Meidum is Egypt’s least known pyramid and its most mysterious. It stands tall and proud and looks like a castle’s keep. The complex it belongs to is one of the largest monuments in the world. Thanks to the use of drones and archeology 2.0, scientists are able to dive to the heart of this open-air structure. They decipher the various steps behind this colossal endeavor and the revolutionary techniques used at the time that made it possible for this monument to withstand the test of time.
Meidum tells the mysterious story of an unusually big project that spread over four decades.

Well, observation is key. I've always thought that not every ancient building is a tume or a temple. Especially in this case, pyramids.(we assume we know what they are but no understanding at all it's meaning and it's blueprint.) Especially In Africa and along Mediterranean the Middle East and into the Indus Valley to China. I think it could be many kinds person's of wealth/power could create or build or have a hand in leaving their name to history but can't even explain their history because it's not locals testimonials it's Dr you know telling us how he knows

What I don't understand is the reason why it necessary belongs to the IV dynasty. For which reason couldn't be an innovation brought out by the last Pharaoh of Dynasty III. I know Huni has a controversial history presence, many think he never existed, but give all the credits to Sneferu sounds like a sloppy escamotage as well, made just to avoid dating problematic. I don't know about its paternity, what I know is that Egyptology needs a lot of further research, implemented by stopping Mark Lehner's attitude for easy assumptions, just to shut asking mouths up. Research and Hard work is the only way to get useful information, instead of dogmatic conclusions based on empty assumptions!

When you make assumptions you know what happens. These are not burial sites.

This is .Micbel Gamil RABBAT Egyptian American in Florida....In order to understand the .Medum. construction remember Snefru s name means the perfectionist..Though deified Imhotep built Snefru s son s pyramid he .ust have worked on Snefru s projects.unmentioned the most important is the canal. now called Bahr Used..that brought the. Nile flood water to irrigate the Fayyum depression and store its water. This provided the wealth to build close to Lake Karoon the. vast Labyrinth..the glory of Snefru..he extended a canal. north towards Medium. This was extended by a deep gash with steps used to raise stones delivered to Fayyum up to the Saqqara promontory. He may have created the underground. Serapeum. Since he and following pharaohs were not building tombs but pedestals for BenBaan Pyramidion they. devised rooms and. corbelled spaces. t .

It's well documented that Sneferu captured 11,000 Libyans, for use as workers or slaves but notice only "Nubian slaves" is mentioned. Sadly even today, racist reporting of ancient Egypt is done!

I believe it's a collapsed pyramid tomb. The burial chamber may have been left unfinished because as it was being given the finishing touches by the workmen there was a tremendous roar and shout from the outside that the whole pyramid had collapsed. Sneferu, the head honcho I'm sure was perfectly happy anticipating spending eternity in this smooth faced pyramid, but it was not to be. The builders of the pyramid at Meidum went on to build the Bent Pyramid, which also failed for a different reason, then finally the Red Pyramid, the first successful smooth faced pyramidal tomb, but which itself needed some adjustments finally made in the Great Pyramid at Giza, but it was in the Red Pyramid that Sneferu persuaded himself to be buried. Third time was the charm. What the pyramid at Meidum represents to me as a student of the Great Pyramid is that as a building it represents a misstep in the evolution of the more perfect pyramidal form in its broader evolution from its genesis in the pyramid of Djoser to its fulfillment then in the Great Pyramid at Giza. So at the pyramid of Djoser we see the use of large and high traditional mastaba platforms, stacked one atop the other (both at Saqqara and at Khufu's tomb they seem to be six in number!). These larger platforms were in turn made up of smaller courses of horizontal masonry. What the pyramid at Meidum represents to me as a student of the Great Pyramid is that as a building it represents a misstep in the evolution of the more perfect pyramidal form from its genesis in the pyramid of Djoser to its fulfillment in the Great pyramid at Giza. So at Saqqara you see the direct origins of the engineering heart of many subsequent pyramids, including all those at Giza, including the Queen's pyramids at the Great Pyramid's feet! And the Great Pyramid itself! And the Great Pyramid itself yes at its core is a series of stepped mastabas. Think about that in relation to how the Great Pyramid was built! But in the beginning at Saqqara the designers were not concerned at all in cloaking their stepped pyramid in a smooth face. When Sneferu became king, he was persuaded or he himself came up with the idea that a smooth faced pyramid would be more suitable aesthetically, perhaps a more perfect manifestation in stone of a monument to the solar and its beneficent power. So at Meidum the engineers used the basic stepped form as the core of the structure, and flushed out the surface to give the pyramid a smooth face. But at Meidum there was no horizontal support for this heavy fascia, and when it crashed it took much of the core with it. The rub here is that then in the subsequent buildings the engineers appreciated the role of the horizontal faces of the larger platforms to support and constrain the load from the stone fascia. But it is undoubtedly a pyramidal tomb. And the discussion of the entry above grade is startling. Had to be a ramp (including at the Great Pyramid), to get in to the beasts! Again, ponder that if thinking about how the Great Pyramid was built. SZ BA MA Art History and Architecture

Why are you lot still calling them burial chambers? It’s old and boring. I do not believe in the slightest that he built those three pyramids in 40 years. It’s about as unbelievable as the burial chamber crud.
