Today I'm taking a detailed look at New Balance's brand new model, the ML 2002R in the Marblehead Aluminum colorway ML2002RC. The New Balance 2002R is a re-release of the 2002 from the year 2010 but this time around with an updated midsole unit taken from the 860v2. I was a bit sceptical at first whether it would meet my expectations, now having them in hand I was able to get a pretty good look at them. Which colorway did you get? Yes I have to agree, the 2002R is more cushiony, maybe that was their intention without touching their classic 990 line which is a stability shoe. Thanks for sharing your thoughts ☺️

I’ve got them in the same color I believe it’s called Marblehead, I originally wanted to cop the beige/cream and when I tried it on feet the guy at the new balance store convinced me to go with a darker color way as I wear jeans darker jeans eveyday. The fit was true to size for me!

Thanks for the recommendation. I bought the 990v5 and the 2002R and I actually like wearing the 2002R more. The sole of the 990v5 is quite squishy and not for me. The 2002R has amazing quality suede and build, it is basically a half price 992.

The off white/cream laces are 120cm. They're a little short and I solved this by doing what I showed in the video. 130cm will be a little better

Where are those heart socks from in the thumbnail? Also I like those off white laces not sure where you got them. Lastly, you’re saying go .5 up from tts? Love the editing and how you showed the city off a bit

Thank you! Those are J. Clay socks, not sure if you will still be able to find them, the release was a good two years ago or so. The laces are made in Germany by Barth but I'm sure there will be other off white/cream laces that will work. I like their cotton laces because they come close to the NB. With up 0.5 size I mean from your normal NB size. I know several people who did, some returned their tts pair, others bought their second pair bigger

@@HighlyAkicktive My true NB size varies, in 997 and 998 I can wear 11, in 1500 I HAVE to wear 11.5, 990's I can get away from TTS or .5 down. So you think I need a 12?

Thank you 😊. Haven't tried any trail 575 but a friend has one. He said they're a little more narrow in the toe but not so much to size up. Quality looks pretty good from what I can see

I'd buy the one I'd get the most enjoyment out of regardless of the price. In this case the subtle superior quality in every detail of the 992 would make me prefer it over the 2002

yes, by a brand called Barth that you will probably only find here in Germany. They match pretty well. You can see them on my IG in one picture

Good video, this shoe is cool, but I think it is overhyped ATM. For me, it looks like a mashup between the 993 and the 990v2. I don't think the 990v6 will look like this because I think the 990v6 will look a lot more techy and modern looking.

I think the model has its place in NBs line-up, it seems like the want to grab a market share in a mid-tier range as well where people don't think too much whether they should pay full retail for a sneaker or not. It's just surprising that they have already done more collabs on the 2002R than they ever did on the v5. I think there were just few with DTLR.

IMO if you want the best of both worlds (990v6 & 2002R), I'd strongly suggest the 990v4. I love 2002Rs, but the 990v4 is like a better 2002R to me. They're also slightly lighter and I'd say potentially more durable. The only downside is it can be harder to track down more colors for the 990v4, and they're always going to be more expensive. 990v6 are very comfortable, but I've actually found both 2002R and 990v4 more comfortable if on feet for a whole day as they are more firm which actually supports the feet better over a longer period of time in my experience.

I wore the v4 today. The 99X have a better support to the sides and a better foot bed, which I definitely prefer. My favorite 99X is the 993. Thanks for the insights on the V6, much appreciated 👍🏻

Cream laces is a good choice too might not bvon a par with made in uk-. U. S. A but I would imagine quality will still be good tho-yeah materials explanation probably is a bit questionable. 👍🤔

Someone I know is a tts 13 and he found them to be too snug, he got rid of them again. Someone else I know is fine with his tts. It's probably personal preference. You can always give it a shot

I also am a US 12.5 D in the 990v5, how does the 2002R fit in comparison in a size 13? That's awesome that the mesh is breathable! The 990v5 isn't breathable by a longshot 😅

I went with a 13 as there is no 12.5, the 12 would be too small. It has a little more room but I'm fine with it

They're probably wearable, I just know some people who went tts first and it's ok for them, but decided to go half up for their next one and others who sent theirs back to go half up. Wait until you get them and then see. Everyone's feet are different

Farfetch and many other sites pictures are very shitty and pathetic in the fact that they do not resemble anything as close as your IG pics and I hate that because it is so misleading. They're just 120cm that's why I have to put them into the upper lace hole like that without crossing the tongue, straight up into the next one. But it works and the color matches perfectly

The 2002r is softer than the v4 and v5 but v4 and v5 have more stability to the sides. If you like the 2002 the way it is you don't have to upgrade really

@@HighlyAkicktive i dont mind them but not as soft as boost or yeezy. Ive been going between a few models and trying to find the best everyday shoe and everyday standing work shoe. Over the course of 8-9hrs my heel hurts with these so it wont cut it for long days for me.

@@SamuelMonteiro16 afak orthopedics do not really recommend shoes that are too soft because it will fatigue the foot. Have you tried something that is a little more firm or gives more support in the foot bed?

Depends a little on your budget and/or what you prefer. 2002 is softer with less stability, V5 more stability and more premium feel

Not exactly. A little small, some people prefer going up a half size, but I also know people who prefer tts. Depends if you like a more snug fit or slightly more room

As much as I like the V3 I think I have to give it to the 2002R. Even if the V3 came in my size, I still think the 2002R is more comfortable. You're getting a lot of sneaker for the money. Thanks for checking out the video!

@@boydell_5664 in the 2002RC I'm wearing a US 13, but usually my NB size in Made in USA pairs is a 12.5. in Made in England a 13 fits fine, little more room that I don't mind

@@boydell_5664 .5 - .75 Inch is pretty much the range that I find to fit best as well. Anything below will make my feet feel claustrophobic and above too loose. I have rather slim to normal feet which gives me too much room all around when the shoe fits big. Looks a little lost
