This thing's massive AP round is meme worthy for the amount of silly overmatching it does because you're firing it out of a mobile five story building into people's heads.

This battle was a 1 in a thousand. Most battles won’t go this well in a type 5.

I got a Type 4 right before WG announced they were going to ruin HE lol.

Yeah works great when the enemy lets you sit behind them and shoot them in the ass. After 2 nerfs I want all the credits I spent grinding up to this tank.

I played my Type 5 after the update, bounced AP twice, switched to HE and did sub 100 dmg, then switched to APCR and bounced once before returning to AP and doing sub 300 dmg. At end of battle I sold my Type 5.

As my first tier 10 with a female commander and each crew having multiple skills trained, yes ienjoyed playing the tank, i grinded this tank because of its gun back then with that big HE rounds it fires, now that its gone, i gradually lost interest

It's been dead for years, went from a bad Maus to P2W nonsense to a bad Maus

Derp is basically dead after HE changes, too unpredictable and highly dependant on mm against weakly armoured tanks, derp tanks are pretty much useless now

I rarely see type 5 heavy in battle these days. I actually stopped the Japanese heavy grind with the O-Ho, I played that one a lot. But right before I was going to get the type 4, they nerfed them hard. And now with the HE re-work, there seems to be no point at all. I should submit a refund for my KV-2(R) since you can only use the 152 on that tank.

Still my biggest issues with these HE nerfs is around some of those Tier 7 through Tier 9 grinds on stock tanks when you have yet to unlock the top gun. You used to be able to do some damage to those higher tiers heavies with a stock gun by loading HE on hull downs. Just see once again this is a change that main impacts the F2P or newer player group dramatically more than paying customers. Still think there could have been a better answer than an HE nerf. If SPG's were the issue then just limit the number in higher tiers.

I was really more concerned about what the HE nerfs would do to the classic KV-2 and the SU-152.

So....for 85% of the player base...we'll ONLY be using armor piercing. I mean, first 6k for a shot. Add in 6 secs for Intuition, and Then knowing where to attack 600 + kinds of tanks? Yeah, right

I quit playing because every tank I loved playing was nerfed into oblivion, and HE nerf was last straw. And I was a tank collector, I have almost every premium tank that was available up to 2 years ago. I spent a ridiculous amount of money on this game, but with all the changes and nerfs I won't give them another dime.

Type 5 heavy need 400mm on turret armor and 500mm of hull armor to be competitive without changing the gun stadistic.

My dad got me into the game a good 7 years ago when I was a kid, and he loves his M4 Sherman. Sadly as he was debating getting back into the game they killed his favorite tank. Why wargaming. Why.

Just give Type 4 and Type 5 heavies 340mm HEAT already, like come on... Also pre HE changes this 1:50 would do at least 200dmg, no joke

I have never seen a type 5 have this good of a game in years, for quickybaby's skill level and the chance one in a hundred to attack from behind sure it's competitive, now try this tank in prokorovka with 3 arties and see what happens...

I don't know QB. I saw this video and excitedly jumped in my 5 skill crew Type 5 heavy, launched into battle, lined up my shots and fired 16 AP rounds... no pens and no damage.

This is just Wargaming finding a way to sque the in game economy to make people buy more in game currency.

Armor creep is the reason for the previous HE meta... tanks used to have weakspots (cheeks of the Maus/E100 turret, E5 cupola, etc) but now you've got to pixel snipe vision ports with gold ammo in order to pen. Small wonder folks resorted to firing HE in order to decrease their exposure time.

So after the HE nerf every type5 is forced to shoot gold ammo? Changes are working as intended for WG

Does that mean that other vehicles that rely on their HE rounds are going to feel the same pain? Like the KV-2, the SU-152 and all of the other vehicles that work well with their Derp guns?

Buff the tank by removing the hull cheeks. That would enable you to actually use the armor, which is the main strength of the tank. Right now the enemy just loads premium ammo and will go through every single time.

You should do a mini-series of the forgotten tanks. Maybe the AMX-30?

Well I never got to the tier 10. I sold type 4 heavy even before the HE-ammo update because how horrible the tank was. I can just imagine what it would be like to now go on the grind.

Ya. Just flank with the type 5 heavy and shoot them from behind. That will work well in the 4 minute games we so so much now. I have not even seen one of those lately in a battle.

Funny intro and dont forget about kv-2 poor kv cant use HE effectively now :/ Also there is no new round for kv-2 :( at least they could buff pen on AP or something ...

I don't know about the Type 5, QB. I'm just here to comment that World of Tanks creators (Wargaming) have killed my admiration and trust in their game. I stopped playing it just a month ago due to the fact of the news about Crew 2.0. I've known shit about it, but it's expected that Wargaming are going to literally install that kind of mess in their messed-up game now.

i've made mine into a literal wall instead of focusing on Damage. i have really good spotting range, can spot things easier in bushes for some reason and i take little to no damage from Artillery shells it has made me into a scout wall. i have done more support damage in 5 battles then i have done normal damage with the thing in total!

Hey QB continue doing more intros like this pls!!!! They are very entertaining to watch how you prep yourself for the video haha, all the little steps before recording the video. Of course, it's methodically funny becuase many people, including me, do some things when they sit in their chairs or sofas (shaking to search the perfect spot, always drink something, etc.)

The reason it didnt show the resupply of gold rounds is you had some in your inventory that you replaced with the new AP rounds

yep...bought a M53/M55 recently...with that stock gun...im horrified, its so difficult to grind when u shoot a HE at target and cause like only 50-200+ dmg....

KV-2 & M4 Sherman been nerfed by the HE changes too. At higher tiers, it's practically impossible to dig out those Soviet tanks when they're hull down.

When u grind all the way to tier 8 to find out the top two tanks are pretty much dead in the game

Can I get some opinions? Is it worth buying premium time and a bourasque to play game 30min to an hour a day 5 days a week for a little fun and slight competition? There to many op tanks or mm trash? Etc played wot pc and console for a few years but took a long break and only hear negative things about it now. Surprisingly there is alot of teamwork at t3 and 4 so I might durp around t5 or 6 for fun if the teamwork sucks at higher tiers

I just fought one of these things in my is3, even with premium rounds I couldn't pen its cupola or lower plate or anything. What are you supposed to do against it?

It's hurt the playability of the Sturer Emil as well. It has a small number of rounds, long reload, long aim time, poor accuracy, and high damage. Now if you touch a track with a shell you get "armor not hit" AND you somehow don't even track the vehicle :/. A 12.5cm shell hits the track on a medium and "armor not hit"? Yeah.. they need to rebalance something. I get how before they kept the effective accuracy poor because it's very derpy, but now not only do I need to actually hit the target per rng, but there are also sections of the weak sides that you rng hit which do nothing as well. Since they aren't going to change the entire damage model, I think they should at the *very* least shrink the bloom and ideally revisit the effective accuracy. Even giving it an extra couple of seconds of aim time past when the bloom stops it's always a roll of the dice. Now everyone gets a strong savings throw as well :/

I recently came back to WOT and saw the O-NI in my garage, despite all the hate I've seen on the Type 4 and 5 H I spent some money to get the remaining 100k XP and 1M credits to get the Type 4 H, I had lots of bad battle in the beginning but over time they got better and so did my skill, I'm still motivated to do daily battles with this behemoth, I just figure out a way to work with the new updates, and I love this tank too much to stop using it. plus, every loss is a learning experience for me so I just get better with every battle, in my opinion it's a great tank you just gotta know how to use it.

Tbh, i really liked that change.. maybe not so heavily, since HE dmg seems like lottery at times.. but tanks like the type 5 where just no brainers, most HT standart rounds where usseles against it, so load gold and ignore its armor or lose the trade or give up on getting shot by it.

They should start buffing the type heavies man especially the amor to increase a little to 300mm both turret and hull to pay off with bad traverse and mobility..those flat amore are literally paper with gold shells since most shells excede 300mm of penetration..ive played type 5 heavy and i hardly get bounces wen enemy gets gold shell in their muzzle

Now it is just good at killing low armor vehicules... which it wnot encounter on its typical positions, where you play heavies usually...

I have to disagree with the QB. This tank can't even drive in front of an enemy heavy and try to compete with that 150mm gun. QB just farmed 5k damage with side shots and rear shots. At least with the 140mm gun I know I can fire premium AP and go through the majority of tanks, especially since I can fire down at their front hull. I've done quite a few games with 3000 to 5000 damage using that gun.

I've always just used the 14 cm but now that the 15cm has equivalent pen I might switch

My first T10 tank, but regretted the work after the HE nerf and everyone just spams gold at it. So being a big armored battleship means nothing. You're slowly rolling xp box for the enemy.

The thing is, how many games are you going to get a situation where the slow and massive Type 5 is flanking other tanks and have enough time to put in an HE shot? The current situation makes it at best a worse E100. At least the E100 still has the option of HEAT to challenge other tanks from the front, but the type 5 with its lack of mobility, low pen, and HE couldn't hope to do anything against most heavy tanks without some really exceptional situations that would have worked just as well or better had it been other tanks

I wouldn’t say the type 5 is dead, just the 15 cm gun. Usually if I have a couple teammates around, I’ll use the armor as a sponge, and return fire with a 600-700 damage AP round to whatever hit me, and act as a wall for my allies, allowing them to return fire will showing very little of their tank. Type 5 can work very well with teamwork, but that’s not really seen in battles.

WG Are destroying alot of things recently. I wouldnt be suprised if the new Equipment and Crew changes kill WoT. I know for a fact if the crew 2.0 system makes it into the game i quit.

Console really fucked up with Update 6.0, but the HE nerfs on PC is a MASSIVE mistake. Really interested to see if they could be reversed if enough the community speaks out against it.

I don't really think the type heavies were ruined ; they were already ruined from the get go. Most of the japanese heavies are absolute golden tanks (apart the type 95 at tier 4) the type 91,O-I experimental,regular O-I and O-Ni are amazing tanks. When I first started playing wot like 5 years ago id use to love to play these tanks and still do love playing these tanks and they are close to my heart to this day. Every tank apart from the type 95 are absolutely amazing being able to pick between derp guns which do massive alpha or use a sharpshooter gun which has higher than average penetration from other regular guns (they're both amazing whichever you pick) ; it all changes when you get to the O-ho, the derp gun on the O-I is a monster, on the O-Ni ,still fairly good but when you use it in tier 8 with the potential of meeting tier 10's and having no preferential mm, you're going to be doing less that 100 damage on most top and high tier tanks and if you use the other gun, it has 215mm of penetration which is nothing great,believe is just below average and has pretty shit rng and with 215mm of penetration, you're not going to fair well against tier 10's. Next and lastly, is the Type 4 and 5 heavies, since gunwise and with stats, they're pretty much identical, I'm going to talk about them inclusively. As QB mentioned, if you use the derp gun, you're often going to deal around 150 damage compared to the 400 sometimes going to 600 damage it use to deal against tier 9's and 10's let alone tier 8's - the other gun is mediocre at best as it loses all of its derp potential and whilst has less, still has pretty shitty rng. The armour on the O-Ho and both type's are actually quite lacking unlike the lower tier japanese heavies like the O-I and possibly O-Ni which were impenetrable when it faced bottom tier opponents. So to answer your question, I don't think the type 5 heavy is ruined because it was already a pretty terrible tank from the get - go and loses the reputation and credibility of lower tiered japanese heavies as it simply does not fare with ridiculous weak spots in certain areas of the tank and loses the derp potential even with the nerf that it had compared to the O-I which would practically one shot most of it's opponents.

Honestly I sold my OI and stopped grinding up that line after the HE nerf. WG seems honestly confused about what they even want to do with that line so I don't see the point anymore.
