I have lineageos 14.1 istalled and it's okay I guess. Works smoothly and so on altough battery seems to drain a bit faster compared to stock Kitkat in light use and also phone gets pretty warm around the camera but maybe it's just my phone. After they stop supporting this rom then I'll upgrade to lineageos 15 lol

@@YoStu242 actually after seeing this video, I dusted out my galaxy s4 and installed Android 9 Go Edition on it 😁.. But truth be told it's not exactly smooth anymore and the battery seems to drop like a stone. Phones have indeed come a loonggg way and it's no longer viable to keep the galaxy s4

Dragos Mihai Absolutely true. With each new year iPhones are getting slower. Newer ones not even have an headphone jack. And you have absolutely no control on your phone beside the App Store. You can't custom them. Pay 100$ more for 32gb more. Yeah, iPhones are worthless.

Myronaz I have a lot of things on my phone, I have 12gb left on my note 4 and 47gb left on my 128gb SD card so yeah.

I know, I have an S6 myself, got it a few months ago. And yea, no SD card isn't a big deal. I have the 32gb model and consistently have 10gb free, even after all my music and apps. I just offload the camera once a week. Battery life, yea it sucks, but the fast charger is so damn fast that it doesn't bother me. I could come home, plug it in while I take a shit, and take it off with 40% more battery after barely 15 minutes. And yea, the G5 is absolute garbage in comparison. Extremely buggy phone and there's a massive chance you'll get the unfix-able permanent boot loop that's caused by hardware degradation.

Not really. He should actually get the S7 Edge (exynos) as it's overpowered for 2016. He should get in 3 years the S7 Edge. Keep in mind that except for the 2016 S7 (edge) Exynos there was no phone that could even come remotely close to it's performance. Even in 2017 except for the Exynos Galaxy S8, OnePlus 5 and the Huaweai Mate 9 there are ZERO phones that get close to it's performance (iPhone's stand no chance at daily applications against the S7 Edge). I expect in the next year that the highest-end phones finally will have caught up with the performance of the S7 Edge...but that still leaves the camera. The S7 Edge STILL has a camera that far outperforms EVERY smartphone as a whole package (except for the Galaxy S8). This means that the S7 Edge will probably get equals AFTER 2 YEAR OF IT'S RELEASE. Think for a second about it's display. What smartphone except for the Galaxy S8-series comes even remotely close to the display quality of the S7 Edge? There is NONE. Nothing gets even remotely close to it's display brightness, clarity and outdoor visibility. The S7 Edge goes up to ~1150 Nits. The BEST LCD-smartphone, the iPhone 7 Plus ONLY goes up to ~600Nits. For an LCD that's amazing but as all reviewers say, it simply doesn't compare against the current OLED-equipped Samsung smartphones.

The main difference is that S4 has an user-replaceable battery while Galaxy S6 and newer don't - and batteries in years-old used smartphones tend to be in poor shape and require replacing.

I wanted to say the same thing. I own an Oneplus 3T now but my Nexus 5 still rocks in the hands of my father. It has pretty much the same hardware as the S4 with the advantage of stock android.

Especially if you are one of the people who dont need gaming performance etc because of the little bit dated CPUs, this really is the way to go if you are on a budget and you need a solid daily driver. CPU power of the old flagships is more than enough for browsing, social media etc

That's not a simple "Touch to install" procedure, for the majority of phone users.

The GS2 is incredibly old and had the crappy Exynos chipset, meaning it was not developer friendly at all. My GS4 Mini with LOS 14.1 sans gapps is buttery smooth.

Well the S4 has a much less battery friendly Snapdragon 600 1.9ghz Quad Core. Snapdragon 8xx series didn't even exist until some months after this phone came out.
