I’m convinced pep deliberately puts city a few points behind the leader early in the season so city players always have good motivation and something to strive for year in year out…

Or more realistically the players are drained from playing 70 games, having one week off, playing an international tournament, having a week off, going to preseason in some foreign country, rinse and repeat. They’re just tired in the beginning of the season and take awhile to kick into gear. Once March/April hit they’re in top form and other teams start fading.

Liverpool are worn out and possibly Arsenal now too. Even Rodri is saying he's struggling and needs a rest. Thing with MC is KDB and Haaland had long breaks with injury so haven't had the tough schedule others have. £100 million pound Grealish looks fresh having not started many. Liverpool lost all their players around the same time so it's only now the ones who had to play without much rest are looking done in. The ones returning from injury look off the pace. Arsenal just had one bad game off the back of a tough CL game, they'll be fine. It does make me laugh that Arsenal and Liverpool are getting a lot of stick today often from fans of clubs who have outspent them but are mid table. At least these clubs will be in the CL next season and at least one will end the season with a trophy.

i think the issue stems from the fact that, their fate to win the title is no longer in their own hands, it is in City's. while 2 points isnt a lot in general, but 2 points to catch Title Run In City, is veeery different. Remember, this set of Liverpool fans and players had experience losing the title TWICE by ONE POINT to City. Arsenal fans and player also had a similar experience last season where they capitulated under pressure from City's Run In form. City also historically under Pep usually have almost perfect Run In records when they are fighting a title.

You just have to be so perfect. If Arsenal won slk their remaining games as people thought we'd have to, it would been a run of 17-1-0 to end the season which is just mental. I think we let ourselves down a bit in the first half of the season, should have been maybe 5 pounts better off. Losing the game against Villa really isnt particularly bad or down to "choking", it just happens in the course of the season and we were due a loss. Didnt take advantage of the first half dominance and Villa matchup well against us. But the standard us so high. Like when you think about it, Arsenal and Liverpool are only 2 points behind City with 6 games left, and everyone is just saying "yeah the league is done". Whether or not that is true, it's just insane that we've been conditioned to think like that. City's cinsistency is just unbelievable. Even when it looks like they are in crisis, they never stray more than like 5 piints from the top. Always in striking distance when a chaklenger, inevitably, drops points somewhere. Only time they've lost the league in the ladt 5 years, Liverpool had 99 points, had the most unbelievable start imaginable, had a ton of plot armour voodoo on their side, AND City had a bit of a crisis with injuries at the back.

The fact we are even in a title race is a successful season to me. And the fact some Liverpool fans are actually questioning Klopp is ridiculous, his ability to change games with tactical tweaks and subs has won us so many games we probably shouldn't have. The amount of chances we are missing game after game is extremely frustrating though.

Personally, I do think the title is City’s now but both Arsenal and Liverpool deserve massive credit 1 loss in 2024 for Arsenal after a terrible December and a Liverpool side with key players missing here and there “without a DM” and Klopps last year both teams have been excellent for me they’re both a top 5 teams in Europe this year (from an arenas fan). In Arsenal’s case the reaction from fans has been somewhat excessive turning on out teams over one result, what did people expect Arsenal to go on a 18 game win streak from January. But I do think both teams should be proud after this year title or not but it’s not over. COYG.

There is no way that Liverpool should be so high in the table. They have massively overachieved so far this season with an almost entirely new midfield! Only mad people, fools and diehard Scousers actually believed that Liverpool would be Premier League title contenders. Liverpool had a couple of serious injuries earlier in the season and played a makeshift defence for five months. 🤔 Klopp has been literally forced to play 'kids' just to get fit teams out onto the pitch every three days. The Liverpool team have been literally hanging on for half of the season, in complete contrast to the way City have played. Losing their goalkeeper who is statistically off the charts and the No.1 goalkeeper in the World has made them even more vulnerable to the counterattack. The injury to Jota finally killed off their chances as he has consistently been the best finisher at the club. Those small half chances that Jota laps up are the marginal differences that are hugely significant in elite Sport. Really good analysis from The Athletic. Obviously, the draw with Man Utd (who were utterly woeful) was both emotionally and psychologically draining. However, none of this recent decline was unpredictable or surprising.

@@JamesLawrenceAllcott I thought it was really good vid. Enjoy the analysis on this channel becasue you're very fair. I was just adding an observation from the weekends coverage 👍 My main issue as a football fan is that when an unfancied team wins a match, it's usually because the 'big team' has underperformed or missed a host of chances. It creates an illusion of these top teams being untouchable, and a wider gap in ability than there actually is. People really do believe what they hear and read. You've got Adam Goldstein on Talk Radio going on about how Emery would drop Villa for Man Utd 'or another big club' without hesitation...and we're in 4th place and unbeaten in London this season 😆. Not only is this view used to protect the status quo, (as are similar ones for other clubs) it's then cut and pasted into several dozen other articles and becomes the narrative. One final thing - Sky interviewed Martinez and Watkins straight after the match...to ask several questions about Arsenal 😆 Thanks for reading and keep up the good work.

City fans don't put ridiculous pressure on their team because they're not (yet) spoilt brats who think their team has a divine right to win everything (which is what happens when 90% of your fanbase only picked the team because they were one of the best when they first got into football, as is the case with Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd). They also trust their team to actually do the business and don't catastrophize every setback. Tell the full story as well. Liverpool would STILL be 4 points clear of city if officiating was not corrupt. We need to hold these officials accountable as fans don't just ignore it

I mean, that's not how it works tho eh. 1) all other teams feel they have had referees cost them points this season 2) all Liverpool had to do was beat Palace at home to still be top, it's the situation that defeated them at the weekend

More about the massive squad depth City has. At the end of the day City wins because they spent the most money.

You can't even make a 2nd XI with City's players. With Liverpool and Arsenal you would be choosing who to leave out for the third team.

If you think Arsenals and Liverpools squad is better than this then you´re either dreaming or pretending.

This whole need to be perfect narrative is so stupid. Arsenal could have pushed for a winner against city but instead they took the draw, they could have controlled their own destiny. Ultimately being too scared to risk losing to win was just as hurtful a result as losing to villa

As Liverpool fans, I always funny seeing Arsenal fans hoping that City dropping points.. believe me, they won't.. it's the hope that kills..

Let's get real here. It was easy for City to apply pressure - they were playing a team in the relegation zone and Arsenal were playing a team two places below them that had already beaten them this season. Let's not over think this.

You know why City had an 'easier' fixture this weekend or in the run in to come? They've already played the harder matches 😅 all teams play the same matches by the end eh

@@fpldirectory6753 Of course I realise that - I'm just talking about this weekend, when many commentators and fans started saying, see I told you so - it was always going to be City; on the basis of one poor half of football.

City smashed the same team 4-1, completely dominating them. Arsenal and the coach are just not good enough. I'm an Arsenal fan btw but I've given up hope of winning a major trophy with Arteta at the helm.
