Dr , hi. I have had pain in this area since age 12. 1976. You do the math. Haha. I went to podiatrist in the 90s who said I had 2 fractured sesamoids. They don’t constantly bother me unless I press on that area or wear bad shoes. The question is the pain from them floating in the tendon. ? Would the pain stop if I had them removed after I healed or is it arthritis kind of thing. I remember the exact moment I did it age 12 when I was running etc. thanks in advance

That’s a long time! The problem is that when the sesamoid heals, it’s larger than it was and therefore received more pressure. I would recommend removal as an absolute last resort. Instead, consider orthotics to manage the pressure on the sesamoids.
