Legend Onslaught has been widely touted as the best way to farm for brave weapons and trophies. But has anyone actually tallied up all of our rewards in both Legend and Normal onslaught since bungie made both of them more rewarding. So that's what we're doing today and I think you'll be surprised to see how these numbers pan out

Yes, I’m glad bungie made it even more rewarding then before for the all 50 waves, was so tired of people leaving after 10 or 30.. it hurt because I’d have to then solo several waves by myself almost losing

Didn't feel like I was getting much because most rolls have been trash on these weapons and wanting the shiny god roll is like a 1% chance of happening. This is what causes player burnout. Let them earn there weapons take a healthy brake and then return for new content. Does this make more work for the developer yup sure does but they "serve" us in a live service it's there job to. Remember a desperate bungie is a great bungie. So let's keep them desperate

Not only that but there's still the glitch where you get soft locked if you kill the bosses too fast. It's bs there needs to be a regulation on the priority of glitches that get fixed. Like the ones that help stay till something that harms us first that would actually make the developers work 5x faster to fix things and release them in better states for longer periods of time

Wish you would of compared the time for each run. I think you can probably do 5 normal runs in the same time it would take to do 4 legend runs. So the disparity is even less

Yes, I've only run normals, as I'm pretty mediocre, and have only ever reached wave 38 on Legend.

I actually play normal. I don´t have the patience to make the extra effort, nor people to play with. So at the end of the day I just run a normal onslaught, maybe two, and go to bed quite happy. It is quite good we have the chance to play how we prefer, I kinda admire people that farm legend mode, but that't not for me.

Ya I’m guardian rank 11 and I run regular most of the time. It’s just more chill. I’ve also gotten every roll I’ve wanted so far except for lunas and blast furnace that were just added this week.

You are not getting Alloys because you are capped at 30. This activity drops Alloys, not Shards.

Legend isn't really worth it at all... It doesn't have matchmaking and the enemies r bullet sponges that hit like trucks meanwhile we r pretty much nerfed to the ground as usually... Bungies way of "difficulty" is so trash.

I think you counted the weekly rewards in normal onslaught and did not count the weekly rewards in legend onslaught. Ain't no way you get just 2 less weapons in normal / legend. It should be at least a difference of 5, per 5 bosses

The additional effort and risk in Legend is just nort worth the extra items compared to normal, normal also has matchmaking making it all in all just way more aproachable in my opinion, solid video pal

Thank you for the work and info here! - As to Mat farming - COIL Platinum are VASTLY more rewarding. so Regular onslaughts for the weapon farming, and a few Coil runs to prep for Final shape

You don't get ascendant shards from onslaught, you get alloys. And you guaranteed 1 at 40 and 50. You were capped so none dropped

I've played ITL on a few different accounts and I've noticed the game gives you shinies on your early runs of Onslaught (after you finish the shiny weapon bounties) for about 3-4 drops. Sometimes even getting the drops within the same wave 50 run, afterwhich the drop rate plummets. It's as though the game baits you by giving you shiny luck in the beginning to get you and keep you hooked for the rest of the update- if that is the case, that's next level shade

I feel like just farming normal 50 is a more consistent baseline stream of loot. You don't even need that good of a team to be clearing normal 50 quickly, while legend 50 you don't always get the full clear even good teams sometimes wipe, waves/boss round can take longer which can be a net loss over an extended period of time.

Good comparison Adding to the math, doing regular is a a higher percentage of wins and less time, if you factor in a wipe on legend, for a casual player Also helps if you don’t have a fireteam to play with or just don’t want to Helpful vid, thanks 👌

Great topic for a upload. Normal Onslaught is more "Rewarding" because Less time, Stress of finding a fireteam and greater chance of succeeding 50 waves. And Ive found just as many Shiny weapons in Normal mode and found MORE Shiny weapons from In game drops than from exchanging Trophies from the chest.

There’s a few things to keep in mind about onslaught rewards. There are a few weekly powerful drops on reset, and Legend does have an extra weapon drop in there somewhere that’s guaranteed at 50. Legend does have extra token drops at 30, 40, and 50. I’m just pointing out that last one. Not sure if some of this counted in your calculations, but it’s just something for other people to keep in mind when considering which difficulty to do

During Iron Banner it was hard to do a Normal 50 wave in Midtown as people kept bailing before Wave 10. So I did '10 waves' on repeat and got a god roll Luna from the coins I collected (after 2 hours). Crazy!

can I ask what your sample size is for the runs? because from my understanding weapon drops are random so if you have really shitty luck on both runs you'd net about 7 on normal vs 12 on legend. because theoretically (assuming drop chance is the same for both legend and normal) you could just as easily have gotten 9 weapons on normal and 17 on legend, or 12 on normal and 17 on legend

Earlier today I've finally gotten to drop my personal god roll ( I've thought it even doesn't exist ) Luna's Howl, but was a random 10 Waves normal quick play. Just a totally random drop, shiny and double rolls, after a fast multiple precision kills with another Luna's!

Normal Onslaught is a great activity for Fireteam Finder. Your functional build can carry 2 blueberries who are completing their gunsmith bounties or whatever, and you still get a ton of drops.

Good to know. I’m not doing those random legend matches anymore. I don’t know how many times we’ve died in the 40’s. Normal mode is finishing level 50 about 95% of the time. I just always thought legend was a lot more rewards.

I still think it should be more rewarding for both sides just a lot more for legend like for a full 50 normal should be 20 weapons with like 40 tokens and legend for be 40 weapons and about 80-100 tokens because ive seen ppl use 1554 tokens(2 full stacks) and only get 1 shiny thats abiut 155 to ratio its bs. Do i think it fun yeah but ppl are still leaving at 10 to 20 waves still it wasnt enough to stop it yet

Most of my shiny weapons come from wave 40 and 50 of legend onslaught, I played only normal the first week and got only 1 weapon per chest but then changes happened now I'm getting 2 sometimes 3 weapons per 10 waves in legend. And the gold weapons drop much more consistent now then it use to, now I get 1 gold per 50 to 70 waves. So sometimes 1 gold per legend onslaught completion which isn't to bad. The only problem I have now is I played so many hours per day of onslaught it's hard to want to play anymore

It depends. Typical runs take around 50 minutes, 60 if your slow. But you can speed it up by just spawn camping enemies, rushing through the pyramid ship, etc. onslaught is solely based on how fast you can kill the enemies. Speed running it will probably save you 5-10 minutes though

Legend Wave 50 "Casually playing without meta weapons." I wish my team and I were good enough for that so I can complete it even once. :[ Everyone makes it look so easy when we're always getting wiped by wave 40. And we want to reach Legend 50 so badly! Still, I'm at least happy knowing I don't have to drag others into Onslaught if they're burnt out or can go with randoms and get similar rewards in Normal. At least the casual players aren't missing anything substantial other than an emblem, which can be obtained later in TFS if they don't do it now. Cheers for the video comparisons!

The problem is half your weapons on the normal version were random drops, if you only got the minimum amount of random drops aka one at wave fifty you would have gotten seven weapons only, but you got six random drops total, and legend only got half of that, so your numbers are incredibly skewed due to insane rng on the normal run and average for the legend run, it would have been 9 for normal and seventeen for legend had the rng been reversed

would consider myself as a highend PVE player, having cleared multiple day ones and summed up over 4000 hours on steam alone I can confidently say that I would just farm normal mode. legend can get pretty annoying if multiple smaller mistakes happen, just throw on a video or show on another screen and grind away. don't let anybody gaslight you into thinking you're wasting time and drops by not doing legend. great video

Some days fireteam finder is so rough normal runs are tough especially with stasis titan teammates i just leave instantly 😂 not had a single one of those that didn't completely fuq the run up with ice walls sealing overloads in the adu

I believe ive gotten more shiny drops playing normal but obviously ive gotten more tokens playing legend. Personally, I play legend more because I enjoy the challenge and want to try to achieve 50 legend clears. ***NOTE: ALL of my shiny drops have been completely trash, except for one. So 1/15 shiny drops worth using which is embarrassing on bungies part*** Also, what is your load out on your strand titan you're using?

I love Normal, the difference isn't so bad and it goes by a bit faster. I also get to try a variety of builds rather than gluing myself to just one or two. It's the perfect Destiny gamemode.

Legend Onslaught is definitely better for those who are highly skilled at the game. Never ran a legend run myself cause I know damn well I'm gonna be throwing. Normal seems to work just as fine for me, got myself 50 shinies so far! Only god roll I'm hunting for atm is Blast Furnace with Headseeker + Rapid Hit

If my people are on, we go legend every time. If they're not, I go normal onslaught with matchmaking, because I don't trust myself to solo carry legend runs, especially when I don't want to play the most optimized builds.

Legend with randoms is no huge problem at all but you need to quit a game as soon as you see they are not team players (which obviously shows right at wave 5 & 10). If you don't, yes it's extremely hard. I don't even quit when that happens but sit at the Core and let them do all the work. You don't teamplay I don't teamplay 😇...

Well it depends on how you see it. I've got almost all of my (nearly) god rolls from the coins not in game drops. So to me: legend>more coins>more god rolls

It's wrong. They're counting the weekly point ones as part of their loot. You get 1 per 10 waves (4 @ 40). Then you get 4 at wave 50 (2 direct drops if you're unlucky and didn't get the 1-50 drop earlier), and 2 from the actual chests. You get a lot more from legend, this video just doesn't have the most accurate testing (that said the creator put in a lot of effort so good job for that)

@@darky1374 Ah i see. Then this video is misleading. The comparison between normal and legend drops should be comparing the average loot drops between the two modes. On paper, legend should receive at the minimum 5 more drops compared to normal (one extra chest per 10 waves).

@@zPyre Yeah, this is intellectually dishonest though. Even doing 3 runs each to compare would have been better than using ONE sample size to compare the two.

Legend wave 10 is very easy. So I don't see the point in doing normal unless you just want to chill and use any gun you want.

I will clear on legend 50 just to say I did it. But after that I’ll farm normal. It’s not worth the suffering.

I feel like people running wave 50 legends are the same people who run master lost sectors over legends lol. That extra effort just isn’t worth it imo

im super annoyed they didnt let double perk drops to happen after clearing wave 50's boss... like its simple, legend gets you 2, normal always gives you 1.. the fact that they didnt do that was just... dumb.

I didn’t watch the whole video except the summary but I do know the difference between legend and normal in terms of weapon drops should be a difference of 5 at least because all bosses on legend have double drops. Something ain’t adding up with the summary here

This breakdown basically is saying legend isn’t worth the butt ache outside of getting the triumph, you can farm enhancement mats more effectively in the current season activity being the coil,

Legend should drop shiny guns. They are already so rare and even more rare to get a good roll. I do normal 90% of the time. It’s an easy kick back way to get grind.

What about Shaxx reputation? All I have left is to get Shaxx to lvl 17. What's the difference in rep gains? There's about a week left and I'm at lvl 8. Is it worth it to run legend? Or can I get there playing on normal?

Unfortunately I can't test rep gains myself. But you should be fine to run normal onslaught as Bungie just buffed the rep youll get from it.
