Is Myanmar (Burma) Safe To Travel during civil war? In this Myanmar vlog I arrive to Yangon airport and its my first day in Myanmar formerly known as Burma. All you hear in the news about Myanmar is bad news and conflict which is a reality in Myanmar. Many people told me not to visit Myanmar stating its not safe to travel because of the current civil conflict in the country but I wanted to see this southeast Asian country for myself. Is Yangon, Myanmar (burma) safe to travel in 2023? Watch my first day in Myanmar travel vlog and find out what is going in in Myanmar.

Who am I?
A man from the USA trying to discover the world one place at a time, while sharing the experiences through my lens. I like traveling to places that are usually not first on most people’s itinerary and showing everyone that these places are worth the journey. I want to experience all the countries I visit as a member of the society but at the same time learn about the culture, food and beautiful people. Growth is not achievable without leaving your comfort zone, so just do it!

Safe travels, bro. You should be mostly safe if you stay in the big cities such as Yangon, Mandalay, or Naypyitaw. Foreigners are usually left alone unless they happen to be in some restricted areas. But do keep your eyes and ears open, because things can change quickly - the country is in civil war.

I've been to Myanmar four times over the years. The first time was when they were ruled by the junta before the opening up, and at that time it was very closed. No cell phones, internet only at internet cafes, most folks wearing traditional clothing, old Japanese cars. Then subsequent visits after the opening up there were always rapid and huge changes. They junked the aged Japanese cars and newer cars were seen (and a lot more of them), cell providers came in and made phones accessible to more folks, more people adopted Western clothes, big modern malls came in, etc. It still has its charm and unique culture and is an amazing place to visit filled with friendly and wonderful people. I hope to go back again one day.

Myanmar is truly a hidden gem :D The more you dig the more you see from drastic change in environment/scenary from place to place to the Multicultural ethnics in all 4 corners. We also share a lot of similarities in food culture with 2 superpowers - India to the east and China to the west. Enjoy the Visit my man. GOOD LUCK and Have FUN!!!!

I'm from the Philippines. We had/have a civil war for the longest time and it's ridiculous how the foreign press exaggerates the news. Even worse are the travel advisories from Western embassies from countries that have normalized mass shootings of civilians and hooliganism. The skirmishes in remote areas and the problems that come with a civil war are real, but for the larger number of the population, life goes on. And I doubt the Myanmar situation is anywhere near Ukraine's. Thank you for this video as I'm planning to visit Myanmar again, this time with the whole family.

@@myertravelsand Myanmar was using UK driving system obviously because we were a British Colony. But, it was ordered to change to US driving system during General Nay Win dictatorship. However, a lot of old care with UK system were still in used and used cars from Japan were allowed to be imported until recently. Now, very difficult to import right hand drive cars to Myanmar meaning we are in a transition period :)

Lots of 2nd hand cars imported from Japan, of good quality and cheap, hence they're right-hand drive. But the brand new ones, from the dealership, are mostly, if not all are Left-hand drive, like in the States. In the 80's the Philippines also allowed right-hand driven vehicles on the major roads but totally banned it altogether in the mid 90's due to higher accident rates 👌.

My heartbroken side tells me whatever civil war is going on in Myanmar is a direct karma for their ethnic cleansing campaign against the Rohingya Muslims. But my optimistic side tells me most people were uninformed and got brainwashed by their government into believing they were right almost like what’s going on with the Israeli genocide. I want to believe the latter is true and really hope it is. Thanks for representing us Muslims in a positive way and being a good example.

Do you think it is safe to visit Addis Abana Ethiopia over the next few months? My wife has family there, but the last few years have been challenging. We are mixed couple with 6 year old daughter.

Yes it’s okay but you definitely have to be a lot more careful than in the past.

Thanks my friend. Keep up the travel and vlogging. I'll be sure to drop your name when visiting some of the places in your Addis videos. 😊

One reason to keep major cities all sparkling is to hide the horrors in the rest of the country.most regimes around the world do this.
