Cecilia "light skin black guy" to me it sounded like she was hinting at the fact that he spoke well (lightskin) but still had a typical hood feel to his voice (black) haha which makes no sense because she was pretty much meaning lightskins speak better anyway because they're mixed with white, but he's also still sounds black, so might as well say 'light skin black guy' . I don't know if I explained that correctly but to me that's how it came off. and second because it's just cringe how she said 'light skin black guy' insinuating that light skin black guys have an exclusive/specific way to speak, how does somebody sound like a light skin black guy ?? haha

it's not a racial difference... it's a cultural difference. If you were raised in a certain neighborhood you'll speak that way regardless of race.

"Talking white" is only a thing in the US, because other countries' main cultural and linguistic differences aren't drawn along racial lines. The fact that you have race-based dialects in the US is pretty unusual.

That’s so true because in England dialects differ because of where you live or your socio-economic background. You can’t tell someone’s race from their voice.

it came from slavery. people didn’t like them because they talked differently. as society went on they were put into bad neighborhoods and more stigma was created with the slang they used. it’s now so craved into our society today that it’s normal for americans. it’s really sad.

Latinx features are normally mixed with the indigenous natives of the land - central, south america and the islands. Since it's so common to be half white and half ( or a little more) native blood, this is the usual look for latin people in media- so we're more represented by the culture we carry. That being said, i only know a handful of latin actors and even less asian. I definitely agree with the OP

Bill Adams What the hell?! Why do you need bring race in this? That guy IS hot. And I don't understand how a girl just stating that she finds a guy attractive makes her "thirsty" and with no standards. For real? Also, What does that have do to with being black, or white or asian or whatever? Absolutely nothing! If you want to be racist, at least bring some arguments that can ~argueably~ make sense to some extent, don't be so dumb.

The color of your skin does not affect the tone of your voice. Your upbringing does. A black person most likely grew up in a black family who spoke with a tone and grammar diffrent than a white family or other races. The guy who looked mixed most likely grew up in a family with a black and a non black parent.
@TheBoxingNinja
@TheBoxingNinja 8 жыл бұрын
I think a voice can tell a lot about the color of someone's skin, even how light they are. Even light whites sound different than tan whites. The color of your skin and the tone of your voice come from your genes, so it would make sense to be able to determent one with the other.
@TheBoxingNinja
@TheBoxingNinja 8 жыл бұрын
***** It would be harder compared to finding the different between light black people and dark black people, but would be possible. I think I could get quite a few people to agree with me that light black and dark black is something you can tell with a person's voice. It's not the most accurate, but it does work.

You don't get it. The racial/biological part is only responsible for the pitch and depth of voice. The tone and the STYLE of talking is a cultural thing. Blacks in the US have not been assimilated into the main culture and have their own post-African post-slavery (non-educated) culture, therefore they speak in their own way. It might be totally different in a country like UK or France where blacks might be better educated and better assimilated with whites.
