Not worth it

I've somewhat come around on this topic since I wrote a pretty negative comment about this shop on Reddit. I now think that - objectively - it is a decent enough options for people who get enough tickets to grab everything except the parallax card styles (since those have always sucked and are pure filler anyway). However, I stand by my original opinion of this kind of "pay to earn"-model feeling terrible and scummy. It just doesn't feel good to have these tickets dangled in front of you like a carror on a stick to entice you to spend way too many gems for the priviledge of spending said tickets on a couple of packs and cosmetics.

The mastery pass gives you back 1200 gems so it really costs 2200, which in theory you can get with 7 wins in your free draft and if you do not the token is worth 700 gems for all the packs and cards is worth it. This costs 2800 so with the token is worth 1300 for only 8 packs and some mythics so I don't think is worth it.

Completely pointless, no way I'm spending the price of a mastery pass (it's actually more expensive than the mastery pass)

I think your opinion that it's wrong to be annoyed - is wrong. It's good to oppose things that are manipulative.

I know this is a month old, but the only thing appealing about this are the avatars, and that's it. One day, pretty much everything available for a limited time in the hideaway will eventually be available again in the store's daily deals. Save your gold/ gems for Bloomburrow, Duskmourn, and Foundations.

Don’t like it at all. Feels like a total rip off due to the gems you need to pay to unlock the gates of greedy town. For bloody cosmetics. Keep it. May it leave and never come back.

Good analysis, keep up the good work ! One small correction, though: The MH3 packs should still give wildcard progress, so opening them would not be entirely worthless for a Standard-only player. Still, obviously, not worth getting this pass for, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

In comparison to the mastery pass, this is a horrible deal. Even looking at this in a vacuum, it's not really all that good unless you are going to play these cards, which I probably won't. Hopefully they don't do this again or at least be as generous as the mastery pass if they do.

I don't usually play Historic, Historic Brawl and Timeless, so I think it's a bad deal for me.

Wotc tests things out before actual rollout. This is possibly the new mastery pass. Not a scam. But not for your average free to play player. Dont let them divert your resources from your plan.

I save my gems to by the normal Mastery Pass for each set... I rarely have many extra's and never have to buy gems. As a standard player MH3 holds little interest and even less value for me. Almost certainly will not buy this! Cheers!

So the other part of the value equation is the delay, I consider the normal mastery pass just decent on value not spectacular because you will have to play for a long time until you have the XP for it to come out ahead of just buying packs and until it comes out ahead that entire time if there are a lot of cards in that set you want for your decks you are having to make more careful decisions and compromises. I do like that this new pass lets you choose the order of rewards but still having a significant delay on rewards on top of now only barely net positive value makes it very questionable. I guess I would suggest if you play formats that want those cards wait to unlock until you have enough tickets for all the mythics and packs and then decide if you still need enough at that time for it to be worthwhile. I do think this is a terrible way to encourage more people to try more formats though, should be trying to make non-standard deals more valuable not less if you want people to try them out.

I love it, except being punished with no quests when it came on. A draft is 1500 so 1300 gems for 8 mythic and packs and cosmetics is fine. Its a powerful set.

I bought it It's kinda worth it like 2800 - 1500 so it's value is 1300 gems Packs is 85 Mythic is 70 So all in all it's actually pretty good

I would say that avatars are quite rare. You get some functionnal rewards, but this "mastery tree" focuses more on skins. As a new player, I appreciate it because y'all old players already have a bunch of those and I need them too xD

Just wish Modern Horizons 3 was playable in more events.

I just think of it as a battle pass for people who don't want to play standard. I think people are making a bigger deal of it than it is. It's just letting you know you're earning progress towards it in case you want to buy it at some point later. Honestly we should be making a fuss over that $.99 thing that companies do to get people to buy stuff over this

For me, I don't think it's worth it. I play a lot of standard and not much of the other formats. MH3 is kind of a blank for me.

It'd be more worth it if there was a format on arena where you could play with the cards without dealing with fake cards. Wotc is throwing money away by not offering modern lite.

If their goal is to get me to stop playing standard and start to play modern, this isn't the way to do it. I'm farming max tickets a day, but highly unlikely that I will waste 2800 gems on the hideaway. I bought the $25 pack with 4 rare / 4 mythic wildcards. That should have had enough gems to unlock the Frog Hideaway.

I'd heavily recommend waiting until you actually have enough tickets to get what you want out of this, as with other mastery passes of course. Good point on getting the mythic card rewards first if you buy this though.

i bought it in my secondary account without knowing what will be inside, as it is now i think i will not get my gems worth for it as i do not care for modern horizons, or cosmetics. I am keeping my fingers crossed to open some cards, that will be standart legal someday, or get some wildcards from oppening the packs.

50 days with 60 tickets daily, that makes 3000 tickets, that is enough for all game relevant rewards and a ton of cosmetics. If you care about Modern Horizon, I would say it is worth it (I do not).

8:10 The reason there is a risk of "wasted value" is that when opening packs, any rares and mythics have duplicate protection (if you have 4 copies, they are re-rolled to the same rarity) individual cards claimed do not have duplicate protection and so there is a risk of getting 20/40 gems. At the start of a set, I like to do a few drafts, draft/craft any must have cards, and only then buy and open packs with the duplicate protection.

I bought the hideaway thinking that I'd get a draft token every 4 or 5 days, assuming I played regularly. Buy the first one, and it reveals that it's a 1-time purchase. So you're paying double for one draft, and then there is nothing else of value.

Think the idea is ok and great if you like to collect avatars and alt art. Steer clear if you want functional value. For the longer term health of Arena, I think they need to find ways to monetize it better. For me, its a super cheap way to play Standard MTG. I have bought one mastery pass ever, i currently have 11k gems and 85k gold and any deck i want to play in Standard. Would be happy to pay a small monthly sub for example, if i got something worthwhile.

Why i have to forget the free section of the Mastery pass?? The free section give you something, the Frog shop do not. This "alternative Mastery pass" is only made to push f2p players spend real money, this is a simply marketing operation that work on loss sensation cuz the "offer" expire soon and bring mtga to a more p2w game

Psychic frog should be free. Other digital versions of tcgs like YuGiOh or pokemon treat their players way better. Its all practically free, cus the cards arent even real. I understand the BP but some of the stuff is just so sleezy.
