Yeah that last bit with the pinball test is actually super important, you should have measured the imput lag latency because anything above 30ms is a pain in most modern games and there it sounds like it's way more if you can notice it on pinball that easily.. from experience toptro do get high 50+ ms latency on most of their projector models but I would have been very interested in knowing this model's latency specifically. If plugged into a pc there are tons of great tools and easy ways to measure input latency. I would definetly recommend adding that metric in future tests for any displays 😊

These new projectors are slick. I gave away my old Epson that would not die, great 1080p picture but lacked these sort of features such as size, price and apps makes for a cool product. I especially appreciate the autofocus, auto key stoning. The only niggle would be the low brightness but for this sort of money it looks like a real winner!

Honestly i didn't have to get it too dark to see the screen well but for capturing it on video i did turn most of my lights off

@@MichaelBtheGameGenie Yea my brightness comment was more towards that rated brightness, which isn't terrible just alot lower than I experienced in the past, but my project cost 1k 10 years ago, these are great for the price and I agree it looked plenty bright here and all the extra features are amazing, no need to have a pc to run netflix, ect!

This is exactly why I subscribed to your channel. You give an honest assessment of stuff like this whether it’s a new cab, a projector, whatever. The good, the bad, the meh, everything. I appreciate your honesty and I’m sure others here do too. Getting into the home arcade space is expensive enough without getting lemons. Keep up the good work man.

This sounds like a paid review where you're not giving the full story. The Toptro X7 uses ancient Android 9 (2018), so there are reviews saying users can't update many apps because the latest updates require a new version of Android. Additionally, some popular streaming apps won't function until they've been updated. So essentially they don't work since the update can't be installed. The operating system is also just "Android" and not "Android TV"/"Google TV", so it's not made for easy TV use: As a result, some apps (like Netflix apparently) require you to switch to a 'mouse mode' and control the mouse cursor using arrow buttons on the remote. Very clunky. You also noticed input lag when playing a game and had to adjust your playing to compensate, but later said at the end of the video that you "didn't notice any latency or lag"? Another commenter on this video said most Toptro projectors do have noticeable lag. So it sounds like this is another issue you were trying to downplay. Most of these problems (besides input lag) should be solvable by plugging in a "Chromecast with Google TV" and using that easy interface instead. And of course, the Chromecast always has the latest app versions available, so would seemingly make this projector a great deal when used together. However, some people don't want to plug extra devices in, so not telling your own viewers about the OS and app problems (but still saying how they can access all their streaming apps) is real slimy.

Toptro makes cheap projectors I had the tr23 it was ok I’m sure this is a bit better but you really need to spent more if you want something decent.

Thanks for the review. When it comes to refresh rates, it would be nice to see how the X7 stacks up against other projectors. According to Amazon, the specs say it has a refresh rate of 120Hz. It would be nice to see if there is a difference with a projector with a lower refresh rate. Most of them are 60 Hz.

Picked this up recently and I noticed that it all works fine until I get on the Netflix app and signed in, then the controller just stop working while on the app. Anyone else notice this??

Yeah you have too push the Netflix button on the remote to scroll an inconvenience but okay. 💯

I honestly never really tried with full lights on. With my lights strips and various wall lights on it still looked pretty good but wouldn’t have shown up as well on Camera
