Aww, that would have been too epic. Especially if he started off like all sons, fighting for his father's approval, but being a bastard son, and it being Shao Kahn, Reiko gets shot down, talked down to and banished by Kahn (because being his son he wouldn't out right kill him). But by the end of the game with Kahn being positioned center stage to successfully take over earth realm, despite all Raiden and his team has done to stop Khan, it ends up being Reiko (who at some point in the story as fate would have it, is met with Liu Kang and company and they forge a reluctant alliance through a mutually shared goal to see Kahn stopped at all costs) who presents the Earthrealm defenders with something that would essentially be, "Kahn's Kryptonite". And thus allowing our heros to win the day, yet also subsequently sets up Reiko to finally have the chance to claim the now vacant throne of *Emperor Of OutWorld* for himself.

Didn't Mileena already exist in the original MK timeline, before the whole MK9 time travel business rebooted the series? I clearly remember her as a playable character in the earlier games before MK9.

Mortal kombat deception(original timeline related)We learn in Mortal kombat deception's konquest,which most of it takes place before Mortal kombat 1 ,mileena was a solder of kahn's military for years,and she even tried to conquer a city an outworld city in kahn's name. how could ed boon forget this detail about mileena?

@The Programmer of video games I don't think he forgot anything about Mileena, it's just that in MK9 it is shown that Kitana was not aware of Mileena until MK2, we get to see how they first meet and we also get to know that Shang Tsung created her for Shao Kahn, still, in the MKX comics we learn that she was not the original heir to the throne of Outworld, and instead it was Reiko, who was adopted by Shao Kahn.

Alright, he was betrayed by Havik and sacrificed into Shinnok's Amulet. Aside from his attempt to become ruler of Outworld terribly being sidelined by his desire to become the Blood God, what I said in my post isn't wrong. Although, I did notice that Shao Kahn "adopted" him and was made his heir.

It was planned by Tobias but he left Midway before the next game. With him being the main writer and artist everything got changed to what Boon wanted. Destroyed the series by making it up as they went along including changing characters backstories willy nilly.

Also there is no cannon. They keep changing it constantly to fit whatever story they want to put in for the new game.

You do know and realize that both Ed Boon and John Tobias created the whole franchise together, right? Ed Boon especially. The franchise as whole was Ed Boon's idea. John Tobias was Ed Boon's best friend who worked together with him on developing his series. This is Ed Boon's franchise. Ed Boon's idea. Did you even watch the Mortal Kombat 5 documentary videos of how the series was born?

A lot of book/novel authors had to not only come with the franchise but also all of the characters as well! So with that said, naturally, there's a lot to expect of a creator of a franchise. They have to have at least have written up all the main characters and their stories to have properly and appropriately earned the right to call themself the creator of the franchise. And Ed Boon is a smart man. Not to mention he has the respect of all his co-workers. So to earn the right of Mortal Kombat creator, he had to have at least been the mind behind Liu Kang and his story since Liu Kang is the primary focus main protagonist of the main story. Which must be the case since Ed Boon has been officially legalized as the creator Mortal Kombat altogether since the very first game. If you've watched the documentary stuff included in Mortal Kombat 5: Deadly Alliance's disc, you'd know for a fact that Ed Boon is legally the creator of Mortal Kombat. Which only way for him to be such is if he had at least have created it's main protagonist, Liu Kang. Seriously, I honestly don't know why people of today just don't understand how this stuff works anymore.

The weird thing is, while I believe the room must be in Netherrealm in the [non-canon] story for the design to make sense, I have a feeling the insignia was a mistake on the developers' part. Like they intended it to be Outworld but somehow messed up and made it Netherrealm. Still, it doesn't look like Kahn's throne room from Mortal Kombat Trilogy or Deadly Alliance, and it doesn't look like Quan Chi's throne room from Mythologies either. If Shinnok has a throne room, it could be that. The sky is kind of reddish too. It makes more sense for Reiko to take over Netherrealm anyway, since he has to fight final boss Shinnok first.

I speak spanish, so I read Reiko the same way a japanese person would read it, making me have no doubt about the announcer saying Ray-Ko. But now that I listened to it on another video, he doesn't sound THAT clear, so you may be on to something.
