Who on earth would argue students should be playing on their phones in school! We coudn't play cards or pass notes ever. It is shocking peopel are aruging kids need phones in class? Can these tached use their phones in their meetings at work can anyone ignore their work in a meeting seminar or even a movie?

Social media and cellphones have destroyed young minds.

At no time have I heard any mention of the parents part in this.

Why do kids need cellphones in school? If there is a nuclear strike or a super tornado, everyone will be made aware by emergency services. Kids never had cell phones in the past and studied, if a family emergency occurred the school was contacted or the police showed up : that would be the response for a critical emergency that needed an immediate response. How many kids receive must come home call from any one because our house had burned down or Dad has had a heart attack? A very very very small number. Again ,emergency services handle this quite well. How to enforce the ban ? Easy. 1. ask everyone to turn off their phones and put away in their carry all. 2.If they can not do this, then have them turn over the device to a storage container on the teacher's desk and returned after class.3. If student refuses to comply, then send the student home. The parents who see school as a a baby sitting service will see to it that their child complies because they do not want the inconvenience of doing the baby sitting themselves. All the above is called discipline and courtesy and a needed skill if you want to have a job as an adult.

They should get rid of cellphones permanently, we lived thousands of years without it. Let's bring back the old days with a landline phone.

We didn't even have these functions on our phones when we went to school. They 100% don't need them.

Patient Relations is a misnomer. Their mandate is to protect the hospital from lawsuits. They are charged with finding out what the family knows and god help any nurse or doctor who is truthful with the family about what happened. The correct name is Hospital Guardian. If you want to improve emerg depts. slash the ridiculous salaries and pensions of the hospital senior management. Cut their salaries by 50 percent and hire an extra 20 emerg nurses.

They have had a uniform calculator requirement, why not a uniform phone which is only able to use as a phone or text. The real problem is the smart functionality.

💥 It better be it has plays no part in education im a 92 baby and we got our phones taken away till the end of the day by whatever teacher caught us using it... its rude to everyone around us.. we arnt supposed to have them during work hours so why should kids get them during school hours? We weren't allowed to call our parents whenever we wanted why the hell should we be at our childs beckoning call. This is the problem with all government employees. They are paid more than equivalent jobs in the private sector. They have gold plated pensions. Best in class benefits and job security. All paid for by the taxpayer

Tbh, I think if they're asking students to put away their cell phones, higher ups should ban teachers and admin from telling kids to go to school when they're too sick to function. It's also concerning for students with IEPs and who use AAC and other assistive technologies. I won't pretend I know what it's like to be a teacher, but working and learning alongside them and hearing about their working conditions I wish their were more nuances applied to these issues in post pandemic education.

Back in my day, they tried really hard to crack down on stopping kids from chewing gum. That never worked, know why? We were kids, and breaking rules is what we did. I also wondering if teacher confiscation phones, will they be responsible for them. They are expensive and if they go missing or are returned broken, will teacher come good for replacement or repair?

That is amazing that you guys are catching on now I don't know. This is like my 5th year in huge stomach pains. And I found out ibs irritable barrel syndrome runs in our family, not just that the other stomach issues running our family, but because I was using marijuana. for my depression, stress. And I came off my medication to be on marijuana instead. Literally. that hospital. accused me for overdosing on one gram That I weighed out I used to be really good on schedule for that, but. since they keep telling me that I'm overdosing. It's kind of funny. I'm smoking more now less than I was smoking maybe less than a gram, two a gram. Now I'm smoking a whole ounce right now. Physically, I'm smoking a whole ounce. and my stomach don't hurt because I eat what my Papa's been eating the first. person in my family that has irritable bowel syndrome. I'm following everything he eats and it was funny. I haven't had to go back to the emerge since. I went to a family doctor. and they said, yeah, I could have irritable bowel syndrome. That hospital should really get checked. They also broke my brother's arm. That's a different story.

In principle, I agree. HOWEVER! Kids need access to phones to contact parents, police, etc., because Ontario Ed is so cowardly, backward and weak that the adults refuse to adult. Make sure you’re hiring competent people who don’t abuse and gaslight students, then talk about a ban.
