If done right, I don't think electrification will ruin the Miata at all. Personally, I plan to buy a ND3, but I can see why some people are excited about the NE. Solid state batteries are right around the corner and they're more energy dense than lithium while weighing far less. Electric motors are also getting quite small and light. I suspect the NE will be a mild hybrid system and still weight less than 2600 pounds. If it gets a significant power bump as I suspect it will, and keeps the manual, I'd consider that a success.

Next Miata will be a battery SUV with vegan leather interior.

With that new body design they showed in Japan. Which Mazda has since said is basically the next gen Miata more or less. Would be a great car.

I think people overhype the LSD. I actually prefer the headlight/DRL design on the ND1 and ND2, I don't like how they moved the DRL to the headlights. The only thing I'd like on my ND1 is that infotainment screen from the ND3. It looks nice.

they've had the factory lsd in the club trim and up since 2016, i have a 2017 club with no extra dealer options and it has the lsd, its not a new thing the only new stuff is the updated lights, the new brake ducts where the old lights used to be and the adaptive cruise control, almost everything else is the same

I actually like this new nonmetallic gray color now that I see it in a detailed leaving video. But agree that soul red is the only truly spectacular color.

Or, get it wrapped in what ever color you want and you won't have to wait for Mazda to come out with something else.

Agreed but they probably won't this generation unless their other models use the same color. I've heard that Mazda is fixed on these colors since they sell well for their standard fleet and "silvers" are in right now.

my theory is that as the paint batch ages at their mega booth it changes shades, so they release the new name of the color accordingly. lol

Triangular? Did you mean Rectangular :) It does seem too stretched. If they are going to make it bigger it should scale equally but I guess they did not want to redesign the whole dash.

It's there to assist you, if you ask me. 7 Inch is big enough. I had a testdrive in a Mazda 3 with the new system, but ended up buying a MX5 (the 3 was an alternative, should I find the 5 too small/impractical), and I don't feel that the infotainment is worse or anything. Maybe a tad bit slow sometimes, and scrolling through large listst could've be done better, but that's it. I don't want a computer on wheels.

Yea, there's always been something "off" about that steering wheel.

I have a 2017. Yeah the steering wheel is the first thing to replace. Good thing there are websites where you can custom order nice quality wheels that reuse your steering controls and you can choose the wheel shape, materials and stitching.

@@DaveSimkus I too have a 2017 from new and my right palm always stuck to the leather on the steering wheel - not my left! Tried cleaning and telling the dealership but I guess that part of the hide came from a cow that liked lollipops!

Mazda can't build cars which they won't be able to sell in the future. For example, the European Parliament has approved a law that will effectively ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the European Union starting in 2035. It's only a matter of time before other countries implement similar regulations. It's ridiculous, but it is what it is.

I have a 2017 with LED lights and honestly, the headlight design looks better than the new redesign.

The value of the "manual" ND will most likely increase once they release the electric MX5 so if you have one, hang onto it. The electric Miata will certainly be quicker, but it'll feel like a boring CVT @@RaitisRides

Once again I have to defend the headlights, I have a 2017. In my opinion, they look way better than the redesign which turns those DRLs into fake air inlets. They also make the car more visible which is very important in these little cars. With the parking lights and DRLs on, I would argue it looks way more striking than this redesign. Also, I tried both the RF and Soft Top before going with the soft top and I would definitely recommend the soft top if you want the full fun and happy experience. The RF with the roof up has this bubble type look to it with the proportions, whereas the soft top looks better because the top portion isn't as large as the RF. And then when you put the soft top down it just feels so simple and awesome, you could throw it up and down all you want, whereas in the RF I would worry about those complicated mechanisms and they take so much longer and add I think 200 pounds! Soft top is the way to go, plus you can really look all around you and feel like in a true open convertable. The RF does have a slight exotic look when the top is down, I will give it that.
