As much as I hate it, being labelled a 'probable carcinogen' means roughly nothing. Coffee is one too.

Nearly everything you eat or interact with has a slight risk of being carcinogenic, even out in nature red meat and many plants have carcinogenic effects

Not exactly the same thing.... Benzene for example is, so far as I'm aware, the most carcinogenic chemical known to man. Some light can cause cancer by ionizing an election of a water molecule in your body where the negative election is passed to a molecule of DNA and disrupts the bond ❤ 💔 DoW was under fire in the 80s for giving something like 90% of their employees brain cancer. DuPont killed around 400,000 people all downriver from their Teflon plant. That teflon molecule is now banned... So they altered one atom and now it's made by a shell company called Genx, and they're back to mass murder. To find human blood without Teflon in it, you need to go back to the supply from the Korean war. It's in your body, and you will be buried with it, where it will stay "forever." It's in all of us. Suppose it's not a forever chemical though and it begins to break down, creating a molecule that causes instant death? Or worse... A very slow one... These greedy companies need to stop. Money is never more important than people. You probably know someone *murdered* by one of these companies... Berry plastics: "Don't worry Sandra, breathing plastic smoke is good for your unborn baby. We don't want to spend money to fix the ventilation. Get back to work if you want to keep this nice $10 per hour Job." Not exactly actuate but pretty much what happened, Lawrence Kansas Berry plastics plant 2009. Her kid was premature. They aren't liable though, they kept her away from the radioactive parts. (They use radiation to measure the thickness of plastic sheet before thermaforming it into Starbucks cups... Or taco bell... BK... Quick Trip... Etc) Anyway my point is that these companies are *evil monsters* and they are very willing to kill millions of people for money. They will kill you, your mom, your dad, your kids and your lover for a few points of stock. Knowing this, what is the correct course of action?

Anything can be potentially dangerous. As long as you use it and despose of it properly, then its no big deal. The biggest deal is where that waste ends up and how the government chooses to deal with it. That has way more of a dangerous effect on the things around it than just using the styrofoam for everyday tasks.

None of the triangles are safe. The safest ones are HDPE and LDPE, but only for so long, and only if certain precautions are used. None of them are as safe as glass, ceramic, and rubber, which is also readily available, and to some extent, wood and metal too. Just throw all your plastic away and replace them with glass as soon as you can, and encourage others to do the same when possible.

@@Queer_Nerd_For_Human_Justice Apples cause cancer. So does your smartphone, bed sheets, wooden dresser/nightstand, etc. Everything is a "carcinogen" because nothing is harmless. Everything has an effect on our bodies. In the case of things like x-rays, we already knew they weren't good for us, which is why we always limited the amount of x-ray exposure we experienced. Just wait until you find out that your smoke detectors contain radioactive Americium. In these cases, we've collectively agreed as a society that the very small (if even proven) effects it can have on us are well worth the risk for the amount we gain from it. If you truly want to minimize your chances, go join the amish. They're about as natural as you can get. If you still want your technology and modern comforts, you have to be willing to make a compromise. Nobody is saying you have to use this stuff.
