Whenever they start a conversation with “I believe” I decide the conversation is over. The discussion will become about feelings towards what’s being debated and believing what you want cause it helps you sleep at night…

His argument is the definition of “I know successful black people so therefore all these problems don’t exist” he also tokenizes the LGBT community, he doesn’t view these people as real human beings

The problem with that dude is the idea he has that if there are black people succeeding that fact in and of itself means there’s nothing holding black people back in mass. (But I’m sure he’d be the type that would say that if no black people were succeeding that would just mean that black people are lazy do nothings). He’s thinking of black people as a monolithic figure, which has its own racist implications, and doesn’t recognize the intersectionality of being disenfranchised/oppressed due to race AND class.

I'm so sick of 📨 people telling us that we're "doing better" just because they saw one of us doing well.

He proved his entitlement when he asked if he could hang up and call right back even though he knew other people needed their turns to be heard.

Even if he works for the federal government, he spoke about work related changes. Just because you're not allowed to be racist while working for the federal government, doesn't mean the government itself isn't racist.

I think overall the guy is a good guy. Being black, myself, there are a lot of well-intentioned ppl who just look at life through a lens of what they’ve actually seen and what they know. It’s hard to sometimes see the effects of racism in my opinion if you’re white, when ppl aren’t outwardly racist towards you. You won’t realize as many ppl are racist or systems being racist when you’re white cause white ppl aren’t going to be outwardly racist towards you. So you need statistics and examples that are bigger than what you know to realize that fact. Just like that guy said, his eyes were opened in a few ways, which is good. We just need more of that. I thought Javon was kind of snide at the end not pointing to that fact. But, glad he’s so knowledgeable to break down rational, obvious facts that teach ppl. First time watching his content. Picked it up from tik tok an hour ago , wanted to watch the full convo. 10/10

These successful black people he knows- does he know how much they are paid compared to their counterparts or how they are being shorted in other ways? Their interest rates on their mortgages or what they had to do to get the initial loan? I bet he doesn’t.

I haven't watched the whole video, I'm just at the beginning, but one thing that I love about Bradley's debates is that it aims to be informative! He's not trying to insult someone who has a different opinion or who isn't informed on these matters: he gives people data and studies as a way to hopefully change their minds but he never tries to belittle them unless they do it first or completely refuse to change their minds! I honestly find that admirable 💪

This dudes' entire argument literally just came down to; "Yeah but like, things are cool now and they weren't before so can't we like--just get along, man? Like good vibes. Bad people suck bro so let's just be cool and be good now." How a person can say so much of nothing is baffling to me, he's like a bad Seinfeld episode. Truly the definition of the slow poison of gradualism.

Just because some yt people grow up poor, does not mean that the majority of yt people don't start out better, are more likely to get a good paying job, and qualify for loans for housing and business. Its still not great. Unions are helping workers, but so much family wealth is not a thing. Poor yts have it rough, but being angry at your poor neighbor or some poor refugee isn't going to reduce inequality from rich to poor. Working with the poor neighbor and the poor refugee, and the unions pool resources and pull power from the wealthy.

Yte "debater" is misguided and was probably taught that doing one good deed covers you in glory and doesn't need constant work. His whole argument is; we've done enough! We don't need to do anymore. He agrees with everything and throws in his almighty "BUT" after every time. Keep up the great work, Jovan

Love that he references the UK as an example of good examples of police officers when the percentages of black men dying in police custody is higher than the US and they don't have guns. Think about that... How do you think they are killing them.... He's a great example of feelings over facts
