As Jewish people we are often told not to read the New Testament, that it's not for us and that It's antisemitic and dangerous. But is it really?
Check out this fascinating interview with Dr. Golan Broshi where we discuss the truth about the New Testament and why Jewish people should read it.
Golan Broshi was born and raised in Kibbutz Malkia in Israel. He has a bachelor's degree in Education, Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Haifa and a master's degree in Jewish Education at the University of Jerusalem. He completed his doctoral degree in Biblical Studies and Theology at Dallas Theological Seminary and is currently a professor at Israel College of the Bible - One for Israel.
One For Israel: / oneforisrael
Rabbi Isaac Lichtenstein said this about the New Testament:
"I had thought the New Testament to be impure, a source of pride, of overweening selfishness, of hatred, of the worst kind of violence, but as I opened it, I felt myself peculiarly and wonderfully taken possession of. A sudden glory, a light, flashed through my soul. I looked for thorns and gathered roses; I discovered pearls instead of pebbles; instead of hatred, love; instead of vengeance, forgiveness; instead of bondage, freedom; instead of pride, humility; instead of enmity, conciliation; instead of death, life, salvation, resurrection, heavenly treasure."

What truth? LOL let me give you the real truth about Jesus: The New Testament is all about "mixing pagan doctrines and Jewish Bible concepts" Abraham's narrative had nothing to do with Jesus. That's your interpretation about Isaac being similar like Jesus as "atonement". It's absurd. Why do you think is the real reason? a sacrifice? NOPE. God is not a blood thristy creator. It's a matter of interpretation. The narrative story of Jesus as Christianity portrayed it is 100% similar like the pagan nations. See Below, My Jewish brothers and sisters, I have done my research about Christianity. IS THIS A COINCIDENCE????? FYI: Hinduism can claim the same thing with Budda. Needless to say, Horus deity from Egypt also has the same parallel with Jesus using the Jewish Bible narratives. Explain why Budda and Horus has the same parallel story like Jesus. People need to know other religions to know that Christianity has adopted pagan doctrines from the nations. What are the parallel story with Jesus with Horus and Budda? 1) They had 12 disciples 2) They performed miracles like walking in water, feed thousands, expel demons etc 3) They had 31/2 Ministry before they die 4) They died and resurrected in the third day 5) They resurrected the dead 6) They were called healers and shepherd 7) They were also called "Saviors" 8) They are expected to return to save Humanity. Horus and Budda are expected to return 9) They preached the gospel of peace and love 10) They also preached restoration through a reincarnation/resurrection of the soul not body 11) They preached about "blood human sacrifice" to atone for sins. 12) Horus was a Savior to save people who repented from the underworld/hell 13) Horus was a son of the Creator embedded in a trinity Godhead. Isis, Osiris As ONE God. Also called the "family triad as 3 in One" or trinity. Horus also called "divine child" like Jesus. 14) Horus and Budda were called the way, truth, and life 15) Horus will destroy death and bring life and will destroy his brother Seth (Satan) in battle 16) Horus depicted as a demigod in the flesh on earth like Jesus. 17) Horus received the Holy Spirit through baptism in water, in the Nile River. 18) Horus will defeat his brother (Seth as Satan) and become king after his death.

HalleluYah, amen! In the Tenach it foretells that Yeshua Ha'Massiach will be born, but if you really want to know the Messiach you will get to know Him in the New Testament. Sometimes in his conversations with the disciples, sometimes through the parables. He tells us how we can get connected to back to Elohim and how we can get back what we had lost through our sins. That's why it's so important to read the Brit Haddasha with the guidance of the ruach Ha'Kodesh, amen!

The New Testament is not anti-Semitic, but it does show that Jews persecuted Christians in the first century. What happened was that a Jew who was one of the main persecutors of Christians converted and became one of the main preachers who showed that Yeshua was indeed the Messiah.

So I have a question. I am a Christian and I have no Jewish background, teachings etc. My question is though - Do Jews read Daniel? If they do, doesn't Daniel 9 say the Messiah has to come before the destruction of the Temple? And doesn't give an exact time to when he would come? If so.......how do they explain that the Messiah didn't come, if they are still waiting today?

Hi! In my opinion, like the biblical times, the Jews are specting a someone with powerful man loved by everybody... they didn't expect someone who father was a carpenter. (John 1:9-12). They are going to accept the false messiah, an impostor... and then will come destruction to Israel when the jews find out that they were wrong... it will be very sad...

Something I said to a religious Jew to get him thinking was this ⤵️ If you think you won't find truth in reading the New Testament then why does your religion (Judaism/Rabbi's) keep you from touching or reading the book for yourself. If it is "true" what they say about it then why won't they let you read it for yourself so you can receive confirmation of what they are telling you to be "true"? I really hope and pray it provoked him to read the New Testament for himself and find truth and his Messiah. 🙏🏼 Something Jews should consider when it comes to the 🐜 • TI • s3mitism subject. ⤵️ "But if you let their evil behavior from keeping you from even considering if Jesus is the Messiah or not - you are giving them power from the grave over your thought process." - Rock Of Israel Don't let Satan win over your thought process. Great video 👍🏼💯

@@TorahisLifeandLight My question to you is have you read the New Testament for yourself? Because the New Testament ISN'T catholicism. Jesus kept the Law according to the Torah not Rabbinical Judaism. He keep the feasts and read in the synagogue every Sabbath if you would read the New Testament you would know this. The New Testament is NOT catholicism. Even the Apostle Paul kept the feasts of God and the Apostle Peter revealed he continue to eat clean animals what Rabbinical Judaism calls kosher. Even a mixed Jew who's mother was Jewish but father Greek went with the Apostle Paul to get circumcised. But you wouldn't know this if you didn't read the New Testament for yourself the New Testament has so much Jewish things in it that you won't find out until you read it yourself. So have you actually read it? If you haven't don't even continue to comment to me until you have read it.

I have a suggestion. Most people simply continue to do what they are accustomed to doing and continue to use the language (words) they are accustomed to using. In the case of evangelism, that is especially true for people who have experienced a measure of “success” using the methods and language to which they are accustomed. I would have expected Hebrews living in the modern political state of Israel to have realized this before. The phrase “new testament” was adopted as a way of referring to the Greek additions to the Bible by people who wanted their neighbors (in the Roman Empire but outside of Judea) to think of the faith of Jesus as an entirely new religion or/and as a replacement for the faith of the Hebrew patriarchs and prophets of antiquity. I was nearly forty before I was able to make sense of the references in Hebrews 8 with regard to the old and new covenants. (The words, “testament”, and, “covenant” are synonymous.) My understanding during the forty years since then has been that the old covenant/testament is a relationship with God based on what we do, what we intend to do or, more especially, what we promise to do. The prototype of the old covenant is what the Hebrews said at Sanai, “All that the Lord has said we will do and be obedient. The new covenant/testament is a relationship with God based on what he does - what he has done, what he is doing and what he has promised to do. The prototype of the new covenant is Genesis 3:15 (sometimes called the protoevangelium), “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” Jewish Virtual Library The new covenant has been available to members of the human race from the gates of Eden but the old covenant is called old and the new covenant is called new because the old covenant was ratified with the blood of animals at Sinai before the new covenant was ratified with the blood of the Messiah on Calvary. I’m not Hebew but it would seem to me that many (most) Hebrews would be less attracted to the faith of Jesus if or when people refer to the Greek additions to the Bible as “the new testament” than if the faith of Jesus is represented as the true continuation of the faith of Abraham, Isaac and Israel (Jacob). I once had opportunity to converse with a rabbi who questioned me on this very point. I’m just thinking aloud here but has anyone published what the Messiah taught but in a way that allows people to evaluate his teachings BEFORE being introduced to what the Gospel writers wrote about what he said? “Most people who think they have rejected God have really only rejected a caricature of him.” - Rich Hannon It seems likely that most Hebews who think they have rejected Jesus have really only rejected the way many professed Christians have misrepresented him and his teachings - entirely without realizing it.

Romans 11 The Remnant of Israel 11 I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah-how he appealed to God against Israel: 3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and torn down your altars; I am the only one left, and they are trying to kill me”? 4 And what was God’s answer to him? “I have reserved for myself seven thousand who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace. 6 And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace. 7 What then? What the people of Israel sought so earnestly they did not obtain. The elect among them did, but the others were hardened, 8 as it is written: “God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day.” 9 And David says: “May their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a retribution for them. 10 May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever.” Ingrafted Branches 11 Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. 12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring! 13 I am talking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I take pride in my ministry 14 in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them. 15 For if their rejection brought reconciliation to the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead? 16 If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches. 17 If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, 18 do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. 19 You will say then, “Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in.” 20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either. 22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off. 23 And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. 24 After all, if you were cut out of an olive tree that is wild by nature, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much more readily will these, the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree! All Israel Will Be Saved 25 I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, 26 and in this way all Israel will be saved. As it is written: “The deliverer will come from Zion; he will turn godlessness away from Jacob. 27 And this is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.” 28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, 29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable. 30 Just as you who were at one time disobedient to God have now received mercy as a result of their disobedience, 31 so they too have now become disobedient in order that they too may now[h] receive mercy as a result of God’s mercy to you. 32 For God has bound everyone over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.

Shalom, the only danger of the new treatment is not listening and obeying it. But it is to rejoice in and is only reaffirming the old testament. The Roman Catholic church came from Rome and didn't present Yehoshua's face of gentleness, love and being totally approachable . The Roman church was allowed so all Israel who saught Meshiach , could be one in Yehoshua. Like Yosef in Egypt, all this has happened to save all Israel. Both the rejection of Yehoshua from some Jews because they were veiled for the good of the rest, and all the rest were veiled for the good of Judah , so all Israel would be saved . Since truly following Yehoshua , people think I'm a Jew, following Judah, and I tell people, " I'm only following my Meshiach ", the only Good Shepherd. As God's Word says, " and they will take hold of the hand of a Jew", I have, Yehoshua Ha Meshiach and He leads me as He has always led His people. People don't like me following Him, yet Yehovah protects me, they tell me , " enjoy your day, Shabbat, I tell them all shabbats are about union with Yehoshua and are His shabbats for all His people Israel. People are scared of reading the Word of God, both Jew and gentile, yet what all of us find is God's everlasting love of such incredible mercy and grace ,full of loving kindness

One question, out of curiosity: So, if you as jews, can believe in Jesus as the true Meshiach and the new testament as the true messianic judaistic testimony following the tanakh, what would be my place as a gentile, a goy..? Would i be considered a proselyte? Aren`t you follwing the community of jacob and petrus, preaching the gospel amongst the jews in jerusalem? As opposed to Paulus and Stephanus preaching among the gentile world? If I believe in Yeshua ha meshiach, can i do so, as i am not jewish..? Or would it make me a jew, so to speak? I´d be so interested to hear your opinion! Thanks & blessings from germany!

Can you imagine how tormented the Catholic Church has been and is continually tormented but Jesus Christ said that His Church will prevail over all attacks. So Crusaiders and incuisition are not Jesus Christ. He is always the same the One and Only, Alpha and Omega, but He was tested Himself and the Church, that is His body, He is the Head, is heavilly tested. What difference does it make? You have a series of videos about your beliefs? That's nice. In other videos you are proselytizing. Fine. You can discuss Paul vs. Peter! Great! You have made your decisions about your beliefs. So have millions of Jews around the world and in my mind you're still pushing others to either convince them to change and question their beliefs . I have not seen any of them trying to convince you to change your beliefs. You don't seem to respect their beliefs! This is sad, but you will someday learn that most people are happy with their own belief system and are willing to let you go your own way! G-d gives everyone their own life and choice of beliefs. I did. This is what I discovered.

Why do you think antisemitism took place among Gentile nations and of all places, within the church? I suggest you dig into history and find out what each side was doing and saying. I'd dare say it was a response to the antichristian (anti-Messiah) attitudes and teachings found within Rabbinical Judaism in Gentile lands. Dig into History. Was it correct? No, but it was normal human response when someone hates your God (Jesus) and talks bad about your God (Jesus) in your house (land). Definitely the hosts should have been extra tolerant and accommodating.

how sad it is that Dr Golan Broshi talk so evil about the Rabbinic Judaism. if he continue it will create unnecessary tension that will lead to a clash between two groups in Israel and in the world around The Messianics and the Jewish people who faithfully keep the Torah. That instead of a serious dialogue there is a calm sharing of the different view on the same Bible : Tanach. There is not time for quick answers.

it's because Jesus did not fulfilled the messianic prophecies, Why was Jesus rejected by the Pharisees ? in Matthew 12:38--40, he told the Jews that his resurrection would be a sign to them that he was the messiah, yet he never ever went back and showed his face to them, The Gospel stories completely contradict themselves about the alleged Resurrection of Jesus, beside he failed the basic test, he had no connection to David, Joseph was not his biological Father, according to Matthew 1: 18-19, Joseph knew that he wasn't Jesus father, that is why he was minded to put her away secretly, Joseph Thought that Mary was unfaithful, The correct procedure for any Jewish man who suspected that his wife was unfaithful is laid out in the book of Numbers 5:11--31, instead of doing that, according to the law, Matthew fabricated the miraculous virgin birth, using the Greek Septuagint mistranslation of Isaiah chapter 7, in every Hebrew edition Isaiah chapter 7 : 14, says a young woman, sure in Christian edition it says virgin, but everyone know that isn't the case, the context of chapter 7 in Isaiah is not the coming Messiah, it's about the military attack on the kingdom of Judea by Israel and Aram/Rezin, The fulfillment of that prophecy to King Ahaz is in 2nd Kings chapters 15--16, And Jesus was never named or called Immanuel, and a virgin birth could never serve as a sign to reassure Ahaz who lived some 700 years earlier, how could a virgin birth function as a sign, because it can't be seen, A sign needs to be visible, not miraculous, 1st Samuel 2 :34, Jesus may be the Christian Messiah, but he is not the Jewish Messiah, The Jewish scripture never speaks about a second-coming for the real Messiah. any Jew who embrace any religion that wasn't revealed to his fathers, is ignoring Deuteronomy chapter 13.

Thank you for your detailed comment . You mentioned that Jesus didn’t fulfill messianic prophecies. Out of the many he fulfilled all you need is one to prove this statement inaccurate. Interesting you would start with one that is so easily proven wrong. You asked, why was Jesus rejected by the Pharisees? We’ll, why were all the prophets rejected? Why was Moses in fear of being stoned? The rejection of a prophet or the Messiah has no bearing on whether that one is a prophet or Messiah. Plus prophets and Jesus himself convicted the leaders of their sin which is hardly something people usually embrace. There is no contradiction in the resurrection in the different gospels. Only different accounts of the same event. Why didn’t Joseph follow the correct procedure regarding Miriam if she was suspected as being unfaithful unless he was indeed visited by the angel of the Lord in a dream and told to keep her as his wife? A young unmarried woman was a virgin. This was understood. This is why the Jewish people that translated the Septuagint translated young woman as virgin. The term ‘sign’ in the Tanach is synonymous with miracle. This is obvious when you do a word study. The question I ask you is - Did Jesus rise from the dead? If not, he isn’t the Gentile Christian Messiah or Savior of anyone. If he did, He is the Messiah and Savior of all. The Jewish people are notorious for not following and embracing the faith of their fathers. Therefore the need for repentance and faith in God. The Tanach is a narrative that contains laws, laws for a chosen but wayward people. It is not a law book. This is clear and obvious. I appreciate your comment but encourage you to make a more intellectual appeal instead of an emotional appeal. You don’t want Jesus to be Messiah which your arguments show. Please read the Tanach through a couple times and you will see it’s clear narrative that leads to the Messiah Jesus. The sacrificial system has been removed for over 2000 years. The laws that are found in the Tanach are tethered to the sacrificial system and structure that was destroyed in 70 AD. God provided the solution. It us up to us to accept or reject. I pray you are on the right side of history and God’s will.
