Nice work- just one thing! The tuners you took off were the correct ones, not these new tulip ones you installed. Kluson does make the correct model with small button tuners and either "single line" or "double line" logos, whichever was used that year. In the case of my '62 it was the "single line". That refers to how the "Kluson Deluxe" text is stamped on the back. I believe it would be the same model for your guitar. You see a lot of people changing to the tulip ones though since they have been more readily available than the small button models.

you couldn't POSSIBLY be comparing a totally chopped refinished, changed bridge, repaired headstock, changed guard, wrong tuners 57 C&W to the all original one that Rick has just to get views from putting his name in the video title.....could you?

Hi J, I had a '57 Southern Jumbo - all original, and have seen several SJ's and Country Westerns over the years; none had the tulip tuners. They all had tuners like the ones you removed. Hmmm.

I’ve played the same ‘57 CW since 1970 or so. One of my grandparents bought it for my older brother in @ 1960 for $200 as I remember. He played in high school, then my other brother played it, then I took it over. Play it pretty much every day. All original except I had Grover tuners put on in 1978. Sounds better and better with age. I hope one of my grandkids will eventually take it over.

I love everything about that Gibson!! I too love a good guitar hunt and I have a guy living literally around the corner from me with a 2004 Breedlove D/SRE, Sitka too, rosewood sides and back, all solid wood and made in America. I looked on reverb and the one I can find there is $2100. My neighbor is asking $900 obo. Do you have any thoughts or opinions on Breedlove, maybe specifically this order Dreadnought model. It’s in excellent condition with electronics and hard case.

Such a great story! It sounds wonderful. I love the label! Where did you get the tuners? I have a 1947 00-17 that I'd like to get period correct tuners for. The closest I have seen is from Kluson. They have an open back cream button model that looks really close.

I picked one of these (also a 1957) up at a garage sale last year for $25. It needs a lot of work (it can be played right now, but it has a high action toward the body). I hope to soon be able to get it back to where it should be.

I feel the Martin D18 is better made than the Gibson. But the Gibson J-45 sounds better. It does. And I guess if I ever get the money I’d probably grab a J-45 . Regarding the guitar you have here in the video , it sounds absolutely amazing. That’s a beast bro. What model is that?
