I decided to build a high end PC for myself this year, went with a 13900k 4090. Finally joined iRacing, bought a Fanatec DD Pro, I raced at Talladega last night in VR on the Quest 2 against the AI in the 2001 Winston Cup paint schemes. With a 4090 I can crank everything to max and run at 90HZ in the Quest, haven't tried 120 yet. All I can say is.......WOW, definitely one of the craziest gaming experiences I've had. Hearing the Crew Chief audio in the headset along with the roaring engines while racing bumper to bumper against all those iconic cars/drivers pushing 200 MPH in VR is just crazy, highly recommend it if you can do it.

Great video mate. Here's my input on the headsets you listed, as I've owned them all, but now just have a Quest 2. Okay, here we go. Rift S, brilliant, but the screen door really makes it feel dated. Amazing comfort, and no compression, but we need a quality PC only VR replacement, but that's not coming from Meta at the moment. The G2 Version 2 is the Reverb anybody would want, as it's just better all round with some extras, including improved hand tracking, but like you say, as a sim racing that's not important anyway. With an OpenXR set up the G2 is visually stunning, but only within a small sweet spot. The outer edges of the sweet spot get rapidly blurred. If you're looking right at something, perfect, but look around without moving your head, and it all looks a bit like Minecraft. Also, Windows Mixed Reality will stall your PC, and misbehave, it's a dog. The G2 is very comfy, light, and for sim racing, as you're mainly focusing on one fixed spot in front of you anyway, it's not a problem, but the small fov and sweet spot for me were deal breakers. I recently owned a Pico 4, and what most KZfaqrs don't tell you is, the ghosting across the lenses is terrible. Its there from the moment you enter the home environment, and it's something you either accept, or have to give up on. Its called Mura, and it's like a smudge of light around bright objects on a dark background. I'd rather have the godrays from the Quest 2. Its also quite poor build quality, and for PCVR too demanding. To get any performance close to the G2 with a Pico 4 you will need a 4090, due to all the compression. Whereas the G2 can perform amazing with a 2080. Don't bother with the Pico 4 is my advice, terrible lenses, poor build quality, noisy fan, too demanding for PCVR, compression, and not comfortable. The Meta Quest Pro, this has absolutely amazing lenses. They blew my mind. However, for anything outside of all in one VR, it's not worth considering as a PCVR device. Same Quest 2 compression, but on a £1000 headset. It looks no better for sim racing, for Alyx and other titles it looks stunning, and the controllers are the best, but if you're a sim racing wait for the next big PCVR headset with pancake lenses, wide fov, and none demanding software to run your Steam titles. The QPro is not designed for sim racing, even though it has the best pancake lenses I've ever seen, they seem to make the compression you get on the Quest 2 amplified and worse. I am resigned to the fact at the moment, and immediate future, no top spec PCVR headset exists at a consumer price point. Its a huge gap in the market. We need pancake lenses to the QPro standard, clear, vibrant, no godrays or ghosting, a display port connection, not all in one bollox, just like the Rift S straight into the PC, 120hz native resolution, wide fov from 120 degrees, and I don't mind a cable if sim racing, but make it long so I can feed it above me to drop down. Decent controllers and standard features to make our lives easier accessing our Stream library or iRacing, just as standard. Also, comfortable enough to wear for hours, and does not need charging. The best PCVR headset on the market now is three years old from Valve. What happened. That said, I have some amazing tweaks and settings with my Quest 2 while I want for the next big PCVR Headset. One day PCVR will be there, it's close, but need to make a final leap forward.
