the Dark Horse is the top performance version of the 2024 Ford Mustang. On the outside you will find unique paint, 19in wheels, hood stripes and quad-tip exhaust. On the inside you will be greeted by a leather & Alcantara interior. Under the hood is a 5.0L Coyote V8 that pumps out 500HP & is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. I had a Blue Ember Dark Horse with the handling package on order, then canceled the order when we found out my wife has cancer in Oct. she had to take a leave of absent from work and I took a year off to care for her. Honestly, I think she's more excited about the Dark Horse then I am, because at the Sacramento Autoshow on Thanksgiving, we saw a Dark Horse, she sat in it, had a big grin on her face. Sometimes, life throws you a curveball, but eventually, you'll get back on track and that Dark Horse will be in our garage one day.

Unfortunately with that dashboard, it won't be a classic - it will look dated in a couple years if not sooner. Should have kept it classic - tech is moving super fast and the screens scream the year 2023. I was really looking forward to being able to keep it for a long time, given all the EV crap... but now it just looks like any other modern sports car inside (BMW or even the new KIA).. It's a nice car! But that interior will just look cheap and old soon.

I’m definitely stunned for the first time in hearing the Dark Horse. You couldn’t stop grinning. You were definitely having fun with this car. The price was out of range for me. It brings back fond memories of my V8 78 Pontiac TransAm 400. I had my car for over 10 years. I definitely miss that V8 sound & being pinned in my seat when I would get on throttle. Thanks for making me smile again!

Great video Joe!!! My neighbor on my left side just got the new BMW M3, he paid $115K. My neighbor on the other side has the Dark Horse. He spent some money to lower the weight down to 3630 pounds which is now lighter than the M3 and the Corvette C8 Z51. I have had a few track days in his DH with the Handling Package and it out performs the C8 Z51 on the track. Car & Driver in the Dec issue did their 0-150-0 test and the Dark Horse came in 2 overall in the braking portion beating the Z06 in braking. So the Dark Horse is competitive and very decent as a daily driver car. I ordered the DH back on 6 April; still waiting due to the UAW strike. Hopefully will arrive in March. Throttle House guys out performed the Mach I & C8 on their course with the Dark Horse. Imagine setting the car up with headers, full 3” exhaust, & Whipple SC stage II; recent Dyno reviews over 800 rwhp 600+ torque!!! Thank you Ford for building the 7th generation Mustang!!!! This DH is gonna be fun. Thanks for the great video both of you guys, (Joe + Lori)!!!! 👍👊💪😎❤️🇺🇸

I had a 2000 Pontiac Gr Prix and the color was called indigo metallic, very similar to this. I kept it waxed and as a result it appeared to change colors throughout the day. Gorgeous paint. This mustang is beautiful.

The steering is night and day in favor of the SS. If you could somehow stuff a Camaro chassis under this car it would be a damn near perfect pony car IMO.

I love your grin rowing thru the gears on this Dark Horse. The screens are OK. I like this car but absolutely love my 2019 Bullitt. The sound of the Bullitt tune is awesome. I do wish I had the Tremec gear box but I consider myself lucky.

I just got the 2024 GT premium. Active exhaust. Stick shift. It's really nice. Don't like the way the heated seat works.... Was better in my 2018. However overall I like it.

When I had my mind made up after many months of deciding what I wanted I was going for the 2023 Chevy RS Traverse AWD and a 2022 Chrysler 300s RWD was gonna add throttle body spacer, long tube headers, pedal commander and supercharger on it then Joe shows this video of a DarkHorse Mustang 🐎.. back to the drawing board to rethink if I really wanna go with the 300 or not but great video ..

I purchased new a 2018 Chrysler 300C 5.7 Hemi. It currently has only 29,100 miles. I've added an aftermarket exhaust. Larger throttle body and a throttle body spacer. Cold air. When I purchased it I needed a 4 door performance, luxury sedan that didn't break the bank. My wife recently traded her Honda sedan and purchased an Awd Edge ST suv. Now her vehicle gets most of the use for vacation, etc.. After a recent test drive of an S650 Dark Horse. Next spring baring any unforseen issues. I'll be trading my 300C for a new Dark Horse. I immediately discovered the new Dark Horse has been refined in many ways compared to the S550 Mustang it replaced in both exterior and interior design along with handling, braking and extra performance with it's new stronger built high revving Gen 4 Coyote. Overall I found it an amazing Mustang and a great daily driver.

@@DWH300 man .. this just made my decision harder.. even tho I can, I won't get both.. 2 v8 vehicles .. I think I'm gonna go with the Chrysler 300s and by adding a Whipple super charger to that Hemi with everything else is gonna be great.. long tube headers gonna get it that sound I'm hoping for.. me & the family we're always GM guys at the dragstrip until i showed up with a Ford Crown Vic with a coyote 🐺 in it.... been the Outsider every since, also the Mustang 🐎 won't need any mods and I like putting my touches on cars with mods to be different just wish the Chrysler had the digital and upgraded screens etc.. I give the Ford Mustang it's props for being the longest active muscle 💪🏼 car in America.. and Thank U for ur input/story.. On throttle yeah baby

I've got the S550 GT, had it from new for four or so years, and I'm in the UK so it's a pretty rare and unusual car here. Been mulling over replacing my S550 GT for the last year or so and I've tried a Porsche 718 Cayman, tried an Alpine A110S, tried an M3, and M2, and ended up not being satisfied with any of them - So went ahead and ordered the Dark Horse in Blue Ember a few weeks ago... Nothing else could replace my GT it seemed... can't wait!

Voodoo motors had some issues. I would opt for a warranty if you go that route.

I’ve heard mixed things about the voodoo we all know it needs oil.. but some say they beat on it with zero problems while others have blown the motor either decision its a win win

Torn on the Dark Horse. Like the majority of it, but to me, there are a few styling misses. Don’t care for the matte finish under the headlights or the rear wing spoiler. The biggest miss is the dash; however, my 16 year old loves it. Maybe Ford knows what they are doing and I am just out of touch…lol. That said, great value option compared to the M4.

I'd take the M car, although I'm admittedly biased. I'm not sure how many people are cross shopping at their BMW and Ford dealerships. I think the Dark Horse is great, I just think they're in different classes/categories.

Joe, I definitely like the way the front of this Dark Horse Mustang looks vs the way the BMW front looks with the oversized pig snout. The metal flake is really special that changes color depending on how much you eat, BMW doesn't have anything like that.😊

Great review. Not a fan of digital dash controls. Prefer tactical controls on my 2022 Mach 1! Nonetheless, there is a lot to like about the Dark Horse and glad Ford is still making V8s for foreseeable future!

As a person who owns two BMWs, the Mustang exhaust is unmatched. The M4 has a very similar silhouette but with that hideous front end. The price point of the Dark Horse makes it more affordable as an extra car used for pure enjoyment.

I have to disagree with that comment from Raiti he is 95% of the time on point but that so call PIG nostrils on the M4 is GORGEOUS. This is why going back to Dodge rules Mustang change it face every few year,the Challenger said nope leave it close to the 1970 model and it will and has became the HOTTEST looking car on the street .....PERIOD.

If you think about this the 2018 PP2 is where this GT platform evolution began. The PP2 is the first GT ( not gt350) to put real track focus into the GT platform. The PP2 trim ran for three years, then the Mach 1 carried it forward and now here we are with the dark horse. Btw 2018 PP2 owner here, which had super low production numbers across all three years only 256 made in my year. Joe been a subscriber since the red type R, this would be an interesting video.
