Scarlet & Violet has already gifted us with some amazing sets but in this video I'm seriously questioning is Shrouded Fable will be the next Great one or one big BUST. This should come as no surprise but I do a ton of research and deep dives into Pokémon products before I do my videos and this ask of Is Shrouded Fable The Worst Specialty Set In A Loong Time is no different! We are going to talk about and look at singles from specialty sets like Scarlet & Violet 151, Paldean fates, Celebrations, Champions Path, Hidden Fates and all of the others going back to 2019. Great analysis comparing the top two hits of each set! Initially I was super bullish on this set, but I think the biggest part of it will be the Greninja + Kingdra promos with that absolute fire artwork. Contemplating whether to keep the case preorder of PC ETBs or pivot. Decisions, decisions...

Thanks my friend, I really worry about a set where the "chase" looks to be a trainer card. They just don't carry the value that they did a year or so ago. I am pumped for that Greninja card though.. that thing is gonna be FIRE!!

100% agree. Man, that Greninja ex promo card is so much better looking than any of the top 20 cards in the set, in my opinion. And it’s not even close!

Thank you for doing the video. Especially while you were away. Is there a reason why only the top two cards were pulled for pricing? I know these are typically smaller sets so it’s hard to go deep without the prices falling off the cliff. But from an investment standpoint, how deep should the card pool be to gauge the strength of the set?. Should we be looking more at percentage rather than Card quantity. (5% of set count). Because each set has different number of cards.

AWESOME question!!!! So for this video, since we were looking at so many sets in rapid fire, we just hit on the top 2 BUT we've done a ton of deep data dives in the past and believe it or not the best indicator so far for strength of a set has been what I called the "middle 16". So you take the top 20 cards and pull the top 2 and bottom 2 from it and calculate the average of those middle 16 cards then use it as a ratio vs the current BB price. The higher the % of the middle 16 vs the BB price the more aggressive price growth we have seen. Now I haven't done a fresh look like that in a long time but your question has me thinking we should do a fresh data dive to see if that premise still holds true!! Great question!!

Yeah I definitely agree that it's not looking like a great set to grab and hold. I maybe want like 3 cards from the set which is good cause I can send my money to other sets. Haha but that Greninja box is fricken beautiful. I also really love the artwork and I will have it as well. I'm not sure if you see that the blue spiral is actually Greninja's shiriken that's hes throwing. But anyways, I love that box and I can't wait for the Kingdra box either.

This is a players set but it’s difficult to see this set explode. I want the promos the most but I want the Cassiopeia as well. Maybe this is for the new gen kids that grow up on Paldea.

This set is definitely not going to do as well as others. The best cards (greninja you showed and the Kingdra promo) aren’t even in the set. They’re promos! Lol. It’s a sad set I think. I will be getting the houndoom and those two promos. That’s it for me.

Yes as a collector I preordered the Pokemon center ETBs but once I found out the Greninja card is a promo I canceled my order.

The set badly needs the special arts that were ripped out for the collection boxes. Greninja and Kingdra SIRs shoulda been kept in the set. Pkmn knew their collection boxes were not going to sell on strength of the set alone. so they put these front and center knowing full well it would boost preorder sales through the roof. But the set itself suffers quite a bit. Did we know what was in the Japanese set when preorders went up for those collection boxes ? or did pkmn pull a fast one and make sure those pre orders went up first before anyone knew what was in the set and all we saw were those promos? Crown Zenith was more than capable of handling the legendary bird Galarian gallery cards becoming tin promos. Might end up being good for short term sales but long term for set as a whole will suffer. Ofc pkmn are not concerned with long term secondary market growth

I agree it would have been a game changer if those promo cards were in the set. I'm pumped for that Japanese wood artwork and think those cards will be stunners!! I agree it's odd that they don't have any of those in the set itself. Maybe they are teasing for some in the future?

Basically if your like me mid 30’s and talking Pokemon were basically the boomers of Pokemon and we may not like many of the sets but the kids are loving it Twilight Masquerade is a good example it had mad hate prelaunch now it’s probably the best S&V sets

whats shrouded fable? you mean Stellar Crown? Twilight Masquerade is the set that is out and Stellar Crown is the one pmk is currently the set that is "new" and pmk is taking preorders for.

SV block 1 going into block 2 is THE STRONGEST showing of any era to date. They finally broke the cycle of feeding us garbage until mid block 2 and started off with a bang. The SV era has more cards above 5$, 10$ (probably more price increment marks too) this early in its life than any other era. This era will go down in history as one of the all time best, once the SM/SwSh alt art hype ends. I suspect they are limiting print runs/reprints now as well which will only add to its collectability. One day in the near future these sets are gonna skyrocket well beyond SwSh
