I remember the devs saying that they tried not to make the UI too different from fromsoft games so that souls fans can adapt to Lies of P more easily. They're huge fromsoft fans themselves so I see why they went this way. Also they said that they wanted to focus 100% of their development resources to make singleplayer gameplay experience as great as they can, so I understand the lack of multiplayer, although I agree that messages could be good addition to the game.

I had the same general feelings about this game all around. When I fell into the black hole of this game, the only thing that could pull me away from it was getting the Platinum trophy. Even the lore is top tier.

I absolutely loved Lies of P. It was difficult for me as it was a first time souls-like game for me. I loved the Lore, the cryptic vessel side quests, the immersion of gameplay, etc. I think that FromSoft should see it as flattery that the style and atmosphere is so much like their games. I look forward to the DLC and sequel they have told us is coming. I hope that if they add some multi-player options that they continue with a single-player option as well because I truly only play single-player games. I loved the literary references and hints through the game of the coming DLC and sequel. The inactive golden Stargazer and the mad hatter, aka Giangio 😂 among other things. I've been working through Sekiro but I do like Lies of P better because the storyline is mostly easy to follow and it is familiar. I find the lore for FromSoft games much more complicated and harder to understand. Not that it's bad just more difficult to get immersed in the story when you don't understand it si I have to watch lore videos first to try to understand the actual storyline.

The best souls like tbh

I think the combat is superior in a lot of ways. Lies of P makes doing chip damage to a boss fun, something I rarely experience in souls games. But the exploration and level design is several notches below FromSoftware.

Don't mean to be like that but no, fromsoft didn't create a very high level of games especially to begin with and no they didn't create the genre. They just somehow, magically, popularized it. If you wanna argue one developer created it it's definitely Koei Techmo with their 3d ninja gaiden games. Further more, Koei's nioh was in development at the same time as darknsouls1, development time was just longer for nioh so it released later. Truth be told tho, 'souls like' is just a metroidvania with higher difficulty and often times, cheap deaths.

Actually you're a bit wrong about the game itself, I'm gonna reply as you talk about them. Firstly, it doesn't follow Disney's version of Pinocchio but rather the original and draws a lot more inspiration from that than from Disney's version. Secondly, you don't actually play as Pinocchio, the game just hints at it, you play as a reincarnation of Carlo. Third, the story is actually 2 part in a sense. It's a very interesting and direct take on the 'role playing' aspect, the story you're being actually told is the story that your character is being told, however if you want to ACTUALLY understand the story, not just the lies and manipulation the characters feed you, you have to dive into the lore such as item descriptions etc. Forth, it's not about 'lying' it's literally about what they call the whole system "humanity", which actually mimics the original story too. You need to be as humane as possible throughout the game, part of being human is being able to lie. Some of the lies turn out to actually be true and vice versa. Basically if you play the game the way YOU as a human most likely would with empathy, in other word role play, you will end up with the good/best ending. However if you try to play the game the way you think the game wants you to play (in other words, a machine) you end up as a puppet. It's a beautifully crafted system truth be told. Oh and regarding to 'p organ' and what it sounds like.. The INSANE thing is that P apparently sounds like how you pronounce the Korean word for 'blood'. Is that deliberate? Well, it's a heart called 'blood organ', so you tell me. What's even more amazing about that tidbit is that it even opens up the title of the game to mean and refer to a whole slew of things if you dove into the story once you realize the actual title of the game is "Lies of blood" rather than "Lies of P(Pinocchio)". Regarding the weapon degradation, I see your point. However the system isn't there as 'another form of challenge' but rather as 'another form of reward' since if you play well, you won't even notice it's there honestly. That and you can grind your weapons to have different effects which is huge.

Oh no you need to play Bloodborne before you say Lies of P can compete with souls games. I beat Lies a few times and I’m playing Bloodborne again I gotta rewire my entire brain because Lies of P is so easy. Lies of P is very linear and very few enemies scattered very far from each other. But yeah play Bloodborne and Lies will seem good but not up there with souls games. Piecing the story together in fromsoft games is one of the best things in Lies everything is explained in letters and notes
