I fell back on a 7950 after I sold my GTX970 when it came out. Used the 7950 Overclocked to 1040mhz core for a long time, what a fantastic card. You can get RTX 2060s for about $275 now so if you were still looking to upgrade, that's the way to go.

I bougt one from a guy 2 years ago for 100€ first i saw his two HD7870 2GB cards but when i saw the HD7950 3GB for the same price i totaly went for it in a sec. and never regret it i overclocked my GPU Clock: 1040MHz | Memory Clock: 1420 MHz | Power Control: +8% how can the base for the 7950 GPU in your video be so low 810 my base is 930MHz?

I had one from 2014 and now it went bad...I used to clean it but you have to take it out every 6 month for a deeper cleaning. I was lazy for that and it died. Was a bit too thick and was hanging downwards, ruining the slot. No more darn thick cards for me. It's a bit pity because I could play all the Crysis games in high settings.

I know it is an old post, but you can get sag brackets for gpus or make something to hold a heavy gpu from sagging

Well just played far cry 5 @ 1920x1200 on such card so while old now, its not totally crap even in 2018.

Just think it has been awesome for like... 6 years and then become NORMAL, that's awesome for me at least, hands down

Yup, had mine for six years, now. Easily the longest I've had a card. Microsoft refusing to make a desktop version of windows, since 7 and stuffing 10 full of spyware has essentially stopped me from needing to upgrade. Unfortunately, until the majority of gamers get off W7 or MS break down and actually put direct x 11/12 on w7, or make a proper OS that isn't utterly shit for gamers, the mexican stand-off in the hardware industry will continue.

Get the Windows 10 ltsb version. It's like win 7 but with optimisation for newer hardware. It's without the Windows store and all the spyware

How can you not overclock the 7950? I've had one since release and mined on it back during the first mining craze. I bios flashed it to a 24/7 core clock of 1100 mhz and memory 1500 mhz. I've had 5 HD7950 and the lowest core overclock was 1130 and the largest was 1175. Put 1000-1100 mhz on the core and redo the tests.

Back in 2008 during the first mining craze the HD7950 was one of the best cards. Only better was 7970/280x or R290

Well 2012, whenever the first boom saw bitcoin at $1200+, When the R290 was first released as OEM (before the aftermarket coolers were available).

Can someone tell me what kind of power supply I would need to use this card. 300w 400 w 500w. My buddy just gave me one and I am thinking the 300 watt supply I have won't do

Hi bigelow , it's not watts but amperes that you need . 30 amps @12 volts (or higher) do the trick . My Corsair 400 CX ,400watt P.S. delivers that and never fails to supply my R9 280 X o.c.

@@zissler762 I geus not but maybe it depends on the power supply.Total amount ( and amount per rail) is noticed on the sticker on the powersuply .it's best to split the pci-e- powerinputs of your video cart over two rails if you got them. My corsair 400 w/ 32 amps only has one dedicated so I had to split it up to feed my powercolour r9 280 royal king. Runs fine though.

the card's TDP is 200 watts. simple maths, if you have a 95w TDP processor that's 295 watts, plus about 50 for motherboard and ram, an additional 50 for the rest, that's about 390-400 watts. I would recommend you get a 450w PSU (a good quality one).
