Is the Revopoint Range scanner just a toy ? Or does it have actual practical applications..?
In this video I try to turn my friend Aaron into a Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game Proxy Model using the Revopoint Range 3D scanner and printing him out! Is 3D printed MESBG now possible?

Yeah, its a great scanner ... Just needs practice. Low detail stuff seems to work really nicely !

So awesome 😁 Scanning and making your own STL's looks like a lot of fun, just think of the possibilities! You could make an army of Po-Tay-Toes

hahaha To be fair it would probably pick up potatoes really well!! 😂 Maybe I will scan a potatoe and put it in the discord as a free STL file :D

There is this "3D scanning spray" you can get that supposedly lets you scan dark or reflective objects. Costs a fortune, though, and no idea if can be cleaned off properly or what, but may be worth looking into. I hoped to see a proper mini of your friend, but the tech is still developing.

Interesting! Seeing where this tech is an a couple of years should be mind blowing. I do wonder if the armour made in white, specifically for scanning would make much of difference. If that worked making a fully customised army shouldn't be too difficult, just time consuming to begin with.

Exactly! I have already done some more experiments... have kind of turned my Dad in to Gandalf. Will share some pics in the Discord later ;)

Looks cool, but for $800 you would think you would get a scanner that could do the whole armor. Maybe your lighting is an issue? I don't know.

Oh yeah... I have no doubt this is a grewat scanner, definitely lighting and also the fact that we had time constraints. I will experiment more for sure and see what I can come up with!
