The Maxima will not be forgotten in Nissan history ❤

It's sad both the Stinger and Maxima are now being discontinued in 2023. I wish they did more with them for a proper send off they were great sedans.

If only they would make it AWD and without the CVT

I remember when the Maxima revolutionized the car industry. It single-handedly made sedans cool again.

I remember in the 90s seeing Maximas everywhere you turned. Sad to see it go out like this.

I worked at a Nissan dealership when this generation came out in late 2015 we got a platinum with the diamond stitched leather. When I was driving it back from the compound I remember thinking to myself that the car looked and felt extremely futuristic.

I bought a new 22' Maxima SV back on July 18th 2022. I absolutely love the car! The cvt matches up well with the V6. I don't get what he's talking about being connected. I can feel what the car is doing no problem & is a blast to drive hard when you want a little bit of fun.

The g70 and Stinger outclass the Maxima in every way!

I was shocked and disappointed when I heard their getting rid of the Maxima but heard it might come back in a couple years but in a full electric vehicle. This is one nice maxima top of the line and the way the blue metallic shines. Great job on another video!!!

The Maxima since 2009 has grown in aerodynamics and styling. The interior is really neat and formal but the greatest downfall the zonk of all zonks is the CVT. An iconic car 40 years in the making named Motor Trend's Car of the Year for 1995 the VQ30DE engine named to one of Wards 10 Best Engines such a shame to disappoint over the last several years in terms of quality. I love the Deep Blue Pearl and the updated exterior lighting!

You know we are in trouble when a maxima costs $46k, I’m so confused. I guess Nissan wants you to “step up” to the Infiniti to get a torque converter 😂. Thanks for the review Joe.

My 2016 maxima is literally identical to that car. The only difference is the headlights bumpers and tail lights and newer software on the navigation but other than that, I have the exact same features that car has and I got it for $18,000 one year ago she has 152,000 miles on it and she still going hard

This is my second Maxima. I love them. I love the styling, the power and the trim. Like everyone else, I dont like the CVT, but I'm used to it

Sad to see the Maxima go. The first car I ever had was a 1988 Nissan Maxima inherited from my parents. It was such a fun car to drive and the tech (for 1988) was amazing.

Humor filled revue of the old Max. My first Max was a '93 and have leased one every cycle. I bought my '19 Max SL lease because I could not find anything to satisfy me. You tell it like it is and I know the Max. I have bought and leased 20 Nissan cars and never had a problem with those that have CVTs. I do have basic insurance on the Max and my wife's '20 Versa. Keep up your good work.

Love my blacked out 21 Maxima SR. I've gotten more complements of that car pulling up in lots or stop lights then any other car I've had before.

Going to be honest, if I was paying $46,000 for a car there is no way in hell I’m buying a Maxima over a Genesis or Stinger GT lol

Despite the CVT it is an historically great car that looks sweet. I hope they don’t discontinue it. It seems like the future will only consist of soulless electric CUVs.

Was a big fan of the Maxima. I had 4 a 96, 03, 09, and 11, then I moved to Genesis, but I will always hold a spot in my heart for Maxima. Damn infiniti not wanting nissan to put RWD on the max, or it was Nissan not wanting Maxima to steal infiniti sales with RWD or something like that, but it played a part.

Great review. It's sad to see the Maxima go away. I remember back in 1991, my dad test drove the Maxima. I thought it was the best car around. It was sporty, had a super nice exterior and interior design, and the build quality was great. I think that's the last good model before Nissan went downhill. He ended up getting a Buick Regal BTW.

For an maxima they most definitely stepped up their design but I’ll still stick with the stinger🤣

The Platinum is a more plush version. If you want better performance you get the SR . Better tuned suspension, better steering response, better CVT response, and paddle shifters. Sport mode actually makes a significant difference in these cars as well. Heck even the S model I had seemed to have better CVT response than what I just saw in this video, it also had paddle shifters, though I really only used them for engine braking. Hammer down and you can't even tell it's a CVT. Tight and very quick to respond to speed changes, doesn't feel like you're being pulled by a rubber band. Was a great car, rode smooth and passed on the highway with ease. When I sold it I had to drive 6 hours away and ended up playing with a Durango SRT half the way up there, was a fun final goodbye road-trip with it. Fun fact, the design for these were inspired by the Blue Angel's F/A 18 fighter jets. Nissan actually flew some designers down to check them out in person and take notes.

That Nissan will never compare to a Genesis G70 or a KIA Stinger😂 Still love your reviews though. Merry Christmas everyone🙏

This generation came out in 2015 as 2016 models. I got one SV for myself and later I got SL 2017 model. What an amazing car it was! It was pretty good on gas as well. Now it shows its age. Very sad that Nissan is killing it. Enjoyed your review. Thanks.

Hey Joe, great video!! must not forget the 1st gen Nissan Maxima was a rear wheel drive and available with a manual transmission. I have a question, would Nissan ever admit that CVT transmissions are destroying their product line. I have rented Nissan Maximas in the past trying to make a connection, but that CVT transmission is what stops me from buying the Maxima.

love how in the Maxima they keep that old school looking center stack, the infotainment, AC etc.. back in the day it would of been FM/CD or cassette of course.. sweet ride! looks like Maus has one in Pearl white/blk top as well, i'd be all over that one!

Had a 94 that i use to get up to 120 mph in. Fun car. Sad to see what Nissan and Infinity have become. 370 was my final Nissan product and a good way to say good buy

Maybe I’m old school but glad to see a car that still places the infotainment screen in the center of the dash.

I rented a maxima like 2 years ago and I’ll admit they’re pretty quick once it’s rolling I think it might be quicker than my 2018 Camry xse v6. The cvt wasn’t really an issue for me I just think it was time for a new body style maxima and maybe awd because it is a full size sedan.

The awd stinger GT is also sadly being killed off this year.... Nissan has made alot of progress but at a much slower pace than Kia.... and despite the history the Stinger is just so much more of a car for the money . Obviously haven't driven one of these but the CVT already gives it a major zonk Joe. Thanks for the comprehensive review sir

I love how the infotainment system is built directly into the dash. No tacky "stuck-up iPad" screen like most other new vehicles. Great car, sad to see it being the final year. I'd choose this over the Stinger because of the better gas mileage.

My 2022 singer gt was also 46k... Except I have 70 more hp and 100 more pound feet of torque. Nice car but at that price point seems a bit outclassed.

I still got my 2010 maxima and I love it!! Looking to upgrade soon

the maxima has to be the biggest let down for years, literally all they ever had to do was drop the cvt or make 1 trim without the cvt and it would have sold much better over the years

I had this model for 5 years or so. Biggest draw outdated infotainment system, tight rear seat, no all wheel drive option . Power train is smooth, surprisingly good fuel efficiency .

I remember this gen blowing me away because my family had a 2014 and then a 2017. It was an amazing sedan. Imo this generation has become timeless and it sucks that Nissan kinda deprived it of a proper drivetrain that fits that engine or interior update.

Fun fact since we're on the subject of emblems. The 2021 Kia K5 will be the only model with the old Kia badge, but I think that's also the case with the first model year Telluride & Sorrento. I will definitely miss the Maxima though, I had a '95 Nismo Edition back in 2008.

Just took our 2016 Maxima from Florida to Pennsylvania, it's not a perfect car but it's pretty smooth and comfortable on the highway, the interior is nicely trimmed for a long trip. It's really wierd that Nissan markets this car as a sports car with FWD and a CVT, it's more of a premium luxury car like the Avalon. It's fairly quick but the engine Sounds rather weak. It almost sounds like a loud EV motor.

The car already looks awesome. I like the front face area but also I don’t why I feel like it could of been done better.

My first car was the very first Maxima a 1981 model (aka Datsun 810 Maxima), which my grandparents gave me. From 81 -84 the Maxima was rear wheel drive and shared the 2.4 liter inline six found in the 240Z and offered manual and automatic. Wish they would’ve stuck with the rear drive platform through the years. Always been one of my favorite cars, but the CVT keeps me from getting one.

I use to love Maximas. I had a 2007 and a 2011. When I found out they were keeping the CVT and front wheel drive I had to move on. The 2007 was my favorite. Still a nice looking car.

More power in the KIA and G70, along with a lot better interior and exterior by a long shot in my opinion. No way it's "Better" at least to me hahah

The reason people think the Maxima is a midsize now, is because a couple years ago, Nissan made the Altima with slightly more room, kind of like what Chevy did with the Malibu, over the Impala. I'm guessing those decisions were made after they decided to get rid of the Maxima & Impala, but I could be wrong, it's just a guess.

I don’t get the knock on the cvt. Yeah, I know about the EXTREMELY old issues Nissan had with them. But I worked for a company that have a fleet of NV200s and we never had an issue. Our techs abused the crap out of them (myself included) and didn’t have one problem with the cvt. I bought a cvt Nissan for my daughter because I believe the issue was with people not following the maintenance schedule on trans drain-n-fill. If having a cvt is an issue, almost all manufacturers are using them.

Finally got a 2020 black SR 2 years ago. Was sad that they are killing it off. Hope to keep the car for a long time. My only zonk is FWD. I can’t help myself but to hit the gas but sometimes the wheels slip!

I've owned 5 sedans and my 97 Maxima was my all time fav...I prefer AWD compact SUV's now, and just bought a new one, but I just checked on the cost of a new Max for the heck of it...Yikes! I could never afford one now...but very sad to see it go.

Everyone hates the cvt but Nissan continues to stick with it. One reason I left the Nissan Maxima family years ago.

I was debating between the maxima and kia stinger gt2, and ended up with the stinger! I love it! It is so much more fun to drive than the maxima! MPG, tire life, maintenance cost all negatives for the stinger! Overall the experience in the GT2 is much better than the G70, and the maxima!

I love my 2020 Nissan platinum and like it a lot, however the CVT doesn’t give you any feedback for a sport sedan. It is relatively quick, great styling but could be a little bigger like the avalon. If they would have given it a 8-10 speed ZF transmission, better feedback from the steering. Also they could add some adaptive suspension to be fair. Great Value if can find one.

If only these Nissan vehicles never had these unreliable CVTs. Nissan vehicles were so reliable before the Renault merger. Great Video Joe!

I bought 2017 Maxima Platinum 2 years ago and I still absolutely love it. first Nissan I ever purchase in my life. CVT transmission doesn't bother me one bit s*** smooth and after so long you don't even think about it. everybody talks they want and rear wheel drive. I'm quite content with a front wheel drive. seeing where I live we get snow boys wish they would come out with a all-wheel drive but seeing they're going to discontinue it I guess that's not an option. what I consider buying another one absolutely. I find the car to be very responsive and handles good in my opinion. I'm in my early 50s on lots of cars in my lifetime so far and by far one of my favorites. I think I'll look to buy a used one in 2 years for the last model year fir sure .

The only category this beats a G70 in is rear seat room. Other than that, nothing else.

I'll pass on this one 😑. If the SR trim had a tuned version of the 9-speed automatic, then I'll consider it 😌

I’m with you. I like how it looks but I can’t get over a naturally aspirated engine with a cvt. A 8,9 or 10 speed would be perfect

There's something about Nissan is that I never get excited to see their new designs or models.

I always thought it was one of the best three cars made Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Nissan Maxima. I had wondered what happened to the Max? Anyway I dumped all three to go with Subaru Outback's. I am sad to see Maxima leave the arena. Great review as always.

I bought a new Maxima 2 years ago. Loved it but biggest con-there’s a hugh blind spot from the outside edge of the side mirror to the inside of the windshield. Too many close calls. I traded it in on a new Pathfinder last month. The Pathfinder brought the side mirrors back a few inches leaving some view between the inside of the mirror and the door frame thus eliminating a possible huge blind spot on the Pathfinder also.

had nissans for about 20 years now, max 1987 then an Altima 1995, 2000 , maxima and now a 2010 Altima since new would love to get a New max, with the discontinue can never get one.

I loved my ‘12 Maxima (Maxie) but had to trade it in years ago bc no AWD option. It drove smooth and fast on the highway. Sad to see Maxima go!! 😢

i think nissan's own altima killed off the maxima. the altima is smaller, better looking, has a more modern interior and possibly quicker... who wants an outdated maxima?

Okay, is the CVT with the simulated gear changes really any worse than the torque-converter automatic in the G70? I drove a previous generation 2014 Maxima as a rental in the summer of 2014, and I remember being pleasantly surprised at how well the Nissan programming simulated gear changes, especially when shifting manually and telling the car what to do. I currently have a 2023 G70, and while it's a nice car, and the transmission is nice, for an automatic, it still can't compare to a good manual transmission. I don't remember the previous generation Maxima (CVT) feeling any worse than a slushbox automatic. Am i missing something here?

I’d compare this to a Cadenza/K7 or Hyundai Grandeur. Even then those are on a different level. Not sure what they were doing with this car, but not comparable to a G70 or Stinger.

The reason the Maximum is called a midsize is cause the interior of the Altima is actually larger on the inside and smaller on the Maxima. People back in the day in 2004 who had purchased the Maxima were actually pissed cause the Altima had the same engine and it was larger on the inside

A while back I was thinking about getting this car, but I heard too many bad things about the CVT. I feel worse about the Stinger getting discontinued.

The Nissan maxima was always my favorite out of all the Nissans, I remember when they first started making them. I thought they were always nice every year they made them

I have the exact same color, and trim level, but mine is a 21’ I love my Maxima!

I have two cars. One with a cvt and the other wet dual clutch. On a long ride the dual clutch is the choice. But in everyday city driving with speed limits 30mph or under. The cvt is choice. Don’t have to worry about a worn out clutch. Worn out actuators. Transmission control module forgetting which gear to go to. Each transmission has a purpose. I’m in traffic everyday with $100,000+ vehicles that never leave first gear and will go most of their life in first gear. But it’s all about the environment you are in

Stinger and G70 are far superior cars than the Maxima Maxima will most likely get discontinued after this year. They are positioning the Altima as the next Flagship Shame Nissan never really gave the Maxima the attention it needed to succeed.

Unfortunately maxima besides body change and new tech changes, its been the most untouched vehicle in the nissan’s line. Maxima was my first car I’ve owned. Sad to see it go but it needs to change or needs to discontinue
