The Loch Ness Monster roller coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg originally opened in 1978 and is the first roller coaster in the world to feature interlocking loops. Forty-Six years later, the iconic attraction is the last coaster with interlocking loops remaining and is now open in May of 2024 following a full restoration that includes all-new thematic and experiential elements. The Legend Lives On!

I haven't ridden this in so many years, but it was my first looper, and it's so nice to see this classic still going and getting love.

I first rode Nessie way back in 1978 about a month after it opened. Was my first steel coaster. I faithfully rode it multiple times a year until 1988 when my family moved away from Virginia Beach to Florida. I was lucky enough to get to ride it again in 1990 when I was going to school while in the Army at Ft Eustis. I do have plans to visit again in 2025 and hopefully in 2028 to celebrate Nessie's 50th birthday.

Next up, Refurbishment of Corkscrew at Cedar Point. It was the 1st Steel Rollercoaster in The World to have 3 Inversions and the 1st Rollercoaster in The World to Span Over an Active Midway. Kudos to The Bush Gardens Team on restoring Lochness Monster, and she'll be Thrilling Park Guests for Many Decades to Come!!🎢‼️❤️

@@TheAdventureSpot I would also love it if S&S World Wide build new Trains for Corkscrew. The new generation Trains that Arrow Dynamics use on Canyon Blaster at Adventure Dome in Las Vegas, and what operated on Drachen Fire. Those Trains ride very comfortable with more arm room. What I mean by that, when sitting on the left, or right sides of the Trains I can raise my arm all the way up that's closest to the side of the car.. something I've also noticed. When going through the Corkscrew Elements on Canyon Blaster, the transitions are smooth. I think it's the fact that the Corkscrew Elements on Canyon Blaster doesn't have the Lattice Arches, and the Track has more flexibility vs Corkscrew at Cedar Point. And Lattice Arches aren't used on the 2 Vertical Loops on Canyon Blaster either. Just the traditional Tubular Steel Columns. It makes the Coaster have a sleeker look. Arrow later on realized that they didn't have to use all of that unnecessary steel. I kinda wish that the Interlocking Loops on Lochness Monster were rebuilt that way.

They did such a great job with the renovation. Loch Ness Monster is my zero coaster. I just wish they had been so nostalgic in 2009 with Big Bad Wolf 🐺.

Im so glad some parks see the value and significance of these old Arrows. I hope one day Six Flags Great America will do the same with Demon. In my opinion, Demon is another one of those coasters that has a personality of its own that a great refurb and themeing refresh like Nessies would bring out again.
