I don’t know how I’d feel if I’d already played Skyward Sword, but for me, it’s the only mainline Zelda game I missed, so yes, for me it’s worth it.

It’s my favorite Zelda game story-wise. And since I never played it before (just watched the whole gameplay lol) I’m totally buying it!!

I really love skyward sword. However, 60 bucks for a 10 year old game that has been "remastered", I don't really think it's worth it. But yeah it makes sense the price being that since all the ports from the wiiu and the mario 3d emulator were all 60 dollars and sold like crazy.

Honestly the motion controls are what made it fun in the original.

What I really noticed when I played this game back in 2011 was that the level design is really solid. They managed to create 3 separate scenario for the same layout and make it them feel very different from one another. While each area design doesn't feel too natural, I never found the more obstacle course design to be too bad. it's like you are playing through a dungeon but in the overworld.

In my opinion, Twilight Princess achieved the same affect as Skyward Sword in terms of wanting to save Zelda and Hyrule, as in TP, you spent an entire segment of the game getting to know the characters you were going to have to save, like the children. So when the main portion of the game started, you wanted to save them. I'm not dissing SS, I'm just saying that TP had the same pull. Also, idk if I'm going to buy the remake cuz $40 more just for a pixel upgrade and button controls is not entirely worth it to me if I can get the Wii version, as I never had much of a problem with the remotes

I'm excited for this "remake" but I do wish that Nintendo would do more to the game for example: make the graphics look better. After Breath of the Wild, Skyward Sword is my favorite Zelda. I even love the motion controls, as they follow the original Link's development over the game. In the beginning, you floundered around a bit and had trouble, but by the time you were fighting Demise, you were a master of timing, angles, parries..it was nice.

People thought the same about TP HD and turn out to be a great remaster. People need to chill out and see more about this remaster, because so far we don't know anything about the improvements and new features. If you think is expensive and not worth it, COOL! I’ve been playing Zelda games since the initial release of twilight princess, and personally I think skyward sword is a top 3 Zelda game. I’m so hyped to grind the remake.

I’m looking forward to playing this remake, on my original playthrough I never made it past the sand ship cause I didn’t like the motion controls, but with the new joystick control that shouldn’t be an issue.

I'll say I'm still on the fence. When Skyward Sword was new, 10 years ago, I bought it immediately, but then a friend of mine wanted me to come over and watch him play it, so I did. What I saw...did not impress me. The sky half ofcthe game was boring, with a sky even more empty than Wind Waker's Great Sea, and a land area that was so small, compared to other titles overworlds. I got to see one of the coolest areas; the Sand Ship, with its time stones, and the robots were neat, but the end boss was awful, and I really did make the Monster's Inc. joke, before it was cool. I hated the motion controls, just from watching it played, and the shield break mechanic, when Link had always been Sword and Board. Tumbleweeds were so important, and yet so hard to get. Your Epona flew, but could only be used above clouds, where there seemed so little to do. Your one shield 🛡 that rendered others unnecessary was harder to get than just beating Akuma, and then they established this new enemy as the original bad guy; Ganon has been nothing more than a lesser reiteration of Demise. When I got home, I didn't want to play it, and it STILL sits on a shelf, in the plastic, to this day. It's sad, because Zelda has always been my favorite games title, even when it was just the two original gold carts on NES, and barely a "series". I think there is a lot of good potential in it, and I'd like to like it. If they can get past the motion controls gimmick, then maybe I can get past my own other perceived shortcomings. I thought it looked worse than Twilight Princess, which I already really liked, and that game already had some weird facial problems. So, I've made a decision. Even though I've already paid full price for SS, and it sat on a shelf for a decade, still mint in box, I'll be willing to do that again, since Nintendo feels like charging for this remake, and all it will hinge on is...that stupid Amiibo. I bought most of the Zelda amiibo for BotW, and while I HATE their artificial rarity, here in the States, if I can get a Zelda Loftwing amiibo in store, or maybe online before the criminal price hike, I'll get SS HD, and give it a shot. If the usual amiibo problems happen...I won't buy this game, since they aren't bundling it, like Wolf Link in TP HD. That's my plan; all or nothing. Thanks for doing the video. Since BotW 2, and the possible Switch Pro, are being so obscure, and possibly waiting till next year, even though Nintendo could really score points now, with new XBOX and PS5 shortages, it would be nice to have something "new Zelda" to play, even though it isn't strictly new; it'll be new enough for me. I just need to actually find that amiibo on a store shelf.

I really enjoyed this game. Super fun temples, arguably had the best temple of the entire series, the Ancient Cistern. Fun side quests, and upgrading your weapons/tools was fun.

Skyward Sword is a good game with more emphasis on Zelda & Link's relationship which was really cute in this game. The game really could've used more worlds and exploration. 4 areas really wasn't enough but it's a good game but a bit weak for a 3D Zelda game. Still a good game but the standard for 3D Zelda games is really, really high

Got it for $20 earlier this year for the first time on my Wii U...

I pre-ordered my copy a couple of months ago and I'm excited for it. I have it on the Wii but I couldn't really get into it because of the motion controls as I'm so used to playing with all the with button controls so that's a relief. With all that being said as a streamer I have been waiting for this to come so I can actually do an entire series according to timeline starting with this game.

I'm one of the few people that loved the motion controls, I never had a sync problem and it really got me in the game. The story in this game is one that I feel really drives the player forward, unlike so many games where going off and practically forgetting the story for a while is normal skyward sword made me want to push onward.

I remember when the game first came out. Of course I had to get the HD version 😅. The soundtrack is amazing. Can't wait for the nostalgia to hit

Skyward Sword was one of my first Zelda games. I was able to work with the motion controls. I'm not bothered by the graphics. I've played it multiple times. I love the game. So my question is: Should I pay $60 dollars for a game I already have? My desire for SSHD is stronger than when it was first announced, but it has just put me on the fence. I don't know if the button controls and better graphics are worth it. I'm not even considering the amiibo as a factor. Maybe Nintendo will show something new about it on the 15th at either E3 or the Tree House.

3:07 Personally, I liked that it was mostly linear. I find that, with games like Twilight Princess or Breath of the Wild, I felt overwhelmed because there was so much to get done and so much to see, ESPECIALLY if you're trying to 100% the game. With Skyward Sword, however, you don't feel overwhelmed because you know where the stuff is, and how to get it. If that sounds a little bit lame to you somehow, just try and imagine little stories or scenarios in your head when doing those things or grabbing those items. Overall, I can't wait to play the game!

Actually, I think the first 50 seconds was a perfect video 😂 I've had Skyward Sword HD pre-ordered since the moment it came available. I get the fan complaints, and yeah they're totally valid and "I'm part of the problem" but I loved Skyward Sword and was legitimately really sad when my Wii U died and I couldn't play it anymore. I'm very excited to play it again.

I think that a lot of people see the linearity as a flaw but I think that’s what it does best and because it’s so linear it can tell the story much better than a game that many people consider to be a better Zelda game: Breath of the Wild.

This is also my favorite Zelda soundtrack. I just love it.

Great video and analysis. With all due respect, as a verified channel, I have a feeling you knowingly avoided to mention 2 very negative aspects that people complain about too, maybe not as much as they did with the motion controller as you say but still: The CONSTANT Fi interrupting and hand-holding (which just wasn't always required, at least not in the amount the game did) and also the frequent notifications for items you already collected like 100 times before, as if they were new to you, every time you played again, which annoyed many. I personally loved the game and learned to eventually not mind those issues as much anymore, I'm a bit conflicted if I'd get it or not since I do have the Wii one already and got the HDMI adapter just for it not too long ago. I'll probably get it in the case they did fix those 2 things and maybe add a little bit more to the game's world, which they haven't shown yet.

I really hope they fix the Loftwing. It's a cool concept, but it was really slow and the controls were really clunky.

I'm pretty mixed on Skyward sword HD. Unlike a lot of people, I really did not mind the motion controls. They were frustrating at times, but overall I loved the concept. It was the excessive padding, lack of creativity in the exploration and worlds (except for Lanayru desert), Fi's constant interjections, and the constant hand-holding that drags down this otherwise beautiful-looking game (best music out of 3D Zelda titles IMO). I think remasters/remakes are a good opportunity to fix the flaws that the original version has by adding QOL changes, such as the fast sail in WWHD or the wolf link toggle in TP. It is also nice to add bonus features in the game as well as typical visual improvements. So far, I'm glad Nintendo addressed the motion controls but that wasn't the main issue. I'm also not of fan of the whole amibo controversy with this game. Overall, I'd recommend this to someone who has never played SS or just getting into the Zelda series, but so far, besides making the graphics crisper and fixing controls I do not see the justification in paying $60. I personally think 3D All-stars was a better deal

You know what would have made it worth it? If they made Zelda's part of the story playable as Zelda. That would have been a fairly easy add-on that would not affect the lore and everyone would have loved it.

HD remake comes out on my Birthday. My first ever experience of this game was your original playthrough all those years back. I have never played the game for myself. Part of me believes this game releasing the day of my birthday is a sign. So I preordered it as soon as I could.

I lost my original wii copy and the wii u is heavily outdated im getting the HD Remake for my birthday.

I was planning on getting it regardless, this will be my first playthrough of it and I don't mind the JRPG style of this game. Sometimes you need a game like that to break away from all of the open world games that are out there

I have always been a big fan of Skyward Sword, it's felt so underrated for so long and it truly doesn't deserve it. The motion controls weren't great, but weren't as bad as they've been made out to be. The story is more linear than the rest of the 3D Zeldas. But the story is great, the music is among, if not the best in the series. The dungeons are so well done and the new HD version looks beautiful and seems to fix the major issues this game had, and with that I'm so excited

As bad as the motion controls were when they didnt want to cooperate, when they were cooperative, it feels almost a bit too intuitive to replace without loosing some degree of fluidity.

I want to say Skyward Sword HD is worth getting it because we can play the game on the button and not only that, Nintendo just make the story really awesome

To me it does not matter if a console is outdated or is lacking technology what matters is, is it a fun console? Nintendo always focus on having fun rather then being the best powerful machine. I mean if you look at PS or XBOX all they really do is focus on hardware improvements I mean I don't even see anyone talk about PS5 or XBOX Series X their irrelevant now because the Nintendo Switch was a unique console unlike the other two and IT WAS FUN to me that is what matters.

I will definitely be picking up the remaster at some point. I'm a fairly recent Zelda fan, finshed BotW last year and decided to play through every other game i'd missed and I actually really enjoyed Skyward Sword, even the motion controls, yeah they were gimmicky and they could be a bit wonky but they made the fights with other swordsmen (Ghirahim in particular) feel so cool and unique. Skyward Sword was a fun experience and I am really hoping this remaster will allow more people to see that.

I feel the sound track, art direction, and story concept for skyward sword are all at least on par with the rest of the zelda series if not better. The problem with the game is that gameplay for most (myself included) has to be the number 1 thing that they get right when making any sort of game. Skyward Sword's gameplay was just not fun enough to keep me engaged and the story, while pretty good, could not make up for that.

I played this game when I was a child. Getting to swing my sword around and slaying monsters honestly made me feel like *I* was the hero. It honestly made me feel so cool and happy getting to beat enemies with my sword because again, *I* was link. I love the linearity because it holds its story together really well. It doesn’t really overstay it’s welcome. It made me WANT to beat it over and over. Can’t wait to receive it when it releases!!

I have always been a huge fan of the JRPG style of games. Games that focus on story rather than game play. Its what keeps me hooked in the games I play. Its what has made Skyward Sword my favorite Zelda game of all time regardless of the problems with the motion controls. Yes even above BOTW and TP. The fact that Link isn't just some expressionless hero in this game is amazing he has points where you actually get to choose what to say, points where he gets mad, sad, happy, confused, ect. He actually has a true personality in this game unlike in the other Zelda games. Honestly the characters feel like real characters not paper cut outs. This is the game that in my opinion voice actors could have been used and not have been seen as just a gimic because they all have grate personalities that all really stand out. Even if I'm in the vast minority Zelda Skyward Sword is my favorite Zelda game and I cant wait to play it in HD.

I haven’t yet played Skyward Sword, but I take issue with the pricing and the timing. The game released 10 years ago on the Wii, to pretty lukewarm reception, and is now being sold for $60. The same price BOTW sold for. Additionally, the game was already released in honor with the 25th Anniversary, and so far it’s the biggest thing we’ve gotten for the 35th. Not a good look.

I had it, but no Wii controls for my WiiU. A friend borrowed it so he could play it at his house and allowed me to play it there. I couldn't do any of the side quests or heart pieces while he had it. So I'm looking forward to having it on Switch so I can play when I want for how long. I don't need to wait on anyone to let me play.

I have played every mainline Legend of Zelda game and I can honestly say my favourite ever dungeon was the pirate ship in Skyward Sword. The puzzle element was outstanding, really made you think without being impossible. From the rest of the game, some of the storyline was a bit cringe, and the quest to collect all the musical notes in the forest SUCKED, but in general kudos to the level designers, I loved battling my way through it.

I really appreciate the challenge this game presents with its puzzles and combat style. While playing botw I hardly felt challenged everything was oversimplified whereas skyward sword was the opposite of it

tbh, the only issue I had with the game was the item pickup system, mainly how every time you get back on the game, upon picking up an item you've picked up before in a previous session Link would do the animation of picking it up the first time. I always found that very annoying.
