Commendable analysis by Dr Asim Sajjad. All these military interventions are always directly and indirectly perpetuated by US and has gained mutual benefits from such rules. If even we accept the general perceptions of corrupts lot of politicians, then comparing to India we're no different yet they have strengthened the democratic system and they're now emerging as regional power while we are on ventilator. Sanity should prevail and Army must be shown the exit door in political setups.

An answer to Gen sb! A state is not mere a land of people it also has a government which has to run the state and most importantly the sovereignty which in real sense protect the state as well as the people, hence sovereignty of the state divided into external and internal sovereignty. By external sovereignty it means that a state has the right to be governed by the people living in it with out foreign aggression, now Army an institution is the preserver of external sovereignty and protect the state from outside aggression either from state or non-state actors. The inside sovereignty and to maintain law and order situation has to be guarded by other institutions as stipulated by the constitution or other legal documents.

All military Generals connected to any coup, should be put in prison. Army should go back to the barracks and NOT meddle in politics, should do their job of guarding the countries borders .

I can find no such reference - if someone really said this, he was a very poor general - like Indian generals are, always. Rather, it's the other way round - Rule #1: Generals are always right. If they're wrong, refer to Rule #1
