The Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical is a hand wound field watch with a real connection to history. But the price keeps going up. Is this watch still a good value? Is it still a good watch to recommend to someone wanting an affordable but reliable Swiss watch?

I have a titanium date one i really like. The power reserve is amazing because the rotor winds both ways. I put a deployment silicone band on it, wears comfortably. I also have a go.d jazzmaster wigh power reserve dial on a leatner deployment band. Heavy, solid, still wears well. Beautiful dress watch.

It’s a good affordable “Swiss Watch” but a little pricey for its deficiencies. I bet there are still plenty of people who still like it though. Wear what you want I say. Thanks for the thorough review.

Yeah, the full retail price has gotten pretty steep, but it's still quite popular. I'll be doing a comparison of this watch next to a budget version soon. Thanks for watching!

50 meters isn't that bad in general, what worries me is how many images you find around the internet of this watch fogged up inside, making me question its water resistance.

I have the KFA 38 and KFM 38, both in black dial and factory bracelets. I'll later on buy the KFM 38 white dial and KFA 38 silver dial. They will be on factory bracelets which ill purchase separately. I started my mechanical journey with 3 Seikos, but it will be all Hamilton from now on. The watches out of the box run great, just as you mentioned.

I have worn Hamiltons for almost a decade and I love them. It wasn't until I bought the mechanical that I truly understood how awesome they are. I bought the white dial mechanical 42mm and something about waking up and winding that piece every day or two along with it running around +2spd, the insane legibility and the near infinite possibilities for straps. It's just a magical piece, and I wear it more than the other 5 Hamiltons I own, which are all autos. I will never part with this simple watch.

Probably one of the most overhyped watches ever. There are dozens of very similar looking watches for half or even third of the msrp of this Hamilton - and I'm struggling to see what's so appealing about it to pay $600 or frankly even $400.

What at the 3rd of the proce has the accuracy, herritage and finish?

@@daveLin104 Is that finish here in the room with you? It's an ordinary, bead-blasted case ffs, every Chinese company can do that and better (and they do!).You can get a smooth seconds quartz which will eat that movement for breakfast, while not requiring you to wind it every other day. And the only people who suddenly care about "the heritage" are the ones who overpaid for a watch like that Hamilton and now are trying to justify it. PS: Mark from Long Island Watches made two very compelling videos about how much is that "Swiss Made" sticker really worth these days. I really recommend watching both.

@TelephoneNinja so you are now comparing a quartz movement to a quartz and saying more accurate 🙄 A cheap digital childs quartz is more accurate than a 20k Rolex non comparable. A chinese watch has no brand name or herritage. You are a Mark long island watch fan who just copies seiko designs and has cheap Seiko NH35 movements in. So he wants you to buy these clones rather than a swiss watch. Name me a watch with real herritage and as accurate as the Hamilton all mine have been within a couple seconds a day. My Seikos nowhere near that for example my Seiko spb143 with 6r35 is +11.
