I am going to order one for my 2008 Elise c/w Smartycam. Do you have any advice in fitting the Smartycam to a Lotus and where did you fit the Data Hub?

Unfortunately, despite writing my mileage in the special instructions AND emailing them TWICE to make sure (for which they responded and said that they made sure), they simply "forgot" and the warehouse sent it out without inputting the mileage. So now I have to uninstall it and send it back to them so that they can do their job. Be careful buying from AiM, they are somewhat incompetent. The product itself is good though.

To be honest, personally I'm happy it doesn't. I prefer a relatively simple dash without distractions in the Exige. I use a phone mount for nav and music to the left of the radio :)

The Aim is much more track focused with a lot more options I think. It would be nice if they released a much cheaper version without the track stuff.

I suggested this, but it sounds like this will be the cheapest dash they offer.

To be honest, I haven't looked into it yet to be able to give you an answer. Weirdly, I haven't had much of a problem with the binnacle compared to most, I haven't thought of it much.

Dave Dewett it was the angle suggested, it’s perfect to be honest, shows the cockpit and the full windscreen. You can turn the camera on using the trip button on the steering binnacle with a 10 second press.

In my opinion the 67HFOV (aka the narrow view) lens is best for in-car view, at least in the Exige. For an example, all of my videos used the 67 lens. I say this because wider = a view more like a fish eye go pro. You can't see out the front as closely, and you see a lot of the side windows..which... I find who cares, you can't tell what is going on out the side anyway. Just my opinion, view other's videos and compare what you would like for yourself. You see in my examples that the view (when mounted on the harness/roll bar behind the seats) is a perfect view through the windscreen from left to right windscreen pillar. The camera can also be set to auto start and stop based on movement or speed. With that my Smartycam is basically 1000% hands off during track weekends. It just works without worry.

No, the dash is independent of the ECU so the old dash would retain the old mileage. The reality really is that you’d sell your car with the aim dash installed still.

It's not, if you want a dash that's fully customisable for functions like this, AIM offer other dashes which are aimed towards users who want to be able to change everything to exactly how they want it. This is designed as an OEM replacement and has all the functionality of the original dash (and more!).

I think this is a fair comment, although I deliberately didn't comment much about the Garw much in the video. In regards to your comparison, the size isn't noticeable when driving as the AIM uses it's screen real estate very well. The contrast on the Garw I have is much worse, I can't comment on newer versions which I don't have. I think there are a similar number of sensors available for both dashes, but the AIM is more plug and play in that respect with information of how to make them work a lot more simple, which is why I now have a gearbox temp sensor. The data logging also incorporates these extra sensors which is very useful. The thing you haven't mentioned is the number of bugs on the Garw, while I'm trying to be as nice and fair as possible (I like Alec who made it and want him to do well), the number of bugs on the Garw was annoying, and when I updated to the latest (admittedly prototype) software recently there were too many to even report on, plus he got rid of my favourite race screen which ruined the dash for me to be honest. The Garw has been great for the time I've had it and I've enjoyed it. It's certainly better than having an analogue dash, but the AIM is much better when you put them back to back, which is of course reflected in the price, but for me it's worth that difference in price.

@@GFWilliamsnet , Agree , the Garw falls victim to all the updates , its a cycle of adding a feature then fix the feature ,which introduces bugs and niggles every time something new is introduced, the developer loves to innovate and I expect doesn't care much for the commercial side. he does it for love not money I expect , I saw him on Car sos with the lotus esprit S1 done an amazing job on the guys S1 esprit ( probably for free) .
