I really don't think the designers are actually copying you of course, designs are really similar here and there but you based your work off of already existing mario sets, so of course it's gonna look similar when the real thing comes out and even if it is a few months beforehand, these sets take a long time to make, and the time between release and design is a while and for something like tanooki mario, you based your box art on other mario powerup packs, so yes the actual thing is gonna be near identical

Lego takes a long time to design their products, between licensing and designing the actual sets, and creating molds for new parts also takes a long time. There's only so many ways to make specific enemies, and for stuff like the Power-Up Packs, the template is easy enough to follow that realistically you could make a mock-up of any power-up and it'd be more or less identical to an official Lego version. Lego's not copying you, you just have an understanding of how their set designers would handle stuff in this line.

Considering how both parties here were going off of the same source materials, it would make sense that there would be a lot of similarities design wise. The simplicity of the lego bricks and coming down to the prints on certain bricks, it would HAVE to be very similar.

one time I did a project in college, to design soft drink bottles and marketing for a line of mexician soft drinks being sold in mexico. 2 years after I did that project, I saw on a live cam of MEXICO (i watch the volcano there) there was an advertisement that looked identical to the one I made in school. I looked into it more, and the company had 3 drinks, and all 3 drinks used almost the exact same style I made for my college class, and the advertising, color scheme, even the font was the same. Everyone I showed or told this to all have the same opinion, just a coincidence. I dont buy that, I honestly believe that the teacher of my class was using his students works to submit to companies and make money off their work that way.

Lego designs their sets years in advance. The first wave of lego mario was designed in 2018 and released 2 years later. Same with wave 3, designed in 2019. Using this logic, they are currently working on wave 8 or 9

Hello Bennie, I want to comment that the truth is that I consider it correct that lego take your ideas for the LEGO Super Mario sets, since as you design characters before them and all that in a unique way, then they are forced to have to use your ideas so if you ever think about complaining about them taking your designs I would recommend that you don't do it, or if you wanted to charge them for taking a unique character design don't do it either, better let them take your ideas if they know you from free of charge, probably in the future they can hire you as an official LEGO designer

I think the builds are similar cuz if you are looking of nintendo characters you would want to get all of the details but lego is trying to get the details to so they would end up looking similar for example the galoomba your galoomba is similar because there is not much different possibilities of expresions on the face so its similar to legos design

I think it's cool that the ideas are similar it proves how good of a deziner you are and what pices to use due to knolege of Lego specially charaters like Mario ones. I also like that this ain't a rant vid but a humble one instead of being mad you want to work with Lego given the opportunity wich other people would be all mad na you want to work with Lego to make more great stuff wich would be awesome I've seen fans who are passionate do some stuff like sculpt, paint, and dezine cool stuff for their favorite topic and some stuff looks way cool their are also instances where theirs a lack of merchandise for something and the fans make stuff for it wich is cool that a fan project can be good enough to be considered merch for a topic. Overall I think your customs are awesome and that Lego has the same idea should make you feal happy cause you can do what they do and your just a fan and their a company with multipule designers so great job.
