I’ve owned multiple M3’s and AMG’s over the decades and I currently own a M2 Competition. Whilst some of those cars were great nothing puts a bigger smile on my face than looking back at it after a exhilarating drive. Simply exceptional.

We had a 1988 5 series….bought it new…all my buddies said the service and repairs will kill you. Drove it 325k miles…only sold it because it couldn’t pass Kalifornia smog…other than normal maintenance, brakes and tires…one head rest motor failed..and water pump was replaced at about 200k miles. BMWs are awesome and this car seems like real winner. Nice job and kudos to you and Lori!

My history FYI - Purchased a new M3 - Kept it a few months and sold it for a new Porsche 917S (great car) but when my BMW dealer called and a 2021 pre-ordered / but cancelled M2C came in I jumped on it and have never looked back. The M3 has no soul and this M2C is dripping with soul and so much more - So excited to see my fav. KZfaq channel RR highlighting this unbelievable car yet again. I use it as my daily driver only because after 8 months I can still not wait each day to get in it and drive it. The most perfect size / HP automobile I have ever owned. *Joe Happy 2022 can not wait for your reviews this year - you do it like NO ONE ELSE in the biz - Period!

I drove several cars on my search over the past year or so. I have a AP1 S2000 and wanted to add another drivers car to keep the miles down. Drove the go to ZO6, GT350, M4 etc.. The internet had me sold on a Cayman S or 718. I drove all three back to back and hands down the M2C! Total package. Feels so much faster and aggressive provided it has Tourqe compared to the Cayman. I knew immediately this is a fun car! I've had the same spec M2C in this video (except for DCT) for a month now and I'm 100% happy with my decision. I love manuals but I feel like this car was designed for the DCT. It feels so much faster and it's lightning fast shifts. Awesome car!

The grill of this is so much more elegant than the M3 and M4. This works on this car. This is a cool car. Thumbs up!

This one is it. Last true M car. Everything after this might be faster and easier to drive, but they will be souless. I also love the the traditional tach/speedo look. I don't know how you're going to find this thing for less than 100k. But it you do manage to buy one, it'll probably be worth it.

The GT4 is really on another level. More of a competitor for the CS. As for the Supra, no manual=no competition

What an amazing ride! As a family man with littles this just makes sense! I’ve been looking at the Supra for awhile now, but unfortunately no rear seats like the MK4! I think you might’ve just changed my mind. The look on your face and the excitement tells everything. Keep up the good work sir!

The BMW M2 is amazing! I love the performance of that car. If I were to have my BMW M2 customized, I would definitely lower the suspension and make the exhaust note more “deeper”.

M2 comp is stunning (especially the CS). I don't want to even think about some of the latest BMW styling efforts, though. I think the M2's are peak modern BMW styling. Nothing against the Supra, but something about it just looks like it's trying too hard. Too many styling cues thrown together. I may be biased though, as I have a blue m240i x drive. Amazing car. You get 90 percent of the real world performance of the M2 plus AWD so it can be an all year car, even in the snowy Northeast. Love the channel. On throttle for 2022!

Got to drive an M2c, a Supra, and a 991.2 GT3 back to back on the same backroads for about a week. I can tell you that the M2c would be my pick. The GT3 is fantastic and the M2c gets close to that “feel”. It feels very Motorsport like the Porsche does but for 1/3 of the price. It has that zing, that special something and it can definitely hang. Huge amounts of trust in the car also, as the chassis, engine, diff, steering, transmission,and brakes are very confidence inspiring. Supra on the other hand felt sloppy, more so a decent sports car that’s mainly meant to look good around town than anything like the M2c or the GT3

Great car ! The strange think is how in USA it's becoming popular the stick driving and in Europe the automatic transmission! Personally speaking I have no idea how yout drive an automatic transmission car (I guess is not very difficult ) because my whole life I'm driving with stick as the majority in my country . But I have the impression that automatic transmission is better for high HP cars !

I would choose a Lexus IS 500 because i plant on keeping it long after the warranty is up.

Thanks for another great review Joe...this one on my car!!! I purchased one over the summer 2021 and had it shipped from California to the east coast (hard to find indeed!). I love the car, the color, and the manual transmission! I do plan on changing to a Dinan cat-back exhaust and upgrading to some Rays VMF C-01 wheels. (Waiting on supply/shipping delays!)

Great Review! You are correct. Very difficult car to find in a 6 speed manual now that they stopped making them. I found mine in Sunset Metallic early in 2020 and LOVE IT! I am like you every time I drive it - smile ear to ear and out loud laughing. I scare my wife every time we're in it...😁😁😁

I’m gonna say the M2 is better than the Supra, because you can get the M2 with a 6MT but you can’t do so with the Supra. I’m looking forward to the G87 M2. I just hope the manual G87 M2 will be offered for sale in the UK.

As an M2c owner. I have to agree it is by far the best BMW! One I plan to keep forever. If money were no object, the GT4 is a vastly superior car; just not double the money.

Interior trim is actually dry carbon fiber. Just wanted to clarify since “carbon fiber style” is typically used to describe fake carbon.

Better than supra? Short answer - overall, yes! Just bought my 2020 M2 competition (Long Beach Blue, manual, with M Performance Coilovers & M Performance Exhaust) and am having it shipped from Florida and I simply CANNOT wait 🤩 So happy to see you do a vid on one of these.

Not as in they are the worst cars but they were the biggest let downs compared to they hype they were receiving or you were just hoping for a little more from them?

I may be wrong but isn't the supra pretty much a rebadged/updated BMW ? So it's pretty much win win for BMW either way.

To me, "M2 Comp or Supra" is like a "Mama or Papa" question lol I love EVERYTHING about the M2, but I love the exterior design of Supra over everything of the M2. Supra comes with a BMW engine, so I would go with the Supra before I have kids.

Its a bit of a silly question since MOST M2 Comps are 10 - 20k over book and usually around MSRP Sticker, used!

Great review, I think you absolutely nailed it. Although, the crappy brake pads make keepIng the wheels clean a tremendous chore. I think the only reason someone would pick a Supra over the M2, is if they can’t drive a stick and if they prefer what others think about styling. To the average person that doesn’t really know much about the enthusiast market, the Supra stands out more, so they think it’s cooler and that accounts for something. An enthusiast is probably going to notice the M2 more. As for the M3, if you absolutely need a 4 door I guess that’s an option although I would go with a black wing v4 over an M3. But for a 2 door it’s M2 All day over an M4, unless you want a GT car over a drivers car. This M2 is the last of the BMW ultimate driving machines. Everything else is getting bigger and more intrusive. The incoming 2 series has already unfortunately grown and this was already the perfect size. Unless BMW makes an M1.5 people better hold on to their F87 M2s if enthusiast driving is their #1 priority.

I love the M2, it comes in manual & it's a blast to drive. I got the Supra anyways because it embraces being a sports car instead of keeping that sedan look from the M2. No one looks twice at an M2 but people break necks for the Supra.

If u want to put 20 foot longs and 75 Twinkie’s go for the x5 M competition. If u what the best handling and the most nimble this is your ride. Personally I prefer the supra. Yes I may sound crazy I prefer sound of the 3.0 liter engine in the supra and I do like the styling better but all the fake vents I can do without.

Most everyone here is too young to know that back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth, BMW actually made cars with truly distinctive body styles. Sure, the cars are made better and are safer now, but models like the 2002, 3.0CS, and Bavaria were much classier looking and stood out more from the pack of similar-looking cars today. YMMV :>)

This is the closest to the spirit of the original M3 big engine in a small car. The design is better than the 2022. Can’t say anything about the Supra. I’m confused what to think about it.

Great car and review. I have a manual e46 M3 and have to say the shift gate and clutch pedal feel is the best I have ever owned. I even prefer it to a 911 twin turbo. That is just my opinion.

M2 is far more urgent and high-strung than the Supra. The Supra is sweet and it's quick but you can definitely tell a difference in an M2. The M2 suspension also beat the crap out of you LOL we're at the Supra is it smooth machine. I like anything with that engine so just get them all for whatever mood you're in. 😁

love the way you narrate stuff man.. the M2Comp pays true homage to the E46 M3, way more than the E92 ever did and has more power to boot. Comparing this to a GT4 is says alot for BMW given that the GT4 costs considerably more and its a very different animal. As for the Supra comparo, the Supra manual is coming and I am hoping Toyota vamps up a few more things other than just the transmission. Even if the new Supra has more BMW in it than JDM roots, once it is offered in a manual, I think it will come down to individual preference as to what the person wants to look and drive. Either way you cannot go wrong with an M2Comp.. I owned a 2019 M4 and still wished I had picked up an M2Comp instead.

Probably funner than 95% of cars out there currently and worth every dollar!

I sure hope this was a pre owned M2C...not one with no miles... As an owner of an M2C...you're not supposed to take this car over 5500 RPM or 105mph until you hit 1200 miles. At that point, the car needs to be serviced for the rear diff fluid change and and it's 1st oil change. If you don't abide by these rules...you can seriously damage the car. I know this only because I picked my M2C up in Spartansburge at the BMW track and was explained this in detail by professional drivers and technicians. Most dealerships unfortunately don't read the "memos" as they say and people drive these things off the lots and can end up really messing up the car. Once the diff fluid and oils been changed, go nuts. This is easily the best car in its class and best bang for your buck imo.

I'm extremely tempted to buy a 2021 M2 Comp right now, BUT my next big purchase is a house in Texas, so I have to resist for a while lol. Plus on top of that A LOT of dealerships are doing 10,000 mark ups on their M2s, more if it's a stick so waiting really is the best choice until the market dies down again.

I currently have a 2020 m240i , love it , but I’m thinking of what to upgrade to once my warranties up in about a year, new m4? , next gen m2?, or one of these slightly used m2’s? Even though they are hard to find I think the new 2 series are ugly even considering more power. Any thoughts?
