Being a carby if you're getting crank on startup then it's probably the auto choke holding it back. Cheap and easy to replace. In the meantime just stab it a few times while you crank.

A few things with TB42 carby motors - service the ignition system and replace the dizzy cap (genuine Bosch only), extended rotor button from Patrolapart, new points and new condenser. While you’re there it’s easy as to do leads and plugs to make sure the ignition system is all in check. They can be fussy with thermostats, genuine Nissan from Patrolapart is guaranteed to be good but sometimes the aftermarket ones are ok too. Carbies can be very temperamental but once they’re running sweet you should be right.

Finally something interesting, not just a 100k 79 series with 100k “chassis extension and canopy” build

Rex, you should look at raptor coating the car will make it look brand new and doesn't cost a arm and a leg

I recon you should raptor coat the truck! It’s easy to do, cheap ish, and doesn’t scratch in the bush as it’s like bed liner!

Start issue maybe the ignition barrel, just had to replace mine, it would run perfectly but just not start occasionally, checked the barrel and the back of it just came apart in my hand

Have a nightmare. I have to changed the light bulbs in the 2000 Camry LE AC/Heater. Don't know how to do this. So I went to the Toyota dealership took my vin number they copied a diagram for me. Still it didn't show me how to take the thing apart to put the light bulbs in. I know what size it takes a number 74. It'll take 2 of them. So I went on KZfaq. Found one guy that was changing standard light bulbs to led. That's what I'm going to replace mine with. His Camry was a 2000 like mine. He changed the lights in the dashboard, console, and AC/Heater as well. If you have any suggestions would like to hear them.
