I ended up going with S50 due to higher magnification and quality image. With the S50 I can use mosaic to get larger area, but I can't solve the Dwarf low quality image due to its limited magnification and tiny aperture. I would be nice to have these smart scopes with larger aperture and removable lenses allowing the users to buy lenses and filters for different situation.

The S50 has better optics and app, but the D2 is a nice portable and versatile scope. The new D2 app will surely make it even better to use.

Ioan has been testing out the beta on Android and is quite impressed with the improvements, they are still improving the beta on iOS (what I'm testing) and they have added a lot of improvements, particularily unlocking the 4K (no binning) which makes its a really high resolution imaging device.

Also the field of view of D2 is great for Andromeda galaxy, flame nebula with horsehead nebula together, Orion Nebula and Running Man nebula together. SeeStar field of view is too small of field of view for a 50mm telescope. But the price is amazing for SeeStar. Hopefully they will make a SeeStar pro with deep sky camera and not a planetary camera. The small field of view is made even smaller when you have field rotation due to Alt/Az mount. At least the field rotation can be eliminated on the D2 by polar alignment on a tripod. The SeeStar requires the device to be horizontal aligned or software will fail initialization.

I decided on the Dwarf2 because I can travel with it easily. I also like that it has a wide field of view. the new software looks like it will address some of the limitations of this type of telescope. If I want higher quality deep sky but still want portability, I would save up for the vespera pro. but the seestar was impressive for the cost.

Hey guys I have a celestron nexstar gps 11. I was looking at the seestar or the vaois vespera. Which would you go with? The filters you have to buy separate for vespera are kind of expensive but I heard there filters are better than the seestar.

Hi , I would like to know for the next total solar eclipse in Mexico, if it is possible to make a two-hour recording with the Dwarf or Seestar or if you have to use time lapse ? How much is the maximum video duration for them ? Thanks
@GalaxyArtMedia
@GalaxyArtMedia 6 ай бұрын
Hello. The duration limit will probably be the memory card..be sure you clear.thendata on the seestar before starting. Seestar currently has better tracking and would be a better choice for a long timelapse. But i have not tested yet solar tracking on the dwarf 2 after the new updates. Might be good as well for.the next solar eclipse. Will make an update video when i will be able to test

How do these two work in cold weather? Do they work in sub zero temperatures? What about condensation?
@EmberSkyMedia
@EmberSkyMedia 7 ай бұрын
Hi @ravzir, I've tested the Dwarf II down to -27C ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e85xo7OJy9y5mYk.html ) and both units have dew heaters to avoid condensation. However the colder you go and using the dew heaters installed will reduce their operating time (unless they are plugged in) and I'll be testing the Seestar S50 in colder weather as winter moves in (currently I've tested -5C so far).

So, there is no possibility of polar aligning the Seestar 50 at present? And is it due mainly to the software requiring the scope to be level? Certainly it can physically polar aligned like the dwarf.
@GalaxyArtMedia
@GalaxyArtMedia 4 ай бұрын
Unfortunately Seestar does not support equatorial mode and it wont work good if you try to polar align. It needs to be leveled with the ground and in equatorial mode it will not be anymore

The D2 has a 8 Megapixel vs the S50 with a 2 Megapixel, How does this affect thing in Astrophotography? Does that not give the D2 a lot more zoom/crop on the image?
@GalaxyArtMedia
@GalaxyArtMedia 7 ай бұрын
Hello. If the pixels would be the same size then having more pixels means larger sensor and larger field of view and less pixels will be smaller sensor and a cropped zoomed view. Dwarf will give a fov equivalent with a full frame dslr at about 675mm. And the seestar i think about 1500 mm without cropping the image

Hi @Yoda1DaBestest ! I think for video and timelapse captures you will get the best quality with the Seestar S50. I just tested tonight the timelapse video mode of the sun but on the moon and tracks very well, at the moment better then the dwarf2. The only disadvantage with the seestar is that is harder to find the sun compared with the dwarf. Hope this helps to decide, and if you want to support the channel you can use one of the affiliate the links in the video description

Hello and thank you for the appreciation. Dwarflab also made some new improvements that I suggested in the last update: different names for astro fits so you can stack images from multiple nights without having to rename them and also correct white balance for lunar livestack. Will share soon more of my results with the dwarf 2 on the channel membership along with other telescopes data. Wish you clear sky and a nice time imaging with the Dwarf 2

With Seestar solar filter its so easy to put your finger through it. Thats that happened to me. trouble is any pushfit filter holder will not be 50mm, as the aperture is only the same size as the lens 50mm, and a push fir filter will not be 50mm aperture, so reducing performance slightly. The should have a screw thread, so you could just screw in filters
@GalaxyArtMedia
@GalaxyArtMedia 7 ай бұрын
Yes a screw thread would have been much better. Slightly will reduce the aperture i guess with 2mm if you will use filters in front.

@MrAbletospeak Yes, a completely different sky was visible, bright and light from a billion stars. It was a long time ago, then we explained it with special binocular lenses, but time passed and more, we didn’t see it no matter how much we looked. Obviously this is a coincidence of circumstances or someone just showed us it as it is. But we know it's possible

Unless you’re doing serious research with them, they are toys. The seestar has its place, as has been proven to be a wonderful teaching tool. Hey! Doesn’t that make it a tool and not a toy?
