Definitely fishing the heck out of my bg mq 3000 despite of the cold weather here in NE Florida! In comparison with my saltist back bay & spinfisher, it's definitely lighter and just silk!

I love my Daiwa BG MQ 4000. Best real under 200 bucks imho. It’s my goto for inshore.
@HBweisse9 ай бұрын
In all honesty I think that the Stradic is a better reel, it’s better sealed and still quite robust. Having said that, the BG MQ reel competitor is the Spheros sw no the Stradic but I agree that the bg MQ has got sizes that the Spheros doesn’t cover (the small ones). The MQ is a bit lighter, and that’s a very nice aspect due to the MQ body compared to Spheros, but again the Spheros is better sealed. The material used for the main gear in both Stradic and Spheros is better and not zinc like in the MQ, which compensates with a bigger main gear so maybe at the end of the day it’s the same thing. All in all the only real reason for which I’ll probably never buy a bg MQ is the price. I think the price point is too high for what it actually offers, it’s more expensive than a Spheros sw which is definitely not worst. I’d probably prefer the bg black lt to the MQ tbh, and as an upgrade I’d just jump to the saltist MQ which I like quite a lot, even if probably the Saragosa sw is a bit better (also because it’s less expensive)

I just bought the BG MQ 3k and I got the wife a BG 2500. We’ll see how they differ. We’re taking them out this Friday to break them in. I found it weird that the MQ 3k spool is not as wide as the BG 2500 spool. They look and feel great though.
@Saltstrong2 жыл бұрын
correct, smaller diameter but larger gears inside the reel and lighter material.

I bought my second one of these from you guys because of this video. The first one I bought from Bass Pro shops, it was not inside the plastic bag in the box, the box itself was beat up, and the handle had a scratch on it. The one I got from you guys was sealed, pristine and brand spanking new. I am very, very happy with my purchase and I’m going to buy future reels from you. Thank you!!!

I was ready to buy 3 but when I looked up reviews on the Diawa forum, the consensus was the BG MQ leaks like a sieve. I think I'll spend the extra money and get 3 Saltists. I bought a Fuego, the reel flexes so the handle seems to be warped, not when you're working a bait but when there's a load on the road. Even a small bass. feels like I'm fighting the reel more than the fish.
@Saltstrong2 жыл бұрын
there is flex in the Fuego, that's true. the saltist is great as well. We haven't had any issues out of our BG MQ yet though.
@Jritchey12112 жыл бұрын
Where was this statement that the reel "leaks"? And who's dunking spinning reels? 😅 it is incredibly well sealed, but it's not to be compared to a Van Staal that is designed to be submersible. For most Inshore Fishing applications throughout the Southeast and Eastern seaboard, it's a fantastic reel.
@vernlivingthefloridadream73702 жыл бұрын
@@Jritchey1211 It was on a forum for Diana reels. I don’t remember which one. I was doing my own research and was surprised to see all the negative comments on that reel. Best reel I have is a 3000 pursuit combo I found on the bottom of callalisa creek in New Smyrna. Water was so clear that day. Seen it on the bottom in probably 6 or 7 ft of water. Had barnacles on it. Took it home. Cleaned it up and it's like brand-new. Not a huge fan of the rod because it's a little stiff but I'll keep using it for the money I have in it and it keeps catching fish.🤷

Can you recommend an excellent rod to match the BG MQ 2500? I have the BG MQ 4000 on a Diawa 5'8 Harriery and the 10000 on a Diawa Black Water rod. One of those combos is always with me offshore. The reels never fail and catch fish. I would like to also have a smaller reel for river and lake trips.
