Louis ck is always roasting racism - he was on the radio once with a racist guy and he put the jokes aside to really make some good points about the ugliness of slavery and racism and how white people need to understand and empathize with black ppl. After I saw that I always knew Louis was a real one and his jokes weren’t aimed to hurt anyone

i think a major issue that stops white people from learning about americas real history, is internal stuff. unless the whole country goes to therapy, this country will continue on its ugly path. Michael Parenti - inventing reality, Noam Chomsky - manufacturing consent, Howard Zinn - History of the United states, were great books for me

he has some of the greatest jokes of all time, he's so good its crazy, that clip with him and Patrice, he said was one of his favorite moments of his entire life, making Patrice belly laugh. that same episode Patrice found out that Louis was born in Mexico, that half his family, is mexican, his grandfather was a (hungarian?) jew who fled europe and that led to the conversation that patrice started.

@@diplamatikjuan3595 yes and no, I’m a giant love of stand up and Patrice and Louis ck. I liked o&a for the comedy but when it went bad it got really bad. Opie just tanked and Anthony as funny as he is, kinda drifted off. Jim Norton is great , and a bunch of the people who got their hands dirty in the o n a area are really great. Bobby Kelly, bill burr. Etc. i miss Patrice a lot. I wish I could have seen him live.

@@King_of_Apathy Yeah, that show's fall off was one of the most drastic I've seen. For those few years they really captured lightning in a bottle with that show. Those comics trashing each other in the most savage way possible had me cracking up on a regular. It's just depressin what happened to Anthony. Opie got a lot of hate (from me too at the time), but when you see what Ant becomes without the rigid structure of Opie it shows that he was a vital ingredient after all. Patrice, Louie and Burr are definitely in my top 5. Maybe if Colin Quinn released more shit he'd probably be in my Top 10.. I still rewatch Tough Crowd from time to time...makes me miss Patrice even more. Have you heard that old Roast of of Patrice btw? All the great comics went in on each other - it was HILARIOUS!

he wasnt on the phone, there were two women in the room with him and he asked if they wanted to watch him jerk off they said sure, he did, then decades later they said that they felt like they couldnt say no because they were working with him and so "they were coerced into something they didnt want to do." he lost 100's of millions of dollars and lost work and people he was working with lost their work because he couldnt work, then when he tried to do some stand up, a person secretly filmed it and posted it online, causing more outcry because he had the "audacity" to try and joke about it and to try and do his job 'stand up comedy'.

It is weird. My gut instinct is just "say 'no thank you'". Or if you say "yes, please" and regret it, well maybe you learned something. We all do sex stuff we don't want to do for various reasons, be it to up your lay count as a kid to impress your friends or feel like you're the shit, or some chick blows you and you're just nice enough to not stop her horrible attempt even though she's terrible at it, etc. It is what it is. It's not a big deal. That being said, I don't know what the whole job social situation is for comics. I've workbanged before, but in more normal work situations, so I guess it's not comparable.

Depends on the hoodie. Athletes usually wear pullover hoodies, especially if they are school-issued because you can practice in them. A lot of people don't think about it but the slider of a zipper on the front of a hoodie can be very dangerous if it snags someone's lip or eyelid while they're moving quickly.

I don’t think he’s roasting anything. It’s observational… he recognizes the social context that exists around race, pokes at it and comments on it, it clearly seems to make him uncomfortable, but it’s not his opinion or “roast” or “takedown” that makes it funny, it’s how he can make what seem like outrageous or maybe even offensive observations feel universal.

6:56 the white hoodie thing is cultural. USA black guys generally hold themselves to a high fashion standard usually, so when the black guys have dusty shoes & a dark hoodie pulled all the way over the head, they often have something going on. Cuz they aren’t culturally inclined to go out in public all dusty. White guys on the other hand, often dress like dorks with only utility / comfort in mind, so they go out after the gym or after fishing , with their shoes and hoodie all ridiculous looking. It’s common to see a white guy in a sweaty college hoodie that’s soaking their gym dirt while they wait in line at chipotle.

Hoodies didn't really become common casual wear until the 2000s. In the 80s and 90s movie and tv characters who were athletes training often wore sweatpants and hoodies (usually with a rowel wrapped around their neck like in the Rocky training scene). Louis CK would also have thought the black guy in the hoodie was an athlete if he wasn't "mildly racist" like the joke says
