We sailed around Komodo National Park, including the beautiful Padar Island where we swim at Pink Beach, Taka Makassar, Kelor Island, Kalong Island and stop at many places to snorkel along the way!

Everything was so detailed that I felt the vast majesty of Komodo Island very well. The scenes of bats flying in the sky with beautiful sunsets in scattered rays seemed like a fantasy fairy tale of a pirate world. The romantic pink beach, the landscape of Padar Island, the shallow water and its fish, the coral reef and indeed the prehistoric komodo dragon are all wonderful creations.

Hi Ty, I'm Indonesian and I think I can give a bit clearance about what happen when you tried to find other Komodo. Actually there are "plenty" of Komodo you can see in Komodo island. But those "plenty" numbers already lot decreased year after year (because of low reproduction due to stress that Komodo dragons had experienced, etc.), made UNESCO gave their concerns since 2020 regarding the negative impact on the environment and Komodo dragon in the area. Even in 2021 UNESCO urged Indonesia government to stop the tourism projects in and around Komodo Park sites. Komodo island has been titled as world heritage since 1991, and because of the UNESCO's concerns, Indonesian government tried to convinced UNESCO by doing lot of conservation efforts than before since last year (and still on going until today). That's why the government raised the tickets (for conservation funds), and limited the tourism visits starting this August 2022 (which previously no limit). So, the main reason why it's not easy anymore to see many Komodo like before, because most of Komodo dragons were in the "sterile area" (from human) due to the conservation program for certain periods. Which only few numbers of Komodo that allowed to put at outside of the sterile area, for tourism purpose. But yet the trainers cannot force this few numbers if they won't come out from their nest. If they did that, they will be fired. That's why you can see the trainers look like annoyed (which they shouldn't) when the tourists demands more Komodo to see. But I totally understand if there is any tourist felt what they paid is not worthy anymore like before. So I really like to see whether the tourism authority can compensate what the tourists has paid (which we know there is no compensate to replace our experience to see Komodo). But if they can't compensate, at minimum the trainers or authority SHOULD explain appropriately to the tourists about the current situation. Hope this can give you a bit of clarification. Thanks 🙏

@@tyandsoph You're welcome. Also a hint for those who read this comment: Everyone can see Komodo on Rinca Island (next to Komodo Island) with cheaper ticket and more Komodo to see. Currently the ticket around 150k IDR or 9.96 USD (not include guide) for each foreigners. You can research the travel information about Komodo in Rinca Island from the internet, and please use the official travel agency. Thanks. 🙏

We went a few years back and we must have been very lucky because we we part of a group of 8 people and we saw quite a few dragons and the guides were really good.

I love the way Soph says we saw a baby shark so calmly while still in the sea 😆 I'm sat here thinking oh no I wonder if the shark is right by their ankles ( baby shark teeth = sharp teeth lol) And the komodo dragons looked a little worrisome 🙈 I was ready for you to Start running in a zigzag .... and was quite happy you didn't venture further into the park to find more haha. Brill though and another fantastic experience added to your memories xxxxxx

It was only a baby one 😆 they’re not dangerous ones, it was probably just a reef shark. The Komodo dragons were cool to see, they’re huge in real life! It was definitely another fantastic experience, we would do it all again! Xxxx

Ah this has given me even more inspo for my travels!! That sunset made me nearly well up it was so beaut! Planning on going to Bali in August and would love to do this!! How far in advance did you book this? Also, in your video the cost was £181 but on the website is £600, I may have got this all wrong. But if not, was it cheaper to book while in Bali? Hi Josie, thanks for watching! The sunset is the best we've ever seen, it was breathtaking!! We actually booked it when we got to Flores through our hotel, I'm not sure you can book while in Bali unless you do the boat trip from bali to komodo islands! But if you want to just go to komodo islands, you have to fly to Labuan Bajo in Flores and do the tour from there. Ahh thats great, we're glad our videos are helpful! thank you xx
