Great looking Stengel and Feller! Even though the Dallas show might have lost its luster with you, I’d still love to someday go down and visit you, check out The Beast, and attend the show (maybe even fit in a round of golf too).

Now that is a completely different story John. That would be awesome.

I’ll say the same thing as everyone else. I’m happy for you keeping the Ty Cobb card. I know it was hard enough for you having to sell the Babe Ruth cards. Also I used to think about traveling to the Dallas show, but I have heard that there isn’t enough vintage to make it worth my while. It’s no Strongsville.

Hey Mike! Awesome seeing you again there. Glad to hear you did go ahead and stick with keeping the Cobb after the conversation. Definitely Dallas Show has turned into please buy my things way over and/or allow me to buy your stuff reasonably! It was almost impossible as a dealer to purchase cards back into inventory. Oh well, there is always a next show!

Nice pickups Mike! Found some autographed Twins Hofer's after you left, Kaat, Oliva, Mauer. Someone put them in the case when I wasn't looking. Sales were stellar, similar to the March show.

I agree with you regarding the Dallas show. Not really worth a long drive for a vintage collector other than to see friends.

World Series Hangover. It is so real. I suffered from it (2011,2013,2015). It's still early. 😉

It's funny that the Dallas card show is one of the big ones. When I was growing up i the 2000s, it was tiny compared to the Houston show. And then obviously the National was a whole nother level

I'm with you...there's really no reason for me to go to that show unless people I'd like to see are coming in from out of town. In my case, it's because what I collect is weird.

I wanna vist texas and the dallas card show would be a great connection to do that but yeah I also am not into the shiny new cards.. I dabble in some but might be fun to walk the floor and see what people are buying there… i will make it there prolly in the next year or so but find the travel to texas more interesting then the show…..
@BaseballCollector2 ай бұрын
I get it Lee. It is definitely worth going to once.
@zachpierce6412 ай бұрын
Dallas is fun but I find the more I go I know what tables to skip right over . I used to go about 4 hours Friday and 5 to 6 hours Saturday. Last time I went I was ready to go after like 4 hours total. I walked the whole floor saw the tables I wanted to check out made a few purchases and I was set. Just don’t have a want to stand around and look at stuff I’m not interested in and doesn’t take me long to know who to skip right over because they’re overpriced. Card show burnout would be a good topic. I still love this idea of going to card shows but the same dealers same venue is going to grow stale if nothing happens to change it up. Autograph guest are great but I’m not traveling to Dallas to stand in line for autographs. That’s just me

Dallas show is becoming just another show. Def. Worth attending if you live within an hour of Dallas. Anything longer its not worth it.

The Dallas Show is synonymous with everything in the hobby that peaked during Covid. It was only special because it was the only show at the time.

all my leaf graded cards say 1948 leaf…. so are the grading companies wrong ? I’m going to guess not with there large team of card specialists… ??? just asking… give some insight on why u called them 1949 leaf ?
@BaseballCollector2 ай бұрын
Yes Lee, the grading companies are wrong. The set was begun in late 1948 (design, printing, etc.) but the first cards were released n March of 1949.
@leehaskins3072 ай бұрын
@@BaseballCollector So is the date when they were printed or released ??? during covid many cards were released late due to covid.. so which year r they being created but delayed due to covid for relase ??? I’m going with the grading slab date… so 1948 is the card date for my leaf cards… i just saw some newley shelved 2022 cards at my walmart.. are they 2022 or 2024 ? I dont know.. but I’m sure the cards say 2022.. so yeah thats the date… just like 1948 leaf..
