Sonic Superstars is a 2023 platform game developed by Arzest and Sonic Team and published by Sega. It features side-scrolling gameplay similar to the Sonic the Hedgehog games released for the Sega Genesis in the 1990s.

you ever think about doing a debunking the difficulty on Sonic Spinball? I only recently learned the objectives to beating the game, and it's still terribly hard, but would make a really good episode imo.

Gotta say, this game is gorgeous and colorful! Reminiscent of Sonic 2, which by far is my favorite soundtrack out the entire series. This Superstar game has a great trackless for a good chunk of their stages - im gonna get me the soundtrack!

Errant Signal said it best when he said Sonic isn’t about pure speed as much as it’s about managing momentum and inertia mixed with exploration. It’s not just “go fast” it’s “manage how fast you’re going so you don’t crash and get back up to speed when you do crash

The game does look nice, but I mean, DK Tropical Freeze looked even nicer and didn't have lag issues and so on. I don't think the issue is the Switch lacking power, I think the game is likely very poorly optimized, which is kinda to be expected from sonic team, sadly.

Got this on PS5 and it ran very smooth with the exception of the load screen, that was always glitchy. Also the graphics are much better too.

This looks good on switch but it looks insane on PS5 they should’ve waited till next month for this game they got spider man 2 and Mario wonder Friday this game is dead before it had a chance you have 2 titans clashing Friday and it looks amazing I gotta pick it up still I wanted to today but I’m playing assassins creed atm plus I got the big 2 Friday

They also like to put the rings behind walls. There was a spot that had three rings leading into the wall. You kept going tho. It was before using knuckles

As soon as you the song reminded you of a JRPG (around 50-55 minute mark) in the bonus world, all I could think of was Shining in the Darkness on Sega Genesis. When do we get a full play through of Shining in the Darkness!? :D

If you use the right stickyou notonly select fasterbut the menu dissapears assoon as you let go ofthe right stick Also not sure if other robots do that at the cybercity bosses, but the appearance that you customized your multiplayer robot to apparently effects the ampearance the boss has

About the performance on switch, i have the earliest released type of model of the OG switch & for me whi,e there are some frame rate issues in the loading screen, both in base form & super form i never had frame rate issues in the actual stages

In my opinion emerald hill zone from sonic 2 is one of the best genesis 1st stages. Only outshined by New Junk City from Earthworm Jim 1.

Game looks slower, more sluggish and tedious than I expected even from the mildly critical IGN and GameSpot reviews, but at least "pukebag zone" is back and (unironically) confirmed as the best part of the game (and a calming distraction).

Tails, knuckles & amy don't actually turn super, amy has a super form since origins plus which was DLC so i can see why that isn't included & super tails was since S3&K butthat was with the super emerald, the first time with the chaos emeralds was in mania & origins sonic 3 & knuckles (no cheats in sonic 1 & 2i cluded) so it's pretty much only 2 (not incuding rereleases for tails) so i'm not sure how i feel about But knuckles always had a super form so that's just quite an oversight, also the only characters who actually turn super are sonic & trip & trip is the only 1 who's moveset changes when turning super

Sadly the twitch version looks pretty horrible in comparison to the other versions. The resolution is turned down, shine effects look like graphical glitches, and I think it goes without saying that there clearly is input lag/response issues. All in all though, I agree that it really isn't worth a 60 dollar price tag given how short it is. Older sonic games usually took longer than this.

I beat both games to 100% and honestly this game is so much better than Mario Wonder. Mario Wonder feels like its demographic is 3 - 10 year olds and this game feels like the demographic is 8 to 18 when you consider end game difficulty

Ryu, while it is nice to see you play other games once in a while, there are times the games you choose make me glad I don't have a switch for. This game looks so bad on the switch in comparison to other platforms, and it is pretty clear you are having some obvious input lag and response issues. Seen you play too much Mario to know that your response time on games like this is far better than it was on this one.

@@R_wir3 Plenty of 2D platformers look better, including in this very series. The art direction here feels like a cross between Sonic 4 and NSMB, just the absolute blandest take possible. Not that it's terribly surprising coming from Arzest.

No sonic game has ever been truly good. It's a bad concept and should have gone the way of 100 other weird mascots from the early days of video games. I honestly believe Sega just did the greatest marketing campaign of all time and nostalgia colors everyone's vision

This game has the look of the classic..but no explore, no chaos emeralds..no secrets. Like...am i missing something? Just run right? Wonder has the same problem. Just easy mode for kids and inept adults. Wish they would add secrets in levels that require real skill and reward you with interesting mechanics.
