But do you 'understand' what it means? Do you know that if E = MC^2 then M = E/C^2? Which means there is enough energy contained within the atoms of your average 17 gram Twinkie to meet and exceed the approximate 11 MegaWatt per day electricity demand of NYC! You can know something without understanding it, but that knowledge is redundant without the understanding. If you understand that, then you will come to know true power.
@randomgirl4062
@randomgirl4062 Жыл бұрын
Well… I think it depends on how you define “knowledge”. I don’t know if I would call being familiar with the equation “E = MC^2” having knowledge about the subject. There’s gotta be more to it - I believe “knowledge” describes something much more advanced and vast, like whole concepts or a great amount of facts and expertise on a certain topic rather than just a single piece of information.

I think his point wasn’t really about the semantics, just that you have to actually do something with your knowledge instead of simply learning. Being a scholar is good but doing nothing with what you’ve learned is useless.

knowledge is potential power. application of knowledge has the chance of unleashing that potential into actual power. for instance i learnt english a long time ago in school.and today we are able to converse for we both know the language. this makes us more powerful than those who cant speak or understand english. :)

This is postmodernist thinking that is highly flawed! You're reasoning against reason? er.. One of the main purposes of free speech is to protect knowledge. How else can you make informed decisions about anything?
