Keto changed my life. I lost exactly 50 pounds in just over three months. My ADHD symptoms are 95% gone and my PMDD is completely gone. I love it.

@@user-id8dm2co1f I haven’t gone back to bananas personally because they are really high carb, but I’ve had a few blueberries here and there. When I first started I tried to be as strict as possible and now I am still pretty strict but for example today I had some watermelon. For mental health, it depends on the person. Some people need to stay on strict therapeutic diets for a long time, and some don’t. Congrats on day 3!! I’m excited for you!

I've been doing keto for 16 weeks and I've lost 68 pounds so for I've got 45 more to go. Keto is the best deit I've been on. It's not a starvation diet. I eat till I'm not hungry anymore. I don't over eat like I use to but I do not snack. My brother has been on keto for 7 months he lost 80 pounds but he does snake quite often. I also do the intermittent fasting also.

Amazing when you aren't on a glucose roller coaster you have the extreme need to eat or feel hangry towards others when you aren't addicted to your food. I often ask people to take the grain (of which sugar is one of course)challenge. Dont eat any grains for 3 days and then eat the least tasteful source of grains like 1 slice of wonder bread and you know what a junkie feels like. the hard part is to become aware of all the sources of brains that are out there. BTW, coffee, like any stimulant causes an insulin response too. So have the 1 cup in the morning as your addiction demands, have the insulin response, not ideal for ketosis but, oh well but then dont go all day constantly sipping caffeine.

I used to be a pharma sales rep peddling a statin. If you really read the studies that got these drugs approved you will see the heart attack risk reduction numbers they claim are very toyed with. They can do all sorts of things with “statistics”. I had a colleague call out the study in a meeting for not representing the actual data and she was called out of the meeting and was told is she ever brought that up again she would be fired. Also one of my competitor drugs actually had a study that showed higher heart attack in the treatment group . This was in the 90s so I’ve known the truth about this long before going keto and yes my LDL is sometimes slightly elevated. I don’t lose sleep over it. Go to pubmed and read the research yourself before starting any drug.

"Give me a Double Whooper combo king size please." Sitting in the parking lot eating it. You finish it, you leave, you see a Taco Bell. "I will have a grilled stuffed burrito, a 7-layer burrito and a churro". You sit in the parking lot and eat it. You leave. Oh, the car needs gas, you pull into a station and while filling up you decide you will go in and get a drink, you come out with a hotdog. You eat it. This is all within an hour. After all this you still feel hungry! This was me. Sadly, to say it just was not a "once in a while" occurrence. It was on a regular basis. Till one day I stepped on the scale and the number broke me down. That day it really hit me, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 344lbs!! I was dying. No if ands or buts, I WAS DYING!! Or should I say, “I WAS KILLING MYSELF”!!! Do not get me wrong, I was not in denial about being overweight, Fat, Obese, Morbidly Obese, whatever term you want to give it I knew that is what I was. The biggest problem was, I had “Accepted” that, this is who I was. Self-acceptance, the gateway to bliss and utter happiness. Well that day I finally myself. I “Accepted” that I was Morbidly obese and dying. I accepted that I was causing my wonderful wife so much stress and worry that she would be left without a husband. I accepted that accepting myself as I was, was unacceptable!! So next day I started a diet, 16 months later I was 128lbs lighter and healthy, wealth and wise! SO EASY!!! NOT!! But a big understanding for folks who do not understand the compulsion to eat and the power it has have this train of thought. That all you need to do is stop eating so much exercise and all is good. Sounds easy but not so. This eating compulsion I have is the same as the compulsion a Drug/alcohol addict has. And to fight it, I had to find the cause, why did I have it? And that was the first step. It took a while to figure it out. It was last thing I would expect. FEAR. When I felt hunger, I got scared. Let me explain. I grew up very poor, homeless and went hungry a lot. Not just missing a meal here and there but I am talking about days at a time. And when I had access to food I ate, and ate, and ate afraid of when the next meal would be. And that fear followed me through life. How did I figure it out? I fasted for 24 hours, and “analyzed” what was going on. Did I feel hungry? Yes. Was I physically affected? Yes. SO, what was going on? I knew it did not take $50 worth of fast food at a time to stop me from being hungry, so what? Then my wife asked me an epiphany of a question. “Why are you scared?” Huh? What? From her perspective I was acting like I was afraid of something. I realized I was feeling the old childhood fear of not knowing when I would eat again. I had gotten so used to acting on it, it became a subconscious behavior. So, with this new insight, I started looking for “Diets”. I tried Weight watchers, lost some weight but constantly hungry, weight came back. Tried Atkins, lost weight but caused me issues with digestion and kidneys. Weight came back. Went to nutritionist. Sat down at desk with them and first thing they did was open google and search for low Cal/fat diet and exercise plan. Really? Paying someone to Google for me. Finally I realized that in all things I go to God but for some reason I never went to him with it, well once in a while it would come up in prayer but not really giving it to him. I finally did. I gave it to him. Then started looking for some info on how the body uses/stores fat I found a video of a body builder who used Keto to cut. SO, I figured what the hay! Came up with a simple week’s menu with the correct ratios and went for it. Lost 15lbs first 3 weeks. I would like to say it was a downhill road from there, but it was not. But I researched more and more, adjusted it to me, added Intermittent and EXtended fasting Lost another 50lbs in the following 6 months. Then stalled. For months. 3 in fact. Same diet, same food, same exercise. Started having digestion issues. Did more research. That is when I found a video of a Doctor talking talking about veggies. So, figured what the Hay, give it a week, worse that could happen is I gain a few lbs. Added way more dark greens and occasional berries and stall broke. In the following 7 months I dropped another 68lbs. So in just under 16 months I dropped 133lbs. Was it easy? NO!! Am I finished? Nope got 35lbs to go. But the sacrifices made do not come close to the gains. I am better able to serve the LORD in his Church. I am finally able to be a better Husband and serve my wife as the LORD commands, I even started a KZfaq channel sharing some of my favorite recipes. The journey has just begun but, the elevation is starting to level out. I know the LORD has plans for me and this part is done. Now I am up to the physical aspects of it and ready to take the rest whatever it may be head on.

Kudos to GMA for the first actually science based answer on the Keto question. The good doctor fumbled on the "bad cholesterol" point, but as statins are the most lucrative drug in history, its going to take time for people to realize there's no science against high LDL... even though the Sydney study and the Minnesota Heart Experiment study showed it isn't the bogey man its made out to be.

thats the key is to recognize a high carb, simple carb diet is an addiction, the food industry has it be that way for a $ reason. How can you lose weight when you are always hungry? Bombing your liver with carbs(especially fructose)? Life on the insulin roller coaster is tiring, addictive, fattening, fatiguing. Thats why the keto diet is gaining so much momentum despite cutting into the grain in dustry profits

One year on keto, down almost 70lbs, bad cholesterol down, good up, insulin and sugars down, blood pressure down. That’s the only change I’ve made in my life. My doctor says I haven’t been this healthy in 30+ years. He has proven to my with the results people are not made to eat a high carb diet. Yet this is what our governments tell us to eat via their food pyramid.

So they did clarify on this, but I do feel that it's essential that people understand the term. A pescatarian diet is when you only allow fish into the diet, but no other meats. The reason why they only choose fish (and I'm thinking its only certain fish) is because certain fish are way better for your overall health than say beef, steak or even porkchops. The only downside to this is the fact that fish in general is going to be more expensive and that's why only certain people will go this direction since their budget works within this diet range.

@@Grip3340 well my point is that fish are a lean, low calorie and highly satiating source of protein. Also they take on different spices and flavors very well so you can get pretty creative with the way you choose to cook them. Seeing as both chicken breast and beef average over 1,000 calories a lb, it’d be a healthier choice to go for some tilapia or catfish instead that sit around only 600 calories per lb. In addition they are packed with nutrients and vitamins, there’s a lot of benefits to eating a pescatarian diet including variety and nutrition.
@southsidefronto
@southsidefronto Жыл бұрын
@@Grip3340 that’s actually a really good point you brought up about the difference between health conscious people like us and people who don’t actually know about these things just due to being uninformed. I agree with you on some things and really good point about finances and nutritional knowledge. I guess there’s really a lot of factors that determine why someone would feel inclined, repulsed or indifferent to trying a pescatarian diet. My reasoning was mostly because of the nutrition and calorie count and also that I like to get my protein from meat (which is why I can’t will myself into going vegetarian) but I’m sure there are a lot people follow the diet just because they really like fish or just prefer it over other meats.

If you watch the saturated fat, Keto is a good way to eat. High blood sugar is an arterial irritant, and high LDL caused by saturated fats cause plaque to form at those irritated sites. Keto lowers high blood sugar, but until you achieve this, high LDL can cause plaque. Best to avoid both saturated fat and sugar for better health. Plants and protein high in mono-saturated fats and omega-3 are beneficial. Omega-6 from seed oils on the other hand raises LDL. Of course everyone likes pizza and beer etc, and of course you can have them, but should be consumed on a limited basis. We are what we eat!

I started on the sustainable KETO diet to heal my depression about a year ago. Unlike psychotropic medications with possible side effects such as dizziness, nausea, constipation, spontaneous combustion, temporary blindness, suicidal thought, walking around in brightly colored work-out clothing with a clipboard in your hand and high-fiving everyone you see for no discernible reason (at least that's what you see in a lot of prescription drug TV commercials) the only side effects I experience from the a full day of eating under the Carnivore KETO plan is an occasional case of the Meat Sweats. For example, I'm proud to say that for breakfast I had four strips of bacon, a couple of breakfast sausage patties, four eggs (2 over easy and 2 poached), a small skirt steak (medium rare), a protein shake, some avocado on toast and and just a soupcon of scrapple - all washed down with a nice bubbly ice cold Diet Cola. . At lunchtime, I got a can of corned beef hash from the pantry which went right into the frying pan with some chopped onions and ketchup for seasoning, and a fried egg on top. Some Beef and Barley Soup went right well with that. For dinner, it's gonna be 10 oz. of 93/7 steak tartare with an egg on top, , some thinly sliced potatoes and heirloom tomatoes pan roasted in extra virgin olive oil.. Yeah, I'm cheating a bit with "taters and maters" - but you gotta have at least SOME carbs everyday and if you don't eat any vegetables you run the risk of scurvy. I'm also proud to say that when I weighed myself right after lunchtime, I discovered that I'm halfway to my goal of shedding another 10 lbs. to get to my target weight of 150 and my BMI is a healthy 18.2. . Wish me luck everybody!! - and have a nice protein packed weekend!. If the weather's nice where you are, fire up that charcoal or get that propane burning and get some protein on that grill!!

A carnivore keto diet has helped me so much. My doctor told me that the main thing is to do it with caution. He doesn't want your ketone levels too high and that you can't go back to a carb addiction when you get to a healthy weight. I personally failed so many diets under his supervision and he knew I was following them to the letter. Apparently I have something called Insulin Resistance and it was keeping me from being able to lose fat even restricting my calories. He is an amazing doctor for being willing to help people like me who felt so defeated by not being able to lose weight. He did say to me that this diet is not for everyone but it is great for some people as long as it is being monitored and I listen to what my body is telling me.

I still have more weight to lose but with my doctors supervision and listening to my body. I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER. I hate that you didn't have a good experience. Best of luck following whatever path of healing that helps you most. I did find a resource that I feel was helpful to me called zivli. She is on KZfaq and she is not carnivore. That is how I do my metabolic testing for an affordable price because blood labs are so expensive. Check out her channel because like I said she is not carnivore. I did a keto-based plan created by doctors. My saturated fats went down actually because it recommended very little fat and they were healthy fats to help you stay satiated but more like 2 tablespoons a day. You could eat a lot of vegetables but you had to stay away from starchy ones but you could eat 1/4 cup or 1/3 cup or 1/2 cup per day. And then the really good vegetables you could eat a lot of. Fruits were off on the menu. Some low fat meat portion sized at 4-5 oz a day was allowed and making sure your proteins were at the right level. I never in 1 million years have lost weight strictly from watching what I ate. I would definitely gain weight if I ate wrong but never lose it. And then combining it with exercise really helped. All told I lost about 55 pounds but then I plateaued.

As an epileptic and a volunteer for the epilepsy foundation there's a big difference between the regular keto diet and the one used for epilepsy and other medical conditions. Do not put them in the same category. If u aren't careful with this diet u can end up with ketoacidosis which can be fatal so any diet needs medical supervision

What some of you promoting this don't seem to realize is over time this diet is really hard on your liver and kidneys. I would get those numbers checked, because very high protein diets are really hard on your kidneys. Just ask those of us with kidney issues where you have to curb your protein intake. It may help you lose weight, but it's doing other damage you don't know about. It's disappointing that she did not mention that issue. Go get your bloodwork done every now and then and see if your Kidney GFR number is dropping

My doctor is worried but I'm not. With all life throws at me it's an amazing feeling to stop mid sentence and say what was I talking about again because it means I don't need to talk to anyone (That stress is gone), Feeling uneasy means more couch time (the absolute best), finally it doesn't bother me in the slightest that my body is potentially killing me (I had a good run). Keto is healthy if you eat the good quality foods recommended. Dr. Jen probably didn't make the best choices for food if she was concerned about cholesterol. Olive oil, grass-fed beef, grass-fed butter, avocados, and salmon are the healthy keto diet recommended fats. There are no health concerns associated with these foods. Too bad she's giving out bad advice. My husband and I went on a keto diet guided by Dr. Berg while seeking a heart-healthy diet. We got great results in overall health including a combined weight loss of 50 lbs. after just 12 weeks. So many people may lose out if they get discouraged listening to Dr. Jen.

You can be keto and not be high fat. I eat the same amount of fat I did before I started keto. Still eat lean meats. I don't do butter in my coffee or fat bombs, that's just ridiculous 🙄. A good sustainable keto diet is healthy meats, lots of veggies, some fruit in moderation, and some nuts and seeds, some dairy and healthy fats. I don't see how people knock it? If you do it cleanly, there isn't any healthier diet out there.

if you follow the keto diet how can you not be in ketosis? Makes no sense. Hi carb diets cause energy storage. To maintain the glucose level your brain stores excess carbs to lower the blood glucose level. This energy storage is in the form of fat. Eating fat and carbs like pizza and ice cream causes your body to burn the carbs(a more efficient source of energy) and store the fat unless of course you are so active that you burn through the carbs and your body goes for the fat when the glucose level drops. Chances are if you eat pizza and ice cream going for a 5 mile run is not on your to do list. uusally you finish off a healthy high carb,high fat meal like that with a cup of coffee and maybe a nap

Why don’t you speak for yourself? On top of that, you make statements that cannot be verified, as we know nothing about what caused your health issues. I’ve been on Keto nearly 15 years and I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been. Prior, I had high blood pressure, tachycardia, severe acid reflux disease, high cholesterol, and unexplained ankle swelling. Literally 2 months in, all these ailments were gone. Cholesterol went down 6 months later when it was checked for the first time. How do you think we as humans survived at the dawn of time… waaayyy before we cultivated grain and sugar? That’s right, we hunted for mostly meat, fish, ate the occasional tree nut and plant, which were all scarce at the time. We didn’t have endless supplies of fruit trees either like we farm for now. If eating keto was bad for your health, we as a species would have never made it. Just because you supposedly had a negative experience, it doesn’t give you the right to trash this way of eating.

I can tell you no it is not good for you and I can tell you it is not sustainable, I did the Atkins keto diet before it was even popular and for a very very long time, what happened was I ended up having to take out part of my colon and have laparoscopic surgery I'm lucky I didn't end up with a bag on the outside of my body from doing keto. When you do not get enough fiber in your diet your colon has to overwork itself. Chicken fish lobster crab legs bacon sausage butter steak are all delicious with zero fiber. I did not eat enough vegetables, most people don't and they won't with this diet they will overeat on the stuff that they are not supposed to just because it's easier and it tastes delicious that doesn't mean it's good for you. Anything over 10% meatwise in your diet will cause numerous cancers.
