We went to Dallas, Texas to find out if Texas barbeque was the best. We had bbq brisket, bbq beef ribs, and bbq pork ribs. All of the food was amazing.

Terry Black's is part of the Black's Barbecue dynasty from Lockhart (my fave in the state), and Terry's original place is in Austin. Sonny Bryan's in Dallas on Inwood Road is the oldest Cue Joint in DFW. Their warmed BBQ Sauce is served in 6-1/2 oz glass Dr. Pepper Bottles and their's are some of the best Pintos ever.

What abt pork bbq for rib lovers?
@johnmaynard3463
@johnmaynard3463 2 ай бұрын
@MajesticWaffle I know I'm late, but Texas is famous for salt, pepper, and a lot of smoke flavor. That's why the beef is amazing. Lots of people like their pork ribs to be sauced while cooking, which carmalizes. It depends on the location if that's available or not. same with pulled pork. it usually doesn't come sauced. I prefer space on the side anyways, so I can control how much sauce their is.

Seems that is located at 3025 Main st... There was a company there that sold enging parts to machine shops and parts hjouses.. The name of it was John D. Harvey Co. .. I worked there for over 15 years. The company had to move because the owners wanted to make more money with all of the "Deep Ellum" bars and such. There are at least 4 other places that had the same happen to them.

That's a good idea, but be careful. If a place smothers the meat in bbq sauce, that's a danger sign. Ask for sauce on the side, or in a bottle. Sometimes you'll like one meat ok, and love the others. ie. They might have dried-out brisket, but they have tender delicious chicken, turkey, or ham, or banging pork sausages. Also try the novelty sides like the bbq bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers, deviled egg potato salad, etc. Also, be careful on those beef ribs, you'll get so full, you'll have to get "to-go boxes" for everything else.

I worked at a BBQ spot in Louisiana and showing up early meant being theres 2-3 hours before doors opened just to have a spot in line that was inside. Its also first come first serve so if theres no tables open when you get food you had to suck it up and eat in the car so they could move their line. I hated working there and i only stayed so long for my free meals😂

Texas is best if you want beef. Brisket and beef ribs for sure. But when you go other places, try the local stuff. Some Carolina pulled pork with either the South Carolina mustard sauce or the North Carolina vinegar sauce. Each a unique flavor. California has Tri Tip. Hawaii has Kalua pig. Barbacoa and Carnitas from Mexico. And that's just BBQ. We haven't gotten into soul food or the wife range of game meats. Venison from the northern states is so so good.

Me and my wife moved to New Zealand about 15 years ago and we were surprised to see an american bbq joint there in a small town just outside of Auckland called the blue ox. We are big fans of franklins and by no means is that place cheap, you're looking to speend a few hundred dollars at franks. Here in nz, we got 2 pounds of smoked meats for just over $100 and it was absolutely fantastic. The brisket was the classic texas salt and pepper crunch and it was juicy as any texan bbq I ever had. So if you think you're paying too much for bbq. You probably are.

Just a word of advice for those who go to the terry black’s in Austin is that because it’s so busy, they have 3(?) carving tables of meat, and sometimes you don’t get to choose which one you go to and which table has the fresher piece. My friend and I ordered and got split off into two different tables, where I had the juicier, falll of the bone cut and he had this bone DRY cut. Like chewing rubber. Very unfortunate for him. So be careful which table you go to, if you got the luxury of choice.
