World 3 was originally going to be a game called "Pac-Man Adventures" and famous animator Don Bluth was involed in the project. Everything fell apart for unknown reasons and Namco gave Blitz Game the task of saving whatever they could and turn it into the third pac-man world game

I really enjoyed the third game despite its many issues. Re-Pac from 2022 was a fun update to an underrated PS1 classic.

Recently, Pacman's official Twitter profile did a survey about what we thought of the Remake Re-pac and what we would like to see in the future of the franchise. It is not unreasonable to think that they are working on another installment of World, whether it be another remake or new game.

also a funny addendum: the psp port of pacman world 3 features a multiplaywr multiple psp mode very similar to pacman vs in the gamecube release of World 2!

Pac Man World 2 is such a liminal type game for me. Especially that forest part. The music, fog, loneliness and art design are such an interesting vibe that brings me back. I never got far enough in that game. I think I got stuck somewhere in the mountains, never got to underwater or volcano. I probably would have quit considering the difficulty got me even earlier. Hoping to see a remaster to maybe tone the difficulty a bit like you said.

Part of the reason why Pac-man World 3 was such a departure is because allegedly it started out as a completely different game, that actually had involvement with Don Bluth of all people. Don Bluth who you might recognise from Dragons Lair, Secret of NIMH, and American Tale had a very interesting vision for the game. Allegedly he drew a lot of alien designs and had a mechanic where pac-man lost control, whatever that means. The project was scrapped and reworked into Pac-Man World 3, but you can see some remnants of it in the combat system and the plot of the game revolving around the ghost world and pac-man world merging together. It was a pretty outlandish concept from the sounds of it, but the concept art and idea sound very interesting. The concept art almost looks like something from a game like Psychonauts, and even Rayman to some extent. It's actually worth looking at if you're curious

I've only played 3 and the remake of 1 and had a blast with both. 3 is one of my favorite of all time

Ngl it is pretty interesting seeing your presepctive on Pac-Man World 2 & 3, a little shocked it was the boardwalk level that made you frustrated imo its one of the best levels. Especially since it comes after the extremely broing submarine level. Still though great video! Also it would be interesting too see you look at Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness and Pac-Man World Rally, those games have some interesting things to talk about.

Pac-Man World 1 & 3 have Widescreen Support. World 2 also does but only on Xbox for some reason

I always had a soft spot for World 3 growing up, mainly for how different it felt compared to the first two. Going back to it so many years later was a nightmare, though. The combat gets so repetitive so quick and it becomes such a slog to get through.

It's been over a decade since I played World 3, but I'm pretty sure when I played it that it felt like a mid-tier movie tie in game. (IK it isn't a movie tie in but it just has that vibe, if that makes sense)

I've only played Pacman world 2, but it's probably one of my most favorite games. I personally think the quality of it looks very good for it's time, especially compared to the PS2 Spongebob games. I think it mostly has to do with the lighting and textures being very well done.

Ah, always nice to see more people talk about the Pac-Man World trilogy. It goes without saying that Pac-Man World 2 is my favorite entry in the series, but the original game is also really good, and I even enjoyed Pac-Man World 3. The game has its flaws, sure, but that script contains some of the funniest material to come out of the entire Pac-Man franchise, so that makes it worth the trouble in my opinion. While I don't know how well Pac-Man World Re-Pac did, Bandai Namco did put out a survey about the game and what people would like to see in the future. While I doubt we'll get a proper Pac-Man World 4 at long last, as much as I'd like one, I'd be willing to settle for Pac-Man World 2 getting the Re-Pac treatment. Either way, I'm just happy this series was given another chance. ...well, that and also Klonoa, which has since become one of my all time favorite franchises! If you're interested, I do recommend giving the games a shot; they're 2.5D platformers that are easy to pick up and play, ooze with charm and have stories that go places you wouldn't expect from a game of this nature.

I love your deep dives but this reminds me of the videos you did covering RAC Future, the UbiArt Rayman duology or the Timesplitters trilogy (btw I really want you to reupload your Rayman Sings and TSTrilogy to your archive so i can rewatch those). I like getting your first impressions of these games, i myself have only played Re-Pac and it's pretty good im happy to say! For series I'd want you to cover? In terms of first impressions idk if youve ever played the Hitman or GTA series but that could be fun. Maybe Saints Row or some of the old Battlefront games on PS2 too. I say that because all of those sort of fit your channel's aesthetic of cozy Y2K era gaming

I really appreciate Pac-man World Repac's existence. So many remakes nowadays feel like their existence is pointless because the original game holds up fine. Metal Gear Solid 3 holds up perfectly and doesn't need a remake, they really should have remade the MSX Metal Gear instead. Persona 3 Reload is another example- Previous versions of Persona 3 hold up fine and it while it did need a definitive version, the remake isn't even that due to the lack of a female protagonist. Meanwhile Persona 1 has aged rather poorly and could use a big update, but it didn't get the remake. Now I'm not saying Metal Gear Solid Delta and Persona 3 Reload are bad remakes or bad games by any means, just that remaking them because they're popular entries is a bad reason to remake them. So it's very pleasing to me that Namco decided to remake the original Pac-man World, despite its sequel being more popular. They remade the game that absolutely needed the remake more instead of chasing after a popular title.

Pac Man World 2 & 3 were my favorite games on the PS2 back then.

I saw a really cool 50fps trailer for Pac-Man World 2 on a PS2 demo disc in 2002. It took me 10 years to actually find the game. It's almost like Namco didn't want to sell the game in Europe. It was IMPOSSIBLE to find. The version I have is for the Gamecube, but I'd expect it to be better like most multiplats are lol.

Gotta check these out at some point, they seem right up my alley.

I've had a collection on the ps2 that had 2,3, and Rally but I've only really played and beaten 2. Rally was a really fun kart racer but 3 never really stuck with me.

I've only seen clips of the World games, super neat and fun for the most part, those cameras ugh. Pac-Man speaking is only mildly terrifying, might get around to playing these some day!

heres my takeaways on the trilogy! Pac man world wouldve been amazing if it wasn't for the consistently terrible bosses holding it back Pac man world 2 is really really great aside from having a kinda muddy art direction Pac man world 3 has some really good ideas and probably has the best writing in any piece of pac man media but the emphasis on beat em up gameplay and really dreary art direction bring it down re pac basically fixes every problem world 1 had and is damn near perfect imo

I really recomend you play pac-man world re-pac not only is the graphics super good but it fixed manny of the problems the original had. Pac-man feels soo good to play in this game tho, 😊.

I have played all of these games but I've only ever beaten Re-Pac, which I thought was fun enough to complete. I actually had World 3 as a kid but I'm pretty sure I didn't think much of it

Pac-Man World 1 is one of the best 3D platformers on the PS1, PMW2 is one of the best collect-a-thons from the 6th gen. PMW3's combat was a weak point, but we got an excellent voice and personality for Pac-Man himself and the platforming was still good.

I adore Pac-Man World 2, warts and all. A remake would be really cool, iron out the kinks like the camera and polish up some of the level design/balance. There's a lot of potential there but it needs a decent budget, or at least bigger than Repac had

The cutscenes in these were always a tad uncanny to me. But the first game was fun for the bit I played at friends houses growing up!

Playing Pac man world 2 on my 240hz monitor was just... Holy smokes the physics are completely broken.

I remembered liking World 2 but also remembered that I never finished it, now I know why lol. As for Repac, be warned that it looks and feel a lot like your usual remake where everything is fine at first but the more you look the more painful it gets. Like ramps glitching out or the shadow being realistic instead of always being under you to help with landings. Oh and not being able to skip the slot machine thing, I just want to play the game man. I'd rather replay world 1 with save states.

I believe that Pac-Man World 2's first couple worlds are genuinely peak platforming from that generation. If they kept up that quality it would've rivaled the best from those consoles. It's unfortunate that it starts to become kinda unbearable in the lava world and beyond.

I've only every played World 2, back in the day when it was originally released. I thought it was okay platformer, but not awesome. I still have my save data on a memory card. Incidentally to this video, I picked up a copy of the game for myself about a week ago.

Pac-Man World 1 original was fun for the first half of the game, but just got too frustrating in the 2nd half (Re-Pac definitely improves things, so I much prefer that over the original). World 2 was kind of the same for me as World 1, although it wasn't as frustrating as 1, mainly just in the lava world you mentioned. World 3 I actually enjoyed some, though it did get repetitive at times and kind of dragged along in some areas. The music and worlds made you think it was a dark and edgy game, but the humor and characters made it quite comedic and it was just a weird blend. These aren't my favorite games by any means, but I did have some fun with them.

I only played a bit of World 1 long time ago and while I can't remember anything specifically bad with it, I got bored really fast. It doesn't help that ps1 has so many unique and interesting platformers I would rather play.

I enjoyed the Pac-Man World series, I played 3 first then one and two... I do think they are all great, but I wasn't too keen on the beat-em-up gameplay though. But Pac-Man World 1 (the PS1 version, and not the Re-Pac one) and 2 had voice acting though.

hot take: pac man world 2 is heavily overrated, at least in terms of level design, the game has the terrible super mario 3d world/nsmb world problem, with the regular grass, lava, snow, etc. i find replaying the game heavily boring, except for the forest levels. pmw 1 and 3 had way more interesting locations, like pirates, haunted areas, and even space levels for pmw 1, and pmw 3 had like, mechanic wastelands and sewers (take note i stopped playing pmw3 after like the desert, tomb world). pmw 2 does have the best gameplay though, and i wont deny that it is the best in the series.

TBH the TY the Tasmanian Tiger Trilogy is WAY better than the Pac-Man Trilogy.
