This week, Financial Times said that India, the mother of democracy, is in ill health. India has also been called an ‘electoral autocracy’ by the V Dem Institute in their latest report.
We try to analyse how true these claims are through the prism of the Indian media and how free and fair democracy in India really is. Meanwhile, to the surprise of absolutely no one, the media this week found an issue to attack a prime minister - just not Modi.

Fun fact is that India didn't even cede Katchatheevu. Historically, it was used by fishermen of both India & SL and both the countries claimed sovereignty over the island. In 1974, when both the countries agreed to draw an international maritime boundary between them it was found that most of the island was falling on the Srilankan side. So as a gesture of goodwill, India agreed to move the line bit towards our side and recognised SL's sovereignty over the island. P.S. - Whoever wants to know more, there is an interesting interview of a former Foreign Secretary by Karan Thapar on 'The Wire' YT channel.
