Is the Stihl MS500i The World's First Fuel Injected Chainsaw? I don't think so! 1958 Jonsered XD

The Jonsered XD was brought to market in 1958 and was available for sale until 1962. It has a rudimentary fuel injection system on it.
Early in the years of chainsaws many manufacturers were looking for the best was to get an all position carburetor. This was Jonsereds take on it!

Elfving sold Jonsered under brand name "Raket" here in Finland. Later when Elfvin switched from Jonsered to Stihls they were branded "Stihl-Raket" so it was like a soft landing to get Stihl going because loggers here were very fond of "Raket" chainsaws. Even my Jonsered 630 had originally "Raket" sticker on starter.

@@TraverseCreekInc late comment. Those Jonsereds XD:s were also made as forest clearing saw or should i say brush cutter because some people call them that.

I had an 85' Audi 5 cylinder with" fuel injection " , if thats what you want to call it ? Being the first is not the same as being good.

I'm with you! I've been playing around with this guy for a few days trying to get it right and I can't get there. There's something to be said for the XD being injected in the context of the times it was produced, but the MS500i is clearly the better saw of the two. Should be, there is 60 + years of engineering and manufacturing progress built right into the 500i. All the manufacturers at the time this was made were throwing stuff at the wall to see what stuck. Obviously this fuel system design got scratched in favor of the diaphragm carb. A neat relic, though. Tell me about the Audi, you've got my interest.

So if I understand you that injection system is pressure operation system where the new Stihl is electronic operating system . I don't like anything that's operating on electronics ran by a computer on a dinosaur juice operating engine . Give me a carb or a manual injection pump/ system .
